  1. Check the power properties for the USB connected devices. Had this problem a lot with USB Keyboards other usb devices.
  2. Hi, Has anyone been using Scholarpack for longer that 6 months that could give us some feedback? Thanks
  3. Courtesy of Member - Diello; How do I rollback virus signature database updates on ESET business products? (5.x)—ESET Knowledgebase
  4. Chrome has issues as well.
  5. Well that was clever of them. Kapersky are getting it as well on their forums. Rolling back just isn't an option if some pc's\laptops are not linked to ERA.
  6. Ditto here for ESET as well, but its a different one, did a search and its is showing up on Kapersky forums as a false positive.
  7. With 2.5 years to go and a refresh of Servers and some PC's due, plus a move to Windows 10, using our current EES, will it be worth staying with Microsoft if the price is to increase significantly, only time will tell. I shall send a copy of the MoU to all heads so they can decide. "Forewarned is Forearmed"
  8. I had to put those firewall rules in for every deployment, the rules can be exported and imported if it works. Also ensure your remote desktop connection is enabled for administrators.
  9. Maybe this will help. What firewall exceptions does SOLUS 3 require to be input in Windows Firewall Configuring the Windows Firewall for SOLUS³ Agent Communication Workaround 1. Load the Group Policy Editor and navigate to the Windows Firewall node (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490626.aspx). 2. Open the Windows Firewall: Define port exceptions properties dialog. IMPORTANT NOTE: Ensure that you access the Windows Firewall: Define port exceptions properties via the correct route. The correct route is Computer Configuration | Policies | Administrative Templates | Network | Network Connections | Windows Firewall | Domain Profile | Windows Firewall: Define inbound port exceptions. 3. Select the Enabled radio button. 4. In the Options panel, click the Show button to display the Show Contents dialog. 5. Add the following values: 52965:TCP:*:Enabled:SOLUS 3 Deployment Server 52966:TCP:*:Enabled:SOLUS 3 Agent 8739:TCP:*:Enabled:SOLUS 3 Agent Notifier UI IMPORTANT NOTE: Setting group policy port exceptions disables local port exceptions unless overridden in group policy. To do this, open the Windows Firewall: Allow local port exceptions properties dialog and select the Enabled radio button. 6. Click the OK button to close the Show Contents dialog. 7. Click the OK button to close the Windows Firewall: Define inbound port exceptions dialog. 8. Open the Windows Firewall: Allow inbound remote administration exception properties dialog. IMPORTANT NOTE: Ensure that you access the Windows Firewall: Allow inbound remote administration exception properties via the correct route. The correct route is Computer Configuration | Policies | Administrative Templates | Network | Network Connections | Windows Firewall | Domain Profile | Windows Firewall: Allow inbound remote administration exception. 9. Select the Enabled radio button. 10. In the Options panel, enter * in the Allow unsolicited incoming messages from these IP addresses: field. 11. Click the OK button to close the Windows Firewall: Allow inbound remote administration exception dialog. 12. Open the Windows Firewall: Define inbound program exceptions dialog. 13. In the Options panel, click the Show button to display the Show Contents dialog. 14. Enter: C:\Windows\System32\wbem\unsecapp.exe:Enabled:.NET Proxy for DCOM (WMI). 15. Click the OK button to close the Windows Firewall: Define inbound program exceptions dialog. Also, these ports need to be open on all devices: TCP 139, UDP 137, UPD 138 for browsing the network (NetBios) on all devices.
  10. Have you added the firewall rules for solus and sims? Turning the firewall off isn't enough.

    New Servers -

Hi All, I look after 4 Primary Schools all out curriculum servers are up for refresh later this year, so what should I be looking for. Our current servers are Servers, Win 2008 4 GB Ram 1.5TB of disc space setup using Raid 5 with each school having about 100 clients on the domain and about 20 - 30 users that access shares on the servers, we will need more storage as we are running at about 75% of the current capacity. We use Tandberg RDX and Cartridges for backup. Our MIS is going to be moved online so not worried about that. Not so much interested in who supplies them at present but more what base spec should I look for any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
  17. This is a list I compiled from the BETT Show website: Hope it helps! 18. Thanks do you have a link? Scrub that found it Thanks.
  19. Yes Scholarpack looks a good choice but as were an academy we have to look at at least another 2 to obtain best value etc. We know SIMs and we know Bromcom I have sent a list obtained from the BETT Show website of possibles. Up to management in the end.
  20. Just seen this thanks for posting:)
  21. When 2 of my Primary's became an Academy the 2 schools moved from SIMS to another MIS Our contract is up this summer so I have been tasked to look at it again and see if we can save some money and also get an MIS that works well looks easy for staff to use in the classroom and is above all cheaper than what were being quoted for renewal. We don't use the finance package that come with an MIS as we use Agresso. Any suggestions out there?
  22. Interesting thread this one, looking after 4 Primary and one Nursery, we have had a few apple devices turn up we use the learnpads because they are easily managed but Windows is the dominant OS. We only have 4 Windows 10 PC's and it is unlikely that they will move to Windows 10 complete until the the death of a pc or someone comes up with the cash to refresh the kit. (Highly unlikely) As for business, well when your walk into PC world and they are still using Windows XP you think that some will never change. "If it isn't broke, don't try and fix it"
  23. Those that might consider it fun to phone the local school and carry out such threats for their own amusement or whatever need to realise that when push comes to shove and someone doesn't evacuate or follow the correct procedures\actions when receiving such threats because they think its just the kids playing up again, that's when the real terrorist strikes. Complacency is sometimes the route to disaster. Those responsible need to be found and severely dealt with prank or not. The advantage we have today is that every electronic communication is monitored some way or another.
  24. Well this error appears in the DC event log for DNS Event Type: Error Event Source: DNS Event Category: None Event ID: 4007 Date: 27/11/2015 Time: 10:49:16 User: N/A Computer: Description: The DNS server was unable to open zone XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX in the Active Directory from the application directory partition ForestDnsZones.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. This DNS server is configured to obtain and use information from the directory for this zone and is unable to load the zone without it. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly and reload the zone. The event data is the error code. Yes no group policies applied to users at all removed them and never had any for the teachers anyway. I can login on the server as admin. Uses roaming profiles. Thanks
  25. Came in this morning and logged in as the test pupil which has always worked and was immediately logged off, tested a few accounts and its the same for the teachers accounts although they never login to the domain. No Group policies running. Fortunately teacher use their laptops which don't use the domain except for DHCP,DNS and file storage. Any ideas out there. Thanks
