Use a dehumidifer, they are cheap effective and also dry all your clothes, unlike a tumble dryer which can't do them all. Granted you'll need space for the clothes airier. Just bought one of these. Hi, We are currently using Smart Notebook with the Smartboard 500 and a couple of 600 series interactive whiteboards. Some of the boards are losing the touch sensitivity ie; tap an icon nothing happens with with the board orientated. We also tend to find that when using the pens the the pen is considerably less accurate on the right hand side of the board. I have changed drivers and smart notebook software from 11.4 and gone up the to the latest version and the problem still exists. We have come to conclusion that the boards may just have had it and that it is time to change. But change to what? staff want to continue to use the Smart Notebook, our projectors are OK and some are new. Anyone else had the same issue and come up with a cost effective solution. I work in 3 primary schools that all have the same boards and projectors. Thanks

Hi All, I have been asked to help out install a couple of new servers over the holidays, a favour for a bit of web work that was done for me. I have installed 2008 in all my schools but as of yet have not progressed to 2012. Is there much difference? not planning to wipe the networked clients just just basically replicate the old domain. Any tips or pointers for a newbie of 2012 would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

A messy desktop is a messy mind, nothing worse that hunting around for folders or files with thousands on the desktop. Keep it simple keep it clean.

I agree with Fiza, even though they maybe able show academically on paper what they can recall, but even a simple task as asking someone to change a toner cartridge (which comes with instructions) sometimes seems to be a challenge to far for some of them. Giving them a skills test generally sorts them out.

No offense taken but yes they do. The software is not that tasking just that the bloated windows installation and subsequent updates takes up most of the space. No budget for replacements until next year maybe??/

Well if anyone wants to donate a few ide 2.5 drives with a bigger capacity than 40gb they wouldn't go to waste as I have some laptops that windows and associated software has blown the space on. Need about 40. I am sure the school would be willing to pay the postage.

Just going to chip in here. I deleted desktop.ini files as mentioned and have subsequently ended up with a longer logon time ie 3:30s from logging in to being usable. At first I thought this was something to with what I had done by deleting the desktop.ini file but i noticed on the server that DNS was not integrating with my active directory Event id: 4007. I restarted AD services and DNS a couple of times and then rechecked the the event log and the error had not shown up on the 3rd attempt at re-starting DNS thinking that this maybe what had caused my long login times. I checked the login time and it was still what I consider to be long, as logins have always been generally quick especially as I was using a wired connection. Unfortunately it was nearly 6pm and the the caretaker was tapping the window with the keys so I shall see what the comments from staff are tomorrow on my Friday visit to the school. Any thoughts on why the long login appreciated.

Is that desktop.ini, anywhere on the server or within each users home folder? would need to look up FSRM first never used it before. Thanks

Hi All, Wonder if anyone can explain this and if possible how to fix. Every now and again when I look at users home directory folder on the server some of the folders have been renamed Documents instead of the users . Up until now I have just looked at the properties of the each users folder and reset the name and changed the icon back to the default yellow icon. Can anyone point in the right direction for fixing the issue. Image is attached of my users folders. Names hidden of course. Any help would be welcomed. Thanks:)

If its worth your time then use one of them to find the fault it shouldn't take long swapping over the removable component bits into a working one and see if it's a component issue or motherboard issue. If it's not worth time then just write it off and replace.

Try re-seating the memory modules and swap the on board battery sometimes its simply bad connection. I get this a lot on the old RM Machines that we still have.

I second the Casio's. Have a look at http://www.avpartsmaster.co.uk they tend to do them all and have a couple of tools check the throw etc.
