  12. Same here as most are doing, will test on non critical stations (have been for a while in test bed environment). Looking forward to a new OS though, new stuff to learn makes me tick!!
  13. I have had a sporadic report on one of ours, but have failed to replicate the problem with any of the others. Will try and find out why its just one unit that it has happened to.
  14. We have started rolling out/in lol the Smart 4065 and very pleased with them, they look great and just work as you wish. We trialled all brands and concluded this was the one for us. My advice is trial as many as you can/onsite for a few days let a get the staff involved, get feedback and make a desicion based on your findings as once you roll out you will carry a heavy can. I know of others who purchased on whim (I wont name the board brand as its not the boards fault) and it was not the correct product for the school and staff, they regret not trialling other brands. Check my earlier thread for some of our feedback, but make the desicion based on your school needs. Only tip I make is avoid non anti-glare boards, in my view antiglare should be standard.
  15. I had an issue with the Tosh,s when we use our new wifi network, had to update the Atheros drivers for it to connect, prob because it was newer wif technologies involved.
  16. There is a reg key to disable the station from trying to be the master browser, I change it on all of mine as standard build. Will post shortly.
  17. Infocus Jtouch are less than 2k, we tested them lovely board but not anti-glare yet and they shine like a mirror. Shame because we would have seriously considered them.
  18. Same here Joanne, although our cleaners offer to do it which is nice of them.
  19. Lol GuyJD, that has crossed my mind about when that will happen!!
  20. Hi Nadnerb!! The response times are good it means you can just use the board how it should be used, the staff are really pleased and cant wait to start using it for handwriting with the children. I know smart software will work on any board but the feel and use of the board was favoured by my 'test' classrooms that had it on trial. The feedback from users on all boards we had on trial was looked at and a desicion was made from that. Its a sturdy board and feels strong, looks the part too!! Some staff have commented that it has almost made them not want to use the old style board now as it seems so poor in comparision lol Hope this helps?
  21. So, we had our first Smart 4065 installed in the computing hub!!! After months of demo models for nearly every brand known to man, we finally decided on the Smart 4065!! This model has all the connectivty we need and a (freeze button lol!!) and is a really nice board. As we are a embedded Smart software school it also made sense and was thei right cost point also. We chose to install in the computing hub first as all staff will get to have a play and get used to the board before we roll out to the rest of the school. The install was done very professionally and to a superb standard, all trunking for the cables was neat and care was taken. The engineers even had their own henry for cleaning up etc.!! Well done @Haptic a quality installation!! Everyone is getting on fine with the board and now appreciate how nice it is to be able to use without calibration and not being blinded by a ropey old projector every day!! The board is quick responsive, accurate and a joy to use so far!!
  22. Smart version 15 is free with Smartboard product and 3yrs advantage wchich is support and upgrades but 299.00 per licence for Smart 15 on non Smart products plus 20 quid advantage licence 1Yr.
  23. Hi, We tested the Jtouch board, was really nice but was so shiny it was like a mirror. The manufacturer said that the anti-glare version will not be released till later in the year which is a real shame and this one point meant we have taken it out of our equation. If they had an anti-glare board we would have had it in our shortlist. Getting an onsite board to play with for a few days was easy and if you require the details of the chap who sorts it let me know. He works for the manufacturer, not a reseller so you dont get hammered by phone call etc. Hope this helps
  24. We have had a Ruckus solution installed and really happy with the system and the work of the installer: View Profile: Haptic - EduGeek.net. Really pleased with the solution, coverage is fantastic (we can use laptops upto 300m down the field). Its a really easy to use management system and probably does far more than we require at present. Highly recommend!!
  25. We have a Smart 4065 on test this week, very impressed with quality of the board and presicion of the touch. It also has a freeze function although called "still" now. It also ticks the box that the staff are used to smart and use it alot. We haved trialled as many boards as possible and we think this may fit our needs. Depends on your needs and current use in my view, contact the manufacturers for a demo board for each brand that you fancy and try it out. I had hopes for some boards but they did not fit the bill so you may be suprised at the outcome. Also if it is a big financial desicion and you have done your homework then you know you made the choice on your experience rather than a bias to a particular brand. Hope this helps
