Out of interest why are you looking to replace your MX-90? Is it not up to the job or costing too much in licence fees?

VeryPCs are by Zoostorm if im not mistaken. I've had computers from both, and both have been great with 2 problems from Zoostorm out of 18PCs and no problems with VeryPCs.

Well I think the star-tech ones are designed for the VGA cables which is what I'm after it for. If the Hex bit is too long then the pins from the VGA cable wont reach the holes in the female side. I just extracted one from a Displayport to DVI adapter and the thread is quite long while the Hex bit is quite short, the thread length shouldn't be an issue as long as it does a few turns but the Hex side of things may. Doing a bit more reading it appears as though the star-tech ones must be the standard measurements for these type of "screws" OK I just measured this one and the Hex bit is only 5mm and the RS ones are 10mm at the small end which is a shame. They do a 5mm one but its an M3 which is too small.

Arh thanks for that. When you say an RDP file is that a connection file containing the server ip etc? How do I make one of those?

Hi Oaktech, The laptops aren't domain connected so as I understand it they won't be able to use direct access.

OK I'll have a look into terminal services. There wont be many users using it so I don't want to dedicate too much time to it so RDP with terminal services sounds like the way to go.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, but I am looking to enable remote access of sorts for staff to access work from home they don't have domain joined devices only their own, so do I want to use Direct Access which I believe works with domain joined devices or would RDP work? Its the first time I've set something like this up, so I want to do it correctly. I use RDP to manage all the servers which is nice and easy and I was hoping for the same sort of method for staff.

I've just taken a look at Clonezillas site, the interface looks primarily DOS style based FOG will work on Windows, Mac OSX, Linux and multiboot. FOG is much more than just imaging, it will make an inventory of each host which was a massive time saver for me recently as I needed the serial numbers of the computers so instead of going around each room to get the serial number FOG as part of the host registration process gets the spec of the machine including the serial number. Its got tools too so you can do WOL, memtest86, virus scan, password reset, disk testing, different types of remote formatting and more...

Try this FOG Project I use it and its great, takes a bit of getting used to but its quite widely used on Edugeek.

I would consider the laptop route, I had the same options as you @Joanne and I went the laptop route. Its just as powerful as a desktop for what I do. Far more portable for the "unknown" and can still use multiple displays and docks. @ICTDirect_Dave do those Xeon workstations sound like hoovers?

They seem to be targeting their line to be in competition to Unifi but as you say they are missing a lot of features.

I want to get a new wireless access point for home and I want to spend the extra and get something "high end" Straight away the Ubiquiti UAP-Pro would be one to consider but are there any others out there? I'd want to stay away from the likes of Netgear and d-link. AC would be nice but my switch only supports PoE (af) not PoE (at) and I'd rather not use injectors.
