  1. A friend who used to work for a company that installed home entertainment, automation an security systems used to use these. https://www.blackbox.co.uk/gb-gb/si/1305/12819/CAT5e-EZ-RJ45-Modular-Plugs/V1.S1.O4 They are super easy to use but pretty expensive.
  2. Haha I thought it was just me that made silly things like that. I made these back in 2005 Even made a crossover one, because why not lol.

    Yeah hes an oddbod.
  4. I leave the accessibility settings turn on just in case we have a disabled student that requires them. I've found they can be used for messing settings up for uses if a student is logged on then his "mate" changes the zoom settings or such like it can be a PITA to sort out. I was wondering if you guys/gals, have the accessibility settings and have any of your users ever abused them? I'm considering turning them off and allowing them for certain users only upon request.

Woah whats with the necro thread?
  6. This makes me sad lol... I look forward to the final tidy.
  7. I think I would check the default gateways on the vlans and the server. What sort of connectivity loss is actually happening? Can the endpoints ping anything?
  8. Most of the 8 port PoE switch won't require a fan, but for the 24 and 48s its kinda a requirement if you are going to go near capacity or you'll soon find your switch failing.
  9. I like the idea of their switches but I cant seem to find if they have any layer2+ capability, static routing would be nice. The latest version of their software is quite pretty and you can manage it in the cloud kinda like a budget version of Meraki. So if you have ubiquiti wireless APs getting the switches gives you very nice integration using the software.
  10. Do you need to filter your own websites? Maybe just add them to the exceptions?
  11. Hiya, I'll give that a try and report back.
  12. I got a support request that mentioned that the built in help in Activinspire wasn't working. I checked on my laptop running version 1.7.62196 (didnt work) which is an old version so I updated it to version 2.4.66096 which also didnt work on either chrome or IE. Clicking on contents has no effect, nor does search or index, however there are 2 little arrows left and right which can be used to navigate the help pages. I imagine its like that on every computer in our networks.
  13. This is something that should be raised with the LEA if their solution isn't adequate, could fall under safeguarding that usually scares them.
  14. I'm sure it'll work on IPV4 because I'm certainly not going to implement IPV6 just for this. Its nice to know its ready, Paxtons website looks like they are from the dark ages so supporting IPV6 surprises me.
  15. You really need to checkout Gisburn Forest if you are from the North West. I've spent loads of time there biking and helping build the trails. P.M.B.A.
  16. I was under the impression zone transfers was for multiple DNS servers, hes only got 1. In your screen shot click on stm.internal, inside that folder you should have all the DNS entrys for all of the devices on your network. There should be one for stm-sr-002
  17. Yeah go into DNS on server 1 and look for stm-sr-002 under forward dns entry's there should be a reverse one too.
  18. Is there a DNS entry for server 2 on server 1? You said that dns points to server 1 but I assume you mean in the tcpip settings.
  19. There are lots of recommendations for Paxton, was this forced upon you by your LEA's or did you actively decide that was the best system? Thanks for the recommendations so far, I'll get some info from the companies and report back.
  20. Now make sure you set those reservations.
  21. It will either have a static IP in its factory defaults (google what that will be if its not on the bottom of the AP), in which case after you reset it you will need to connect to it using a PC in the same IP range. Or it will be set to get an IP from DHCP in its factory defaults in which case just refresh the DHCP server after its booted up.
  22. Do you have a server with a good copy of that file? You could try copying a good file to that dir, but backup the original first by giving it a different file extension like .backup
  23. Cheers guys, @Mark182 who installed them? I should also add I put "swipe card" down but what I mean is RFID.
  24. I've been asked to look into swipe card entry into one of our buildings but I've got no experience of who makes such systems or who can supply/install. What sort of things do I need to lookout for? Can anyone recommend any companies? Cheers.
  25. Maybe spend the money on a layer 3 switch then next time around get the new UTM.
