  1. I had this problem today and this is how I fixed it using GPO: Computer Configuration > Preferences > Control Panel Settings > Folder Options Right click > New File Type In the pop up box Action = Update File extension = jpg (no full stop) Associated Class = Windows Photo Viewer DropTarget GP update your PC's and it should work. Repeat for the file types. Hope this helps someone.
  2. Well group call phoned me today and fixed my problem. Got to say they did a great job. Thanks
  3. It is when running through local WIFI, we dont use an external 3G connection here. Thanks for your speedy reply.
  4. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone out there has had any problems with the emerge app crashing with the error message "Signal 11" and if anyone has a fix. Thanks in advance for your replies and help.
  5. Hi, Does anybody know if they will be providing the dinner money register in emerge? As this would be really usefull here. Thanks
  6. Does not matter anymore i got a quote for £8.20. Lol
  7. Hi, I am also looking at using D2D as it looks very good. I was just wondering where you got that price from? Thanks
  8. I would recommend spiceworks, I have tested a few and I think it is by far the best.
  9. Are you setting it as a computer startup script in GP or a user logon script? My understanding of it is if it is applied by GP as a computer startup script it should be running with system privilages which should get the job done. If it still does not work I think you would need a vbs script that elevates its permisions before preforming the task. Hope this helps.
  10. Hi, I seem to be getting the above error however I have the windows firewall turned off. Could I still be afected? Thanks
  11. Thanks for that. That same problem has been bugging me for a while. Same thing happened to me changed 1 driver and they all went nuts.
  12. I agree turn windows firewall off. Although they have improved over the years they really are not up to the job for domain firewall security.
  13. I have found that sometimes SIMS works fine with Win7 but other times it gives me error messages like the date and time format are wrong, which they blatently are'nt. The only way I have been able to get arround it is to install all components seperatly and it works for some reason. Oh and another one is that it cant find the connect.ini file, so I browse to the same location it said it could not be found and low and behold it finds it and installs SIMS. I hate SIMS and Win7 together, its just a pain in the backside.
  14. Thanks for the tip with the turn off paning setting as that problem has had me baffled for a while. I also had the problem with the orientation of the boards and my solution was to make the teachers (who are in there own OU and have there own group membership in AD) local admins on the PC's.
  15. I had the same problem. The only way I manged to fix the long map times was to use all universall drivers as HP did not have any specific Win7 drivers for my printers, some of which are brand new expensive colour laserjets. I am still of the opinion that there is definatly a bug of some sort with Win7 in the way it handles printers as I was also having the problem of not being able to delete any printers that had been deployed using GP and vbs scripts, in the end I had to write a script that deleted them from the registry. Printing in Win7 can be a total nightmare.
  16. Do you apply your scripts etc using Group Policy?
  17. I had a similar problem to this when I rolled out Win7. As far as i can tell there is no way to fix this but as a work around I denied the administrator read access to the desktop.ini file inside the home folder and it would then show the correct username for the home folder. Its a bit of a pain as i had to do it for nearly 1000 users and you can only do it once they have logged into a win7 client but once its done you should not need to do it again, just for new users. Hope this helps.
  18. Hi, Does anyone experiance the same issues that I am having when downloading large files using DurhamNet as the ISP? My main problem is that any files over 50Mb or so are always corrupted. It will randomly stop downloading before it has downloaded all the file thus corrupting the file. Thanks.
  19. Hi, I work in a northumberland school and we have recently migrated onto DurhamNet. After we migrated I noticed that my WSUS server is failing to download updates. I know the problem resides with BITS and that it is caused by a device (firewall, proxy or router) not supporting range protocol headers. I was wondering if anyone else had had the same problem with DurhamNet? Thanks
