  1. We have a trolley holding 15 Dell D505's, a Linksys WAP and a HP 1320n on top. Staff who want to use it must first undergo a short induction and we have a "manual" stored in the trolley also (a bit pointless though - staff reading IT instruction manuals? In our dreams!) We make staff responsible for the unit so if anything gets damaged/lost/stolen etc. they will not be allowed to use the trolley again for a long time. We also use combination padlocks (keys too easy to lose). The usual problems we have is that some staff forget to plug in the WAP or they turn the laptops on before the WAP, or they forget to turn off the power strips in the trolley before plugging it into a wall socket (trips the electrics in the area and causes havoc!). They usually only forget just the once though...

    winrar password?

  4. I've tried conversion websites and the results are usually poor. To play flv's I use K-Lite Codec pack with Media Player Classic. However, Mediacoder is supposed to take YouTube URL's and convert them on the fly.
  5. Probably motherboard, but check PSU just in case.

  7. DMEX can create a tree text file of folders. It's also a very handy renamer and integrates into the Explorer shell. http://home.arcor.de/we/wegzumziel/download/dmexinfo.htm

    HTML Help

Didn't know about that kiosk mode argument for IE. It's possible "TheaterMode" is similar, can't test at the moment. But Kiosk Mode sounds just like what you want. Makes my code look OTT! As for your 2nd question, not sure sorry. I use this site for help with HTML and more: W3 Schools

    HTML Help

I've got this bit of code which will open IE with specified website, then you can change the lines lower down for various effects. Without changes, it should load the website in an IE window which will fill the screen, minus an address, menu and toolbar. Not sure, but perhaps it could be adapted into VBScript that can be embedded in your web pages... ' URL for website strURL = "http://www.foobar.com" ' Get the screen size strComputer = "." Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2") Set colItems = objWMIService.ExecQuery("Select * from Win32_DesktopMonitor") For Each objItem in colItems ' Because we get 2 results for some strange reason If objItem.ScreenHeight <> "" Then intScreenHeight = objItem.ScreenHeight If objItem.ScreenWidth <> "" Then intScreenWidth = objItem.ScreenWidth Next Set objIE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") objIE.FullScreen=False objIE.TheaterMode=False objIE.AddressBar=False objIE.MenuBar=False objIE.ToolBar=False objIE.Left=0 objIE.Top=0 objIE.Width=intScreenWidth objIE.Height=intScreenHeight-30 ' Takes into account the Windows toolbar objIE.Navigate(strURL) objIE.Visible=True
  11. I know! It's not very secure, but it works. So far, the GOLA system has been used for the last few years, and nobody has messed around with the share.
  12. Don't actually need full admin rights on the clients. I've installed this software on 5 of our sites now, and all you need to do is set up the server like this (taken from my own instructions tailored for my college): 1. Designate a PC as the SERVER – it’s a good idea to use one which students won’t be using and close (in terms of the network) to the testing machines 2. Log-on as administrator 3. Create a folder on the SERVER – “C:\ESM_Test_Centre” and share it – allow everyone access to read and write files. 3a.Right-click the folder and click on “Sharing & Security” 3b.On the “Sharing” tab click on “Permissions” and set Everyone to have Full Control 4. On the “Security” tab, add Everyone as a group, and give it Full Control 5. Run the ESM installation package you downloaded previously – allow it to install into the default location “C:\Program Files\Promissor” and set the data installation location to “C:\ESM_Test_Centre”. Leave anything else as default. 6. Make a note of the SERVER’s machine name (helps with installation on client PC’s later) 7. Remove “ESMServer” shortcut from the Startup folder in the Start Menu (Start->All Programs->Startup) 8. Run ESMServer and edit the PROXY settings. 9. Close ESMServer and run “regedit” 10.Look for “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Promissor” and give users of the machine full control over the registry key This should let all clients work with users own accounts.
  13. Happens to me with my work e-mail. Definately spammers spoofing my address. Sometimes it looks like I'm spamming myself! Just started to happen with my private e-mail too after 5+ years of careful (I thought) use.
  14. What's your setup? If your running ESMServer on an XP box, then you're only allowed 10 simultaneous network connections to it. Can be changed with www.LvlLord.de - Tipps, Tricks & Utilities - Tools
  15. Some motherboards can shutdown the PC if CPU temps are too hot...
  16. Any chance it could be a BIOS setting?
  17. Since your computer boots partway into XP, I doubt it's anything to do with boot sector or MBR. Most likely a corrupt driver. To get to safe mode, keep tapping F8 when POST starts and keep going until a menu appears. To get to recovery console: Recovery Console - How to Enter Windows XP Recovery Console
  18. Use Ubuntu at work. Waiting for drivers to catch up so I can use it on my home PC.
  19. I drive a 2003 Focus RS (only 4500 made). Nice handling car, with amazing brakes! MPG not so good though, 24mpg usually, 28mpg when it's mostly motorway. Oh, and it needs new front tyres every 8 months or so, rear ones replaced after around 18 months. Took it for an MOT recently to my usual garage, had it back and within 2 days coolant tank was empty due to a leak, horn had changed it's tone, and the alarm keeps going off every couple of hours :-( Needless to say, won't be taking it there again. If I had loads of money, would love to swap it for the new 2008 Nissan Skyline GT-R :-) Price: GB = ~£60,000, Japan = ~£30,000!!! Because of tax! 0-60=~4s, Top Speed=~205mph. Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my shirt!
  20. I'm having same problem at work through a proxy (FF & IE), but when I go home it's fine. Looks like MS may have pooched something.
  21. Using a RAD framework can also help. I've been looking at CakePHP There are also others for PHP: Symfony, Zend, CodeIgniter etc... There's frameworks for other languages too. Apparently Mozilla Addons uses CakePHP.

    Sharing printers

Can you ping the PC it's connected to? Can it print after 4pm? Is PC going into standby?
  24. Ok eOSMOSIS.org sounds good!
  25. Sorry, stickmen are the extent of my drawing capabilities! Just had a quick look, osmosis.org is available, why not have that?
