Good morning Following a file server migration we have noticed that for many users their documents under Quick Access in File Explorer still points to the old directory. Does anybody know if this will eventually change to reflect their new home directories after they've accessed them enough or is it best to just unpin this for them on an individual basis? I have a theory that this could be causing slow performance when saving files as the directory no longer exists. Thank you

Good morning Has anybody seen the attached behaviour before? Note the double directories. It often coincides with File Explorer opening itself for a second time when a folder is selected instead of showing the contents of that folder in the already open File Explorer window. Opening a file from the second File Explorer window will then cause both instances to crash. Thank you

Good afternoon So if I've followed this correctly, the answer is to install MDT onto an x86 machine and then copy the CLG file to the existing x64 deployment share? We need an x86 deployment as the hardware to be imaged doesn't support x64. Thank you

Good morning I'm looking for some advice on the following: We use MDT in a number of our schools to install Windows 10 x64 (1703 and 1709) without any trouble. In one of the schools we would also like to have an x86 deployment of Windows 10 1709 but I'm struggling to get it to deploy x86 1703 or 1709 and wondered what I might be missing. I've updated MDT, ADK, the deployment share and boot images in WDS. I've imported the OS and set up a task sequence but it just stops and waits for input at the region select screen. Any suggestions welcome. Thank you

Good afternoon Thank you for the suggestion, although all appears to be OK with the policy and the letters your suggestion as at least forced me to look through our drive mappings (there are a lot due to it being a Trust) and I can see one sort of difference in the problematic drive: It's not been shared as hidden ($) like a lot of our other drives and it also has a space in it where a lot of our others do not, for example it is currently: \\servername\share name instead of \\servername\sharename$ Could this be a possible cause? Thank you

Good afternoon We appear to be experiencing an error whereby users of a particular security group frequently have Windows 10 file explorer crashing when opening files from mapped drives. The security group itself exists as members of that group get a particular mapped drive but they have the issue regardless of which drive they are opening files from. A bit of a strange one that's been driving us mad so if anyone has any suggestions we would appreciate it. Thank you

Another vote for Parago, we use it across our Trust and haven't had any problems adding schools as we've grown. I echo the thoughts of others that they do appear to listen to feedback and make appropriate chances, the agent for each site was easy enough to get into our MDT task sequences as well.

Good morning A bit of an open ended question I suppose but I was just curious as to how others deal with users receiving a lot of spam\junk and generally unwanted e-mails. We use Office 365 here but don't have any additional e-mail filter on top of that, for the most part we never hear of this causing problems but one of the deputy heads gets random messages on a regular basis. At the moment we just ask her to provide a copy and add the senders address to our Mail Flow Rules but wondered if there was a way to root out the cause or prevent her address being a target? Thank you

Good evening Thanks for the advice, I think because I am able to change the username in AD to either domain and I know AD syncs to Office 365 I was expecting Office 365 to reflect the change at next sync but this doesn't occur. If I look in Office 365 I can change the user e-mail to either domain but have not tried this simple approach yet as Office 365 tells me that we are AD synced and some changes can only be made in AD. Thank you

Just to check we are on the same wavelength here, I'm talking about setting up Outlook after changing the domain not working.

We deploy Win 10 Edu 1703 via MDT if that makes any difference.

Good afternoon I'm going to try and explain this as best I can but apologies if it gets a little complicated: When creating\managing users in AD we have the choice of giving them the suffix of @schoolname.county.sch.uk or @nameoftrust.org.uk What I would like to achieve is being able to change a user from @schoolname...to @nameoftrust... and have Outlook auto discover as it does normally. Currently this is not happening. Now for some reason we have been left with multiple ways of creating users, either using Exchange to setup an Office 365 mailbox which then creates the user in AD simultaneously or creating the user in AD directly which in turn syncs to Office 365. Any advice on best practice here is also welcome but primarily I want to achieve that change of domain above and I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Thank you

Good afternoon Just noticed your post scrolling around at the top of the forum and thought I would post that we are using Win 10 Edu 1703 and when we lock our PCs the custom image is displayed although I'm not sure if that update has been applied to our systems. I realise that probably doesn't help you in any way or perhaps I've misread your problem but if there's anything else get back to me. Thank you

Good morning This could be a bit of a strange request but I wondered if anybody out there had any input regarding the best solutions for dictation. In particular the school is looking to assist a student so that they may speak and directly produce a Word document. Now in my experience dictation solutions work better by making an audio recording and then typing up the content later but the school are trying to avoid the student having to type for any great length of time. So far my best idea was to use the microphone built in to a laptop and leverage the speech input tool which comes with Read & Write 11 but setbacks include the length of time and know how required to complete the voice recognition training as well as the difficulties of background noise in class. Good afternoon I wonder if anybody else has seen this and can offer some advice, we are only just moving to Windows 10 here but have come across a problem whereby setting a GPO to enable the screensaver after a period of time and password protecting it causes the PCs to lock. This was the intended result as we felt it was a good safety feature for staff who get up and leave their desk without logging off, however when the PCs lock there is no option to log on as another user and obviously the password of the user is required. At the moment we only have 1 user outside of the office using Windows 10 for testing purposes but I can see this being a problem going forward in terms of showing up at a machine to fix something while the user is away or if a teacher leaves the PC locked in one room and disappears to another. Maybe we've set the wrong policy in the first place or maybe there is something we can do to enable a switch\change of user. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Good afternoon Does anybody know of a relatively straightforward way to turn off an individual Office 365 product for multiple users. Specifically we are thinking Teams because by default it has been enabled for all individuals (students and staff) but we would rather turn it off for everybody and then enable those who ask about it. I understand Teams requires enabling centrally to begin with but if the licence is already enabled for everybody and we switch it on then presumably anybody can access it. At the moment we don't even see the option to turn Teams on in the Admin Centre but I guess that's another issue. Thank you

Good afternoon Having just replenished a room full of PCs the teachers are starting to mention that they all play sound out of the internal speakers, this becomes a problem if multiple students are listening to multiple things without headphones. Is there a way to disable the internal speakers but leave the sound working when headphones are plugged in? Thank you

Good morning I hope I can explain this clearly: Sometimes if a user is sent an e-mail containing an attached or shared file from OneDrive or SharePoint they are unable to open it as the following error occurs: user@school1... cannot be found in the school2-my.sharepoint.com directory The reason I write school1 and school2 is because this is occurring between schools in our group, so in this example the message with the file is being sent from one of our primaries to one of our secondary schools where the recipient gets the error above. I welcome any suggestions as to where I should begin. Thank you

Good afternoon Hoping somebody may have seen this before on Windows 7, I have a user who when trying to browse to OneDrive through file explorer to open or save anything there gets: "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer" but when you close the error it goes through anyway. So it is usable but a bit annoying, any suggestions? Thank you

Thank you for your response but it's ok now. We had our 3rd party support look at it and they suggested re-capturing the image which appeared to work.

Update: disabled all the driver groups in WDS to no avail
