Thanks @simpsonj That does look helpful

@mthomas08 Sorry to ask for further clarification but you mean you won't renew at the end of the 5 years or you just won't renew for this\next year?
-
@mthomas08 When you say you're tendering them? Because you're coming to end of contract or you're looking to get out of contract early? We made what we now know to be the mistake of signing up to BlueRunner for 5 years and they want paying for us to get out of the last 3.

Good morning, Has anybody got a policy template for the use of AI that they would be happy to share with me please? Also appreciate general feedback on the different approaches you're all taking to the various different platforms, our SLT want to keep it very open for staff and students but educate on correct use. I wanted to block the most common platforms for everyone minus a smaller group of staff to establish best practices before introducing more widely. Thanks

Visual Studio Code - Students can't see Python interpreters
Bankesy replied to JBlue46's topic in Educational Software
@JBlue46 I'm WFH today but will check with Head of Department tomorrow, I haven't seen the issue for myself yet but she did say she would grab some screenshots next time she has that class. I'll let you know if you don't figure it out first. Hopefully somebody who knows what they are doing will respond to you instead -
Visual Studio Code - Students can't see Python interpreters
Bankesy replied to JBlue46's topic in Educational Software
@JBlue46 I had a very similar query to this from our Head of Computing this week, something about how she could use Python code in Visual Studio but students couldn't. Don't have the specifics yet but sounds like a similar problem to what you're describing. -
One of our major problems is that we use HID iClass cards across our systems such as access control, printing and catering. Can't fault that BlueRunner did the development work on that but back end for catering and finance teams is a constant source of queries. There was another provider (AMI) willing to do the development work on the cards but I thought BlueRunner would be good as it's cloud based. School doesn't really want to go down the PIN or biometric route. We also get lots of pending orders building up on the tills (tablets) and they do seem to get overwhelmed at times and just close down the POS app without warning.
-
Thanks everyone, we are with BlueRunner. Into our second year but already had enough, very similar experiences to what you all describe above.

Good morning, Just trying to get an overview of what people are doing for cashless catering these days? We are having a lot of trouble with our current provider and thinking of getting out. Thanks

Good morning, Does anybody have any recommendations for supply and install of network switches please? Preferably HP. Thank you

@triangular Looks like it was where I deployed Office via InTune, it was only ever targeting devices and oddly I never realised that the default was set to the wrong format in the deployment settings but weirdly this seemed to have no effect on the PCs until the night before the issue started I changed the deployment to also include users (because I was trying to fix a Teams update issue) and this appears to have kicked in and changed the default for everybody. I have no idea what is going on really because now I can't get it to revert back, I've tried changing the deployment setting to the correct format, I've removed all users from the deployment, I've put the default back to how it was (incorrect).
-
@triangular Maybe, but for it to change overnight for all users like that?
-
Good morning, Maybe I'm going mad but all of a sudden this morning it seems new Office documents are defaulting to the OpenDocument format for all users when saving? I can't think of anything that would have triggered this change. Anybody else randomly seeing this? Thanks

@PotNoodleTech @CHiLL Thank you, I did think it was just a side effect but figured it was worth asking the question.
-
@CHiLL @PotNoodleTech Apologies, didn't explain that it is their own personal iPad and they are trying to take advantage of the free license through work\school account rather than pay for personal subscription. Thanks

Good morning, Does anybody know if there is a way of preventing OneDrive files appearing for users when they sign in to Office apps on iPad using work\school accounts? Say for example a user signs in to the Word app with their work\school account but doesn't want to see what's in their work\school OneDrive? Thanks
-
@DalekSec I did think of that but the GPO applies broadly at a high level to basically all of our PCs and I'm trying to get it working for one user.

Good morning, Somehow I have ended up with a user who has a mailbox on both the Exchange server on site and Exchange online, is there anything I can do to fix this without losing data so I'm just left with one mailbox for the user in 365? All ideas welcome. Thanks
-
Good morning, By default we have GPOs in place that block macros in Excel files but I'm wondering if there is something I can set that will bypass this for one user. Like a trusted location maybe, if it's in this one users home directory then it's okay type thing. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

@psydii @6Foot2 It wasn't a permissions thing, here's what I did in the end (all via PowerShell): Created a compliance search Ran compliance search Created a discovery mailbox Assigned permissions on discovery mailbox to myself\others Used eDiscovery to copy search results to the discovery mailbox Thanks both for your help
-
@6Foot2 I actually did limit the search to the subject because that was the example on the article, I couldn't see how to search the body.
-
@6Foot2 I'm part way to solving my own problem here, just read an article about using PowerShell to create the compliance search and then using eDiscovery to view the results. I was just literally trying to use the eDiscovery interface. So now I can see there are supposedly 755 items containing the name in the subject line of e-mails sent within the last year but I can't preview the search results, I just get a log in page (to which I'm entering my own credentials) only to be presented with no search results.
-
Good morning, I have been asked to search for any e-mails sent by anyone to anyone that might contain a particular name in the the subject or body, I've never had to do this before so I tried to muddle my way through an "in-place eDiscovery & hold" but during the estimating phase it just errors out. Does anybody have any suggestions please? Thanks

Good afternoon, Does anybody know if I can get away with the following use of nested device security groups in InTune (synced from on prem)? Just an example: "Groupxyy" contains no computer objects directly but does contain these two groups as members (which do have computer objects in them): "GroupABC" "Group123" In InTune, apply settings\polices to "Groupxyz" ... computer objects in "GroupABC" and "Group123" will get the settings? Thanks

Good afternoon, Does anybody allow Facebook Live through their firewall? I can't seem to find anything useful on which domains, URLs or IPs are required. We have an external group who hire the school and use this functionality but it does not work through the guest SSID to which they connect, trying to work out if it's an internal firewall (WatchGuard) thing or an external (LGfL) thing. Thanks
