Is there a PowerShell command to just check one user's retention policy?

Well it almost works We have two retention policies: 14 month retention policy (with 226 mailboxes allocated) & 36 month retention policy (with 42 mailboxes allocated) The script runs and the output has 2037 lines. There are no lines detailing anyone having the 14 month policy Everyone in the tenancy is being detailed as having the 36 month retention policy

If there was a network outage could the students still logon to their exam accounts? Could they still print if the network was unavailable?

So I'm thinking I need to test: ExamWritePad installed locally Currently it's running in "portable" mode, which is great as I only need to maintain one config file on a central server share. If its installed locally on each PC, how is everyone ensuring the latest config file is on each device? Local exam account on each laptop/device Who is responsible for removing any files left over by the previous user? The invigilators? How are these accounts locked down as active directory group policies aren't in effect? Do the invigilators have the laptop logged on and the application open ready for the student to arrive at the exam? How does the local account get the ExamWritePad icon on their desktop?

Hi, I've finally successfully got my retention policies working for staff, they either have a 14 month or 3 year retention on emails depending on their role. I cannot work out though how to export a list of which mailbox get's which policy so I can send this to our deputy head for checking to make sure we've a) not missed someone out or b) put the wrong policy against someone. The root to the policies is via the Microsoft Purview portal. https://compliance.microsoft.com/homepage Then Data lifecycle management on the left hand side menu; Microsoft 365 then retention policies! I cannot find anything online to export the mailbox list via the GUI or PowerShell. Anyone any ideas? Clicking Edit just brings up the dialog box for selecting accounts - no option to export the list :/

We could perhaps do the same for the automatic backups but currently our "desktops" are redirected to a server share so I'd need to alter that too and use local desktops otherwise the network outage would still lock-up the device if the desktop could not be reached.

Interested in what everyone has in place in case you have a power outage whilst students are using laptops or PC's to do exams? Does your network/WiFi go down? Are all your AP's, network switches etc on UPS? Would the exam need to be paused until the power returned? Are exam files stored on the network during the exams or just stored locally? Thanks, we're just trying to ensure we're as robust as everyone else's setup. Currently using ExamWritePad, students use domain accounts with no internet access, files saved to network (inc backups and auto-saves), work printed at completion of exam. If we experience a power cut we lose our AP's so students need to wait for restoration of power and then can continue from last save, auto-save or backup from ExamWritePad. Should we move to local accounts and files saved to memory sticks, even though that just puts the risk in the hands of a 50p USB stick, or local SSD which would then mean a ball ache for the invigilators to get the file off for printing. I welcome any comments or thoughts.

Regardless of that, what I've been told repeatedly and categorically by Microsoft is that to use retention policies on mailboxes at school we require at least the A3 licence, A1 does not cut it. So we've just had to spend over £2,500 this year to remain compliant :/

I'll look at working hours. Auto-replies whilst they can have a start and end "time" - the time is determined by the start and end date - I can't see how to unlink that.

Hi, Is it possible for staff to have the power to turn on and off auto-replies that would take effect between certain times only, rather than on and off between dates? Eg. Staff member 1 wants out of office replies to go out when they are not at school and they work 7am to 5pm Mon to Thu Staff member 2 wants out of office replies to go out every day when they are not able to check their emails; between 6.30 am and 10.30 pm

Hi, what monitoring software do you use?

So only internet connection monitoring? Not if someone is typing in to say, Notepad..."I want to harm myself....." ? Should that sort of activity be being monitored too?

In terms of KCSIE23 I understand what is meant by filtering. But what is everyone's understanding of the term "monitoring"?

Still not getting anywhere with this :/ I thought what I required would be easy to setup! We need user's email folders to be pruned so that all emails over a certain age are automatically removed (14 months or 36 months depending on job role) AND at the same time have emails in the deleted items folder auto-deleted once they have been stored there for 30 days. Does anyone know how I achieve this?

Have not been able to get anywhere with my investigations as to why it works on some computers running Windows 10 but not others. It seems to reliably install on Windows 11 so we're just going to upgrade all 48 computers in DT to Win11 at the end of the month.
