We've got iTalc 3 on a load of W10 machines (x64 W10 Edu), with no issues (apart from the console crashing every so often)it was just added onto our build image, and didn't require any special changes IIRC?

A lot of our staff have enabled the Student teacher view as their default in SIMS, and are now complaining its slow to open.Now I don't think its a problem as that view collates a load of data and generates graphs for attendance,behaviour, achievement etc on the fly every time you pick a student. Its running on a 16 core/64GB VM and is barely stressed at a CPU load of never more than about 30% so I don't think its a performance issue.Of course you can't tell a teacher that, but I'm curious as to how many of you set this as their default view?

We don't allow the desktop app, but have found the way to get the smoothwall to allow downloads only (from the web interface) and block uploads. With it working like that its a decent compromise!

We still use the entry year/initial/surname method here, so 17JSmith, duplicates mean use middles names or second character of first name so we might have 17JASmith and 17JBSmith

Ok so we've always blocked dropbox for staff and students as its personal file storage and they all have GSuite - however staff are increasingly being sent links to resources that are on dropbox. if we allow it, then it means they have access to their personal dropbox accounts, and that opens a channel for data leakage that we have no audit over, so I'm curious to see how anyone else deals with it? Incidentally we use a smoothwall and they have a KB describing how you can block/allow uploads or downloads to dropbox but I've not managed to get that working yet!

Since I started this thread maybe I shoud respond! We opted for SigninApp in the end. Works very well and a slick interface. Also handy that several managers/site staff can have a login to the web interface to check fire lists etc.

Hmm cheers, I might look into this, not sure what regex will work though as you can't specify *.exe or *.mp3 according to their help pages.

I've only had a brief look at the rules, but don't they only apply to users sharing files outside of the domain, not to files being uploaded into their own drive?

Just wondering how you folks out there deal with staff/students storing copyright material in their google drive or one drive - as I've seen a few here load their entire music collection on there, or a load of films dumped on there! Obviously there's no way we can monitor this or stop this, and warning people not to do it is a waste of breath. I'm just curious as the legal stance on this - its our G Suite domain, and some users have a lot of copyright material in there - does that make the school liable or the individual?

Hmm well we use Sophos and have had the issue for a while. Just added Netsupport Notify so we will have to see if it gets any worse

We used the Remove-ProvisionedAppxPackage method and it used to work as recently as 1709. Looks like we'll have to do it at the pre-deployment stage as this method was ideal for a test bed to see what the new update broke/fixed!

We've had this on 1703 and 1803, and we've never used Impero. It seems random and unrelated to hardware or user so we've added it to the list of W10 'features'!

Yes - first login, so it looks like the default apps are still there for all users! Including the usual stuff we all remove. This is the usual method we do for testing - build a base image, remove the crap and then test it.

As part of a test build of 1803, we run the 'dism /online /remove-provisionedappxpackage /packagename:windows10crap' commands for all the built in rubbish using a batch file - and we've done this for every version since we tested 1607 However, with the latest build, these apps still appear after a user logs in - including Mail, Mobile plans, Messaging, Skype, Xbox(FFS!) - has 1803 now removed the ability to remove this rubbish for all users? The dism commands seem to complete without error though.

Got a random problem with PM running on Server 5.6 - with a bunch of macs bound to AD and using PM for their profiles. We specifiy in the dock the Users Home should appear, along with a couple of shared folders. Generally this is working fine, and the users see the globe icon to show a network folder. But we have a couple of macs (identical image) that simply show question marks for the shared folders, and completely ignore the Users Home folder and shows nothing. This tends to happen for all users on those macs, those users login to another mac and see their folders correctly. They are identical hardware and indentically imaged so I'm a bit confused as to why these ones simply can't show the mapped folders? Everything else from PM seems to work - proxy settings, backgrounds etc so I know PM is pushing the profile out OK.

Removing SSL inspection from youtube is probably a non starter for us, unless we do it for staff only. Odd how PP2016 works different to Word2016 for the exact same task though.

Very much that situation here, we only tend to hear about it if we happen to go and ask, or its really bad (like they need to print assignments for a deadline etc)

We're still getting a lot of the "Group Policy Object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070709 The printer name is invalid" using targeted user preferences. Printer name is correct and drivers are on the server. Daft thing is, for 10 logins on that PC, 5/6 will work, the rest get the error. Same happens across the board. No particular reason as physical hardware/OS image are the same, and the users are the same groups. Teachers getting well pee'd off with the unreliability of printing in 10 and I can't say I blame them, I just wish I could offer a solution!

Hmm not sure we can do that, I think we need the inspection on to check what they're searching for!

Can you remember what you had to whitelist? I've already whitelisted the /embed link, and with various HTTPS inspection policies in place I don't want to overrule them.

The embed code does exactly the same thing, just drops off with no error and nothing is inserted into the page. I can see the hits on youtube going through the smoothwall at this time as well. Very bizarre. The embed code option does work in Word though!

Ours are all WSUS clients, so are installing update as reliably as can be expected with W10 - i.e sometimes! I've checked on one and its up to date, and not missing any updates when checking online either. With it working for domain admins I first suspected the smoothwall, but nothing flags up. I did see some old posts about whitelisting youtube.com/embed but we did that when we had issues with office 2013, this appears to be a new one.

These PCs all have the latest IE11 on them - and the whole process works for an admin so I'm hoping this is OK. It looks like the same player embedding into Word which works ok, so it does seem specific to PP.

Bit of an odd issue with PP 2016 here, that affects everyone other than admins - when they go to Insert and online video, and use the Youtube search dialogue they can select a video and then Insert it. However the video doesn't insert - you can see the message in the toolbar saying 'Powerpoint is inserting media' and then nothing else happens, no video appears However do the same thing in Word 2016 and it works fine. And it works fine for Word and powerpoint for admins! This is where is gets a bit tricky, our GPOs are very lightweight for Office so nothing is blocked there, so I've looked at our filtering (smoothwall) but can't see anything being blocked - and as Word works it would imply that filtering isn't the issue. Anyone else seen this? It would have made sense to me if it failed in both Word and PP, but its only PP that does nothing!
