  1. There is SOME evidence that you DON'T become immune, or for how long.
  2. The elephant in the room - "Herd Immunity" is the ONLY answer. Trying to get there without a vaccine, and allowing 390,000* people to die to achieve it, is immoral. *For herd immunity to work, about 60% of your population have to be immune, and currently, about 1% of those infected die. Round figures, and I'm sure someone will find different figures, but it is something close to this in general terms.
  3. Fighting in the "War Room" is not allowed.
  4. I think that the visors, in a clinical situation, are an adjunct to a mask. They would reduce the chances of the virus getting in through your eyes. Yes, that IS a thing. But only where there is a lot of it about.
  5. Lots of blokes drive Minis around Italy, but fail to drive a coach.
  6. You could stop here for a cuppa... Queen Liz parks here helicopter here sometimes. I'm sure there wouldn't be any issues.
  7. That could be excusable - if our economy wasn't the worst performing in Europe. I know there are other factors here as well, but that excuse is just that. An excuse for failing us utterly.
  8. Because they were told they had too. The U's didn't want to loose all the rent on their accommodation.
  9. (Almost) every SciFi film ever. A galactic civilisations expansion is stopped by lack of adequate antivirus serum.
  10. Conflicting computer instructions leave traveller stranded.
  11. I think you are close - however, the spring lock down worked (if too late) in keeping the Health Service's head above water, and allowing a relaxation of measures during the summer. Where the failure lies (again) is that the autumn tightening of controls is "too little, too late". My cat could have predicted the spike once schools, and even more so, Unis restarted. Shame Dido Harding couldn't despite having £12B and an Excel speadsheet.
  12. Cyber WHAT??! Apart from being crass on a superficial level, surely SOMEONE in govt coud get the less salubrious connotation?
  13. DM's are not what they once were... Now made in the far east with dubious quality control. My 25 year old pair have lasted well, but the soles were always a bit slippery; sorta-dorta has taken two pairs back after the uppers came away from the soles.
  14. There is PRECIOUS LITTLE 80s music...

    Door bells

I'm watching with interest. We have had a powered door with a code lock put on the building - guess how many of the 700 pupils can be *r**d to learn the code? They ring the bell, and one tech from each dept walks to the door. AAARRRGHH!! We have asked for a camera, and a remote "door open" button in each prep room. We are still waiting, a year on, and a lot of worn shoe leather.
  16. Nah; she's a friend* of Bozo, she's fire-proof. * Friend or 'friend'? I have no idea, but the above is accurate.
  17. Nope and nope. If you control the use of extension leads, and install them sensibly, tell officious "safety inspectors" to do one. 2A at 5V is 10W. A 13A socket can provide 3kW. Edit - late to party, I see that one has been sorted. I've got an Orangeck thing here that does 8 usb ports (one USB C) seems OK, and has a display to tell you what's going on.
  18. You (someone who can wield a soldering iron) could probably repair the existing ones for pence. Either re-flow the solder on the vol resistor, or replace it.
  19. A table in Word - perfect answer.
  20. I have NO confidence in ANYTHING coming from the govt at the moment. They seem to be making it all up as they go.
  21. It is a Chinese fake disease... Well that aged well. Trumpolini tested positive
  22. Depends why you're off. Busted foot? Log on and learn. Real flu - no chance!
  23. Finding a bank with an actual branch to walk into would freak ME out.
