  1. What a brilliant idea. Defo one for my DIY toolkit.
  2. Doh FPS. Anybody else got this and have it having tantrums with Windows 7? Looks like it is a permissions issue but I can't see where. Hateful.
  3. Another thumbs up for Allied Telesyn - they just seem to go on and on whereas other makes we've used seem to suffer from dying power supplies after a couple of years use.
  4. Go for the laxatives option then when people phone you up you can say you're too busy downloading something at the moment to help..... ;-)
  5. I just write death threats all over my milk and food with a black marker. They know not to mess with tech_guy!
  6. This is to stop staff and students who bring in their own laptops from being naughty.
  7. We've got an issue that has started to become a bit of a problem. Staff and students are sneakliy bringing their own USB cables in and using them to connect to various printers with their laptops so that they can bypass PaperCut on the networked printers and print to their hearts content. Is there anyway to block the USB connector on the printers other than by disconnecting the port inside the machine which is what one manufacturer has told us to do?! I know there are USB port blocking keys sold by Lindy but they are for the actual USB ports on PCs and not the USB port on a printer. Is there something similar? We tried supergluing a small piece of cut perspex over them but they just pull it off. Help and advice much appreciated.
  8. I'm 47 going on 48 - do I look like someone who would go out tooled up? I hope not. I've never had a problem with it in public - it's always on my belt. I got searched during the 26th March TUC March in London this year and the police weren't bothered by it.
  9. I love to stick one of those in to my car - how cool would that be?
  10. I've never heard of this before except in the case of foreign nationals. Why don't you query it with them? I would be unhappy to send originals.
  11. Get yourself one of these. Lifesaver. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gerber Suspension Multi Tool And it always raises a laugh on a job when I say to the ladies, "hang on whilst I get my tool out......" for some reason......

  18. We had a chav win it (innit) in a town nearby and so far judging by his court appearances so far he's been spending it on smack.
  19. No BS - PC just can't find primary and goes off wibbling looking for a PXE Boot option. HDD was NTFS formatted and set to primary. Image created on same type of PC as it's going on. No option in BIOS to toggle between IDE & AHCI - fixed as IDE in BIOS.
  20. Anyone else having problems with these PCs? Doesn't seem to matter how we push the Windows XP SP3 Sysprepped image on - Ghost, DriveImage XML, etc - the drive becomes non-bootable after the image goes on. Doing my head in now.
  21. Hi can anyone tell me if the client-install-local.exe that comes with PaperCut NG is the same as the one that comes with PaperCut MF? Many thanks.
