Enabling 2FA authentication is something which we would like to implement for our RDP server. ideally would like a system which is straight forward to use and manage as we only have a limited number of users with access. Duo security appears to fit that bill - has one one used it on here recently and would care to share their feedback? Other suggestions for achieving the same thing, i know what MS offer MFA as part of azure (as a school we dont use any azure services / only use O365 for providing licensing to office products)

From my own experiences with W10 and MDT you need to have the matching ADK and MDT for the version you are deploying. Id update both and try again

some might also say that the role of the IT Tech / NM will be devolved in schools?

struggling with the line "no money" school here will stagnate as IT isnt seen as a priority (scaling back on existing resources) so likely we will be looking to streamline what we have and mend and make do.

a decent film but get the impression that it is trying to achieve too much and is suffering, still cant see why it was sooooo hyped. marvel are going to over saturate us with all these films imo

i assume you have the windows.old folder as the OS has been upgraded at some point, if you attempt to deploy the image without doing anything to it so straight off the media does it still fail. i will be honest and think that if you used MDT for controlling your imaging process and just using WDS to provide PXE booting it will be easier to trouble shoot

do any of the WDS logs point to anything being wrong.

is it saying the unattend is missing?

Hi all, come accross a wierd problem, attempting to install the march/april rollup update into my reference image via MDT in the task sequence and it applies the image ok but then dumps out with a funny DISM 1726 error. I have enabled applying patches in the preinstall folder of the task sequence along with the state restore Windows update i can apply the update manually using DISM so i dont think the actual update is the issue. attached sample of the BDD and dism log mdt& dism error logs.txt

crontab guru is VERY useful, spent ages attempting to sort out a schedule and someone suggested i look at it. seeing it on screen suddenly made the examples and manual make sense.

Hi all, can anyone point me in the direction of a O365 Admin "crash course" as finding alot of the jobs i am looking for have O365 as a requirement/Nice to have and it isnt something which i have used from a Network Admin point of view. TYIA

yeah that should do the trick, iirc i didnt install a new instance of MDT just the WAIK and then ran the System Manager as though i was going to create a new answer file, and then the created CLG was then put in the operating system folder that you are working with on the X64 version of MDK/WAIK

MDT X64 wont be able to generate the CLG file (iirc) to be able to do anything with the X86 answer files you can copy this to the deployment share and the image manager is then able to work with the X86 answer file. its a bit of faffing about. id have to ask why do you need a x86 deployment when you already have X64 running

you will need a different answer file for the x64 and x86 machines. if you have updated your MDT install has it still got all your rules in the MDT share properties as this is where you can globally set things like language and region etc

speaking from using a couple of microservers at home and 7.2K HDD's in various configs, enabling & disabling disk cache makes such a difference in terms of pure throughput its comical. as its only a testing environment i dont have UPS and the like installed. For me 7.2K drives are not any good when you have a requirement for low latency low seek time etc applications (which is what SQL needs for certain workloads esp if its got something doing alot with it) SSD sounds like the way forward for the DB's which are being hammered

does the software require a database backend to function. we have a very old version of mixcraft and that runs standalone on each machine, but it wouldnt surprise me if the newer one required some kind of database to manage music samples or people using it. Or is it looking for a license server?

i had used none Dell branded Seagate drives and they work ok but do throw an alert for being a non dell certified drive. we did have a panic from a supplier who sent a drive out for a slightly older system which did not support native 4K sectors as some of the newer spare parts supplied by dell are 4K sectors only and no longer support emulation

might be that any sound alert would need to be enabled on the BIOS of the RAID card - old adaptec cards used to be like this and Intel/LSI stuff is still the same i believe.

it will be fine you just get a message at the top of the screen saying there is a license problem, which if you look at the console its just notifying you that its the legacy license in use.

i think they provide a service where they generate private keys as part of issuing the cert if you dont provide it yourself/not able to generate one
