  5. I was thinking mounting it to the back of a monitor then to the wall, connected to the network and then somehow let it display network status of servers, nas drives, virus alerts, helpdesk logs etc all displayed on one screen with a steady refresh rate. I wouldnt know where to begin but it would be a nice idea.

  10. Yeah thats pretty much bang on what I was thinking anyways and i did suggest that to the head. He just wants to know if theres anything else etc.
  11. Hi fellow Edugeeks, So the heads asked me about him wanting to create a survey in which pupils fill out in school with regards to how they feel about progress etc. Once all the data is collected he wants to be able to filter information quickly to see key areas. So for example in one instance, how much progress are female pupils doing in year 6 and then quickly see how well looked after at school male pupils in year 4 feel etc. What are your opinions on the best way to do this. Software thats on the internal network? Free or paid options? Any suggestions welcome.
  12. Before i came there was just the ICT coordinator who had all the items and just gave it out. Now with me here i get them to sign stuff out and i have noticed that they do take care because there name is associated with said item. As teachers require certain things at times which don't work for me or them, i looked into getting the head of year groups to be responsible for a year group camera etc which is used more commonly. The less common things stick with me and get booked out. Before giving things out i made sure each room had lockable storage so staff had no excuse and get the head to explain to them at the staff meeting about equipment as well as make them sign for the devices. So far its ok.
  13. Hello all newbies and welcome
  14. Have you tried 'Network and cabling solutions'? I had a high ceiling job in one of the classrooms and they arranged for scaffolding.
  15. Hi Tj I have used them a number of times to buy bulbs for projectors and there pretty good. Usually next day delivery. And they cater to education. Hope that helps

At the BETT fair i saw the serif stand briefly and from what i could see seems like a cheaper version of adobe (with probably less stuff but then again i don't know!). They have a dreamweaver style program from the looks of there website. -shrugs- I dunno haven't used the software myself so can't say much but maybe worth a gander. 23. It does feel quite nice the community spirit that edugeek has, you never know i might be tempted and mission it to the next edugeek conference.
  24. .....
  25. Had a good time at BETT and was really nice to pop down to the edugeek stand and say hi. BUT THEY LOST THE SILVER PEN when i went to sign the poster so my names wriiten with a biro in the circle area lol and feels so out of place ..... . Was nice to meet rick and pick up a microfibre cloth and lanyard. Hopefully see you guys again at BETT 2013. Maybe an idea would be source one of these avatar generators (The southpark ones) and imbed it on the edugeek website and then have a template for a 'I'm a edugeeker!' (Im sure Sysman would knock up a awesome template as with all his other awesome work) stick in our own avatars, print it and place it at the back of our BETT fair badges. If that happens then next year whoever prints the template and shows it off at the edugeek stand get a special free goodie or something.
