  1. That's interesting. I'm at a school in Tunbridge Wells and we lost 20 iMacs last Thursday. It's quite close. It seemed like a professional job. I wonder if schools are being targeted in the area.
  2. Has anyone upgraded to the new version of Lightspeed and installed the new Lightspeed Management Agent? I did the update last week and I'm in the process of setting up a new Windows 10 image with 1607. I noticed today that the LMA isn't authenticating users. They just get the portal screen. Lightspeed support have been very helpful and have been connected all day today but have not managed to fix it yet. Does anyone have the latest version (3.2+) working correctly on Windows 10x64 1607? Thanks.
  3. Excellent. That looks like it should do it. I'll give it a try once my test image has deployed!
  4. Has anyone found a way to turn off the windows defender popup shown below? We use SCCM to manage it, so would rather it just kept quiet. If you click 'Turn On' it just says 'Your system administrator manages these settings' or similar, so it's ultimately pointless!
  5. I found the language pack so all sorted now: http://download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/software/updt/2016/07/lp_a2190659cf7f64115fbee8a06de7bbad719ef6df.cab (x64 Version)
  6. Hi Lancia, Where did you get the International version from? Do you mean the 'N' edition? That Techbench site appears to have been shut down. Also they haven't published new language packs on VLSC and the old ones don't work.
  7. Interesting question. I've delved deeper and Solus is showing the following: Our computers are all on the 172.16..... range, so this is showing the local IP address at home (192.168....), which I guess is why it isn't working. Weird that it still sees it as online but can't communicate with it though. Edit: That is a screenshot above. It looks like a line! Click to enlarge.
  8. Before we spend too much time on it, has anyone had any luck getting Sims clients to update (via Solus) when they are connected from home over DirectAccess? Sims itself runs fine in this configuration but the updates don't deploy so if we do an update in the holiday, no one can access Sims until they bring their laptop in to be updated. Has anyone got this to work? If so, what did you do? Thanks very much.
  9. Great. Thanks. Thought I was missing something!
  10. Hi All, Is it correct to only have about 18 updates showing for Windows 10 in SCCM? Is this because the cumulative updates supersede the older updates and automatically remove them, or have I done something wrong. I was expecting to see hundreds of updates. It's had plenty of time to sync. Thanks.
  11. It's happening!
  12. Microsoft actually have a simple utility to do this: Microsoft Virtual Machine Convertor. For some reason it isn't very well publicised. Worked well for me though when we made the switch. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42497
  13. Reply to my email: Our datacenter had a major issue a couple of days ago which impacted a number of servers which included our main servers as well as the back-up servers. Unfortunately this incident has meant that we are having to replace the hardware and have all the services restored on to the new environment. The servers were replaced on Friday and the technicians are now porting all the data over. Due to the amount of data involved it looks like the sites will start being brought back on line late Monday afternoon. An email was sent out on Friday to all affected schools informing them that we had set up a temporary site that has the latest updates. The site can be found at http://www.InternetKitSupportUpdates.co.uk We apologise sincerely for the inconvenience that this is causing you but rest assured we are putting substantial pressure on our datacentre partner to get our services restored as the highest priority
  14. Thanks, I have now sent an email too. From searching google it appears that all .ik.org sites are still down.
  15. Thanks, I've given that a try. Doesn't look like there has ever been much activity on it though. Will see what happens. Looks like quite a few primary schools are affected.
  16. A primary school I provide some support for uses Internet Kit for their website. http://www.internetkit.co.uk It a very basic web design and hosting service. It seems to have suddenly stopped working and can't get through on the phone. Anyone else use it and have the same issue? Their entire website seems to have gone down and phone number just asks to leave a message.
  17. We would also like to get this working. The RD Client is great, but getting 200+ students to type in a huge URL is problematic. If anyone knows if this is possible via plists we would like to know too! Thanks.
  18. Ahh, thanks. The problem was I only had the plist file. I asked Impero support and they sent me the ipa. Got it working now. Now just need to work out if I can stop it being uninstalled without turning off removing apps completely!
  19. Has anyone worked out how to deploy Impero to iPads using the Lightspeed MDM? Instructions from Impero only discuss Meraki and the process with Lightspeed looks very different. I can't find any way to use the .plist file but I'm really not sure where to look. If anyone has any pointers I would be grateful. Thanks.
  20. This is the page you need. Also links to the SCCM guide: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/packager/deploying-packages.html
  21. There is a tool called the Creative Cloud packager that creates MSIs for you. Unfortunately it isn't that simple as for most of the apps you also have to run an EXE (also created by the packager) before or after the MSI install. I did it with SCCM in the end. There are full instructions for SCCM deployment on the Adobe website. I created a package that contained the MSI as one program, and the exe as a second program and then used the 'run this program first' option to install them in the right order. I could not get it to install as a SCCM application, had to use the old package method.
  22. Have you tried access the report from here: MX Lookup Tool - Check your DNS MX Records online - MxToolbox We were blacklisted earlier in the year. It turned out to be a laptop that had a virus that was trying to contact a monitored address. The report told us which monitored address was being contacted and we were able to search for that IP on our web filter and trace it back to the compromised laptop. Once the virus was removed there is a one click process to get yourself off the blacklist. As far as I can tell our network was not actively spamming, so your situation may be different. MXToolbox should give you an idea of why you have been blacklisted though.
  23. Looks like I made mistake when I applied the reg entry to stop the server checking the client language: This is what you need: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout] "IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout"=dword:00000001 Seems a bit odd that the client language is read as US English when the client is running on an iPad set to UK Engish, but the above entry does the trick when applied to the app server.
  24. Hi All, We have set up a server running Remote Desktop Services, and we have set it up as a gateway for several 'RemoteApp Programs'. We have added the Office suite, and a number of other Apps. It works great, and all the programs can be run from a browser, Windows, or iPads. The annoying problem we have is that no matter what we try the iPads always defaults to US english (I have been focusing on Microsoft Word). We have: Removed all languages except UK English from the server. Set the default Keyboard language in the registry / group policy. Installed the UK language pack and enabled it. Set UK as the language in every location we can find, including the option to 'Copy to New User Accounts'. Tried a registry key that is supposed to stop the server checking the remote client language - Didn't help! Logging in to the remote app from a windows machine gives the correct UK language (and doesn't even present US as an option). The iPads are all set to United Kingdom in their language settings. I am baffled as to where it is getting US English from at all as it's not on the server. Is this just a bug where the iPad tells the server to use US, or has anyone got UK langauge to work on an iPad in a remote app. Yes, it is possible to change the language from the language bar thing, but I would rather not have to have this showing up at all. Thanks.
  25. Hi, I have a couple of questions about Impero that I hope someone can give me some advice on. I used Impero in my previous job, and thought it was great, but in my new school the setup is very different. We have a lot of Citrix thin clients, and the students all have iPads. 1) Does Impero work ok with Citrix based thin clients? Is it more tricky to set up groups based on rooms if you don't know which virtual machine you might get from the server? 2) Is there any way to monitor iPad use? I know you can monitor FROM an iPad, but can you monitor the student iPads. I realise this is tricky because the students aren't logged in. Thanks very much.
