This looks similar to the error you get on Windows 7/2008 when you haven't been enabled for remote access under Advanced System Configuration. You can add users manually, maybe give that a try. Turn on Remote Desktop in Windows 7, 8 or Vista

I would say a Dell or HP offering would suffice, Are you going to buy a license for VMWare ? If not the free version is good but it has it's limitations.

Personally for this... I'd just use Owncloud. Authenticates via AD and you can map the home drive to the OwnCloud DIR - it's all web based and can edit files online and they are updated instantly. We use owncloud, our sales guys use it when they go out on site visits, to update information about customers etc. All done via the web. Log in with their AD credentials. We use to use Novell iFolder, same functionality but isn't supported anymore.

I know of some places using Citrix for remote access. Are you looking for a paid of free solution ? There are some WEBDAV type solutions out there that students can loginto and access certain files, even edit them on-line and save them back. ownCloud.org | Your Cloud, Your Data, Your Way! IBM x3650 M3 - I think we got it for just under 2k, we also have a Dell 2950 which is just used as a backup but is running ESXI cost me just under £50, We Also have a couple of development servers for running ESXI which are HP Proliants ML110 G7's which are about £300, all servers have 12-24 GB of RAM and 2+ TB Storage - we have A SAN so don't need loads of internal storage on servers. All of our servers are running the free version of ESXI as this is all we require.

managing VM's is NO different to managing a physical machine and the amount of VM's you have depends on what VM's you need and what your VM host/server can handle.

Yeah not a bad idea, it's all to do with freeing up space on my VMserver too I need that spare space that I have on the Unallocated disk. It's due to be removed when Server is next shutdown.

From reading on the internet.. Dynamic Disks are being typically used for anything larger than 2TB in size, mines a lot less. I reckon with permissions etc I Might be able to cheat in that I could use GParted to clone my F - into the Free space, delete F partition, resize Drive C and then Move the new partition on free space to 'F'. Surely there's a way to do this without taking the DC offline though ???

I've no idea, they've always been Basic, I've extended other volumes on Basic before. Whats the difference ?

As you can see I need the free space after 'C', but I can't seem to move it!! - - - Updated - - - Thought about this, don't know how I'd go about it with permissions etc for the profiles.... I suppose what I could try is clone F to the free Space (D), Then extend drive C, and the change the drive letter of D to F, this then shouldn't have any problems... but does anyone know of anything else I could try first ??

I've created a partition on my free space and changed the drive letter to 'D' but it's still after drive 'F' in Disk Manager, Drive C still won't expand to this volume. Any Ideas anyone ? Thanks - - - Updated - - - Tried removing D - I didnt get the Expand option.

Hi all, I am down to 2 GB on my DC, I've cleaned it up as much as possible. Unfortunately this DC was originally built on minimal specs then converted over to VMWare and we did away with the physical box. Here's my problem: Drive C is almost full, After Drive C I have Drive F which is were all profiles etc are stored. I've added / extended the space in VMWare but obviously I need to resize the actual drive C, I've added free Space as 'D' but it's after F. Hence - Drive C wont expand. Is there a way around this ? is there a quick n dirty way to fix this so I can extend the Drive C into D ? Or anyway I can move D so that it comes after C ? Thanks all - hope this makes sense!!

In your guide, youc ould maybe add that IF your DHCP is coming from another DHCP server/router other than the one thats used in Windows you may need to add the following line for network boot. boot\x64\wdsnbp.com
