What password reset tools do you use? Ie Live CD's to change or show local user passwords. My one seems to have stopped working! (Probably sue to the fact its from 2009 and im trying to recover passswords from W7/ W8) Matt

It came with the original PC, a ZooStorm one. Ive had an awful amount of issues lately, particuarly with crashes. I may replace it with a more trusted brand! Any ideas what can be done about the faulty DIMM socket? I upgraded to Windows 8, hated it and downgraded back to 7. Since then it said 8Gb installed (4Gb useable). I replaced the RAM (Luckily it was only 2 weeks old.) and still does it. The PC will not boot with the RAM in the faulty socket but does with the non faulty. Its frustrating having 8Gb but only using 4. Any ideas?

I bought a PC a while ago and have made a few changes to it over time. Its got: AMD A4-330 w/ GlacialTech Igloo 5620 4Gb RAM (Should be 8Gb but one off my DIMMS is dead!) nVidia Ge-Force210 Graphics card 2 x 1Tb HDD's 1 x DVD Drive 4 x Case fans all with blue LED's 1 x blue cold cathode tube 1 x 300W PSU The PC boots and runs with no problems (Bar the fact that one of my DIMM sockets is duff!) but was wondering if my PC is underpowered in your opinion? Its been troubling my as ive been upgrading it but never paid it any attention! As ever thanks Edugeekers! Matt

If you're running Server 08 R2 go to GP. Create or edit your lockdown policy and go to User Prefs>Windows>Start Menu> Right click>New. Select the options you want but change "Administritive tools" to do not display, and apply. Damn, beaten to it!

Thanks Synack, having checked the UPS's the RJ45 socket is actually serial and USB. Would have been good, but I didnt choose these UPS's . Thanks everyone for your suggestions! What i might do is see if i can make a scehduled task run to shutdown another server when a power outage is detected.

Sorry if this is the wrong place, couldnt find anywhere more specific for UPS's. We have four servers... and just bought 2 APC Back-UPS Pro 900's. Are we able to connect the APC's in such a way that they will tell all 4 servers to shutdown at a power outage? Ie, install the PowerChute software on each server. and plug one UPS into the network via the RJ45 socket they normally converts into a USB plug, which would tell all four to turn off? Any help appreciated, Matt.

We use Comodo Backup. Have it on each file server, set to service run, running incremental backup each night. Once its done a backup of everything it just backs up the changes to files and adds new ones. Best thing is its free! *edit* Forgot to add, once its done its initial backup (which will take an age to move 900Gb data, whatever solution you use) it takes half an hour to an hour depending on new files etc.

You would think this is easy.. I cannot find a solution anywhere! I need to disable the Wireless button on 30 HP 655 laptops. What is the easiest way that you can think of? Preferably something that does not involve stripping down each one! The button is on the keyboard so desoldering/disconnection is not an option. As far as im aware the HP quicklaunch driver is not installed on these, unless WSUS has pushed it. Matt
