WMware ESXi Post Install Setup
fairm010 replied to lafleur1977's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
Yep, as above. I installed my first ESXi host a while back and once you are licensed you are good to go. I will say though, it's a good idea to poke around the software and see what is where first. It will save time when you come to create VM's. -
Hi Nick, The Display Name field is already filled in with the users full name.

Yes, definitely! -
Hi @nickbro I'm having some problems with the v10 helpdesk. One being this error when attempting to do anything with an existing ticket such as Update. The other being this one when anyone logs a ticket. Also, I know you added things such as only allowing staff to view announcements and assests within the helpdesk, do you have any documentation on how to use this? TIA

Derp, I've fixed it. Removed the bit in web.config that says, quite logically, remove this bit for IIS8

Joomla! (3) install with MSSQL Express, help!
fairm010 replied to fairm010's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I chose MSSQL because I already have a few databases in there and wanted to keep it uniform ideally. What harm would arise if I used MySQL on my MSSQL box? Would it run alongside ok? -
Hi @nickbro, just installed HAP v10 on a new dev Server running server 2012, all going well apart from I get no styles. You said above "You may need to check your web.config" but what exacly am I checking for? TIA

I'll give that a shot, I had installed PHP previously the old fashioned way. -
Joomla! (3) install with MSSQL Express, help!
fairm010 replied to fairm010's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Nope, same thing. My gut feeling is there may be a permissions issue but as I say, I know literally nothing of SQL and its links into PHP. I'm migrating my IIS server to Server 2012 today while the kids are out so will come back to this soon. -

I have followed the instructions in this thread: Install joomla 2.5 using SQL server db! | Joomla I have copied the DLL's and added them into the php.ini file. I'll try the sa account now. -
Luckily most of my route that I have planned is cycle track / river walkways.

I am by no means experienced when it comes to this! I am trying to install a brand new install of Joomla 3 on our web server that also hosts HAP and another website in the aim of making a new school website but am having some difficulty. It wants me to connect it to an SQL database, great I thought, I'll connect it to my HAP logon tracker and VAMT database. The following screenshot shows my dilemma. Please can anyone shed some light!? TIA

The idea is that I wont have to carry anything such as laptop etc other than phone, keys etc

I always have a change of clothes in my Office so that's covered. I'll definitely get some decent lights and repair kit for the bike though.

Sounds like some Bear Grylls business! - - - Updated - - - I'm pretty sure I have that one sorted, cheers!

I have made the decision that I will start cycling to work as I'm gaining weight and fed up of it! It is a 6 mile trip from home to work (Pretty scenic route, crossing 2 rivers en route) I ask you fellow Edugeekers, what do I need to make sure I have for the journey? I know there was a thread a while ago about cycling but I can'ne find it and I remember it was HUGE. TIA!

I chuckled at that, that is something sounding typical of Apple. "We have no malware / viruses; you cant visit anywhere to get them! - Computers, Re-Invented"

Alex you need to tick this box which will push all perms set on that folder down to all children -
I used this order from this thread and it worked a treat. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/133273-broadband-install-need-change-ip-ranges.html#post1141151 My process was: Statically set a laptop my current range and run Angry IP Scanner on the current range (just to get everything) Change the servers IPs to the new range Change the DHCP scope to the new range Change any reservations Turn the switches off/on again (This causes a re-lease on every device) Re Run the IP Scan Change the important devices in the left overs list first Change the IP Printer ports on the print server Re Run the IP Scan Plod through the remaining devices and change them Repeat Steps 9 & 10 until the IP Scan returns only the laptop you set statically
