We're having the exact same problem, I have disabled all the plugins that we use for all our other processes, but winword.exe doesn't close properly, so I can be sat at 0/300 reports, once I close the first it processes them, but then crashes as soon as InTouch loads to email them out. I have logged a case, there are similar issues raised on the Facebook Data Managers forum.

Hi noohad, We had a similar problem, the problem was found to be the size of the photos for our students, we were using 76kb jpgs, which is fine for normal use, but excessive in a 2cmx2cm thumbnail in 4Matrix, we used ifranview to resize the images down, and found a massive increase in the speed of processing. - 4Matrix reloads all the photos into the background of each screeen ready for when you hover over a data item. We were using Facility so we created a copy of the images (synced the photos) and scheduled irfanview to produced 5kb image files instead.

Just to check, Why are you deleting former student records? - Have you kept all your SEN students at least - and those who have ever applied - but turned down for SEN, or those with CP issues? Again, why?

If you have access to the their FFT estimates, you can download their scores as sublevels from their, or fine levels which are even more accurate. - Depending on which graph the DfE choose to use next year. As the DfE provided their scores, they are the ones you will be measured against. (plus an new starters that aren't on FFT). We then import the grades into 4Matrix and let it work it's magic.

We really enjoy using 4Matrix, however I do understand your frustration, of the "close it down, re-open it", reimport and try again issues. However I wouldn't be without it! The positives of 4Matrix are as advertised it is really good, but there are some niggles... The biggest problems we have 4Matrix, is 1) MIS ID isn't available on every export screen - This is a huge frustration when you want to throw some data into excel and do some fun things with it. 2) The VA target setting screen is flaky, very flaky. - I have lost count of the JIT runtime errors from this screen. 3) (minor) Screen resolution - When running our training on 1024x768 monitors in the ICT lab we struggle to fit everything on the screen 4) 4M have the understandable view that all staff should do things on screen - printing is an afterthought. However our SLT want EVERYTHING on paper on file as well. - Bulk printing isn't possible for most reports. 5) No web version - this is ok at the moment - but all staff have iPads and as we also have SISRA the 'use at home' is limited to the terminal server. - We use both as there is BIG gap 4M and SISRA in terms of cross-over. In terms of admin, we have one person who is responsible for getting data into 4Matrix (me). We have Active Directory integration so no-logins required - one less barrier to uptake - we have two factor auth for Windows, so we're happy with this arrangement. Chris at 4Matrix technical support is excellent should you have any problems. If I were you I would persevere with 4Matrix, just remember to get your data correct on the spreadsheet before importing. AND keep a copy of your data your importing don't just discard it.

It is a great spanner, effectively English Language can be ignored, literally to down to a grade U, if there is a chance of someone being able to recite and interpret poetry. In our school, students score better on Literature than Language, so our performance will seem to improve, without even having to make a change.

For KS3: We use SISRA and 4Matrix, I can't recommend either highly enough. SIMS is great but for regular day-to-day use Discover isn't currently up-to where we are with SISRA and 4Matrix already - both are in use with Teachers, Curriculum Leaders and SLT on a daily basis. With you being a middle school I can understand you're in between two stools as far as software companies in designing and targeting their software.

We use Test level data where we have it, and TA data to make up the shortfall, we only use the Data the DFE hold so as to ensure we are comparing ourselves in the same way as we will be compared, - IF a TA isn't available on K2S. We use TA data for students who join from independent schools - though they usually aren't submitted to DFE so will be shown in the N/A other row of the KS4 performance tables when they leave.

pingleby, yes The first 5 slots are reserved for En, Ma, Combination of:(Sci, Sci, MFL, Hum) The last 3 slots are reserved for another other EBACC subject not already counted, another other GCSE, or any other 2016 approved qualification (max 3). When a slot is empty, it counts 0, - therefore the average is pulled down, remembering that E/M count double so would have a double effect. (Statistically) It is better for a student to score a G than nothing, remembering the 10 extra point benefit, - 6 points between each normal grade, but 16 points between a G and a U. I put together a basic spreadsheet which lists each subject in it's order, i.e. English, Maths, EBACC, then the rest, with a formula to count the E, M, best EBACC, and then remainder of other subjects. This layout can then be used give a points value to E&M (0-58), a points value to the largest 3 items in the EBACC columns, and then a points value to any grade other than those already used. Then divided by 8.

Hi ee31ag, DavidLong is correct on that, as a L1 course the maximum points is 34. (equ to a grade D). I can see on the edexcel website what they say about it being a C: AiDA, CiDA, CiDA+ and DiDA results explained : Edexcel, but OFQUAL beat Edexcel in a game of "paper, rock, scissors, lizard, spock, exam regulator, exam board".

The thing to remember here is the different URN number. The DFE number (i.e. LA/establishment) usually remains the same upon conversion. If you have access to the imgateway, this access will also change so download any KS5 reports from here as well. But yes, quickly export the reports otherwise you won't have them

For your students who joined within the last two years from a non-english speaking country, try to get hold of their passport and stamp (if Non-EU). You may be asked for evidence of their arrival into the UK.

Can someone come round and pick me up up off the floor! "Fully Accountable", are you using the same LLN as the rest of us? To who? When we were a local authority school LLN threatened us with legal action, - despite being the same legal entity! LLN hasn't been raised in council or committee in over a year, according to LCC committee minutes, despite all the changes that are being undertaken Profit isn't always a bad thing. LLN hasn't had to make a profit so how did the VLE work out or OpenHive or Active Directory integration? We can keep going but eventually start to drag up old issues. With profit you turn around and refuse to pay until it's fixed or walk away.

Our first two uploads were CTFs straight out of Facility, but because that didn't include leavers, or out of year students, it seemed to cause half of the problems we then encountered. - Good Luck!

Afternoon Everyone, Hopefully you already have access to the http://tableschecking.education.gov.uk website. If you don't, your headteacher will have received a letter with a username and password last week. By the end of next week you need to go through the listed students on the KS4 and remove any student that shouldn't be included in your performance tables: Any student that came to the UK from a non-English speaking country within the last two years: - Check your when your Eastern European students arrived (unless they are going to give a +ve VA) Any student who was PX'd from another school. - They don't belong on your figures - They will go onto the original school (sorry). Anyone who has immigrated - Self Explanatory BUT any student who has left to be educated on a foreign military base (i.e. US bases in England), don't select this use "Other". Deceased Pupil not at the end of Key Stage 4 - any student who has been held back in Yr10, usually SEN students, - THOUGH these students will be in the next year's figures NO MATTER WHAT. Left school before exams - The DFE will require evidence about this Other - (see the immigration option) or any other reason to try remove students. - Give as much information as possible to justify - the [email protected] helpdesk who run the site are VERY GOOD at checking and getting back to you about which reasons the DFE will accept. This will reduce the size of your cohort which may improve your KS4 results. But you only have until the end of the week.

You can upload into excel, but you have to use their excel template - you can't use your own. - It is password protected you'll have to do vlookups/index match to link the UPN of the students they expect compared to those students you ACTUALLY have. We uploaded ours at the beginning of the week, and have been bombarded with calls from the NCA re students who have left, students who have joined, etc. In the first two calls we were told there are "7 students missing from your submission" but they wouldn't say who these were. During the week we have now submitted this information 5 times. If you have problems get it escalated to a NCA manager - if the data doesn't exactly match their records - i.e. a student has changed their name via deed-poll (or court order) - we've had both, the NCA want the data changing at our end and re-submit.

gazskeltz, the QSR report WAS available from the tableschecking.education.gov.uk website, however this data has now been removed. If you contact your LA Data Team (even if you're an Academy) they will have a copy, though they may not realise they have it as we found out.

Hi CAM, the easiest source of this "4.2123342" type grades is FFT. Whilst the DFE hold this information somewhere we can't find it, we only seem to be able to get whole levels from K2S.

We also use Facility/e-Portal, and ran away from Progresso when we have an on-site demo, - not just the powerpoint slides. We also had a week onsite with access to Bromcom, this was clearly the better system, only the name has held SLT back from making the change. My experience of Scholar Pack is that it does lots - just. - Again this is my own experience others may have had better experiences. I've not had access to Aspen. If you want to change to a system that everyone-else uses then there is SIMS, but if you are already using Facility then there is probably a historical reason in your school (like ours) why you don't use it.

We use K2S for KS2 data when it isnt' transferred to us from the CTF, primaries and other schools sometimes forget to include Assessment data in their CTF. This year we are using FFT, however from September we are switching to 3/4/5 levels of progress for our L3/L4/L5 students. i.e. L2/L3 at KS2 are targetted for 3 levels, and L5 students targetted for 5 levels. When we trailled this against current Yr11 it was one of the few ways to gain VA >1000.

Hi markberry, We've been very reluctant to go to Progresso, can you confirm that this isn't a default widget? The quick ability to find people is surely a minimum requirement on online MISs?

We have a 3 year KS3 and 2 year KS4. We are planning (we have modelled the outcomes on previous students to see if it is a "fair target") which suggests for KS2-L3 they make 3 levels of Progress (LoP), KS2-L4 4 levels and KS2-L5 5 levels, if they don't make these figures we would end up with a negative VA, which is our schools curse! In doing this our 3LoP must make 1 2/3 in Ks3, 4LoP must make 2, and 5LoP must make 2 2/3, our modelling suggests this is very aspirational at KS4, but "high-but fair" at KS4. For English, Maths and Science we use the relevant KS2 subject, but for other subjects we use an average of all 3 subjects, we used used to exclude Maths as it gave a very high estimate, but without it, we had very very borderline VA.

Short reply but: 1. Yes 2. Yes - install, operation, updates 3. Only used it for school finance, basic student records, but a huge client install (even more than SIMS!) We only took it forward because we needed to transfer from WCBS Unix.

We use 4Matrix and SISRA, (we are a Facility/CMIS school). 4Matrix As has been mentioned using CMIS we have to do a lot of importing via spreadsheets, but that is the nature of many connectors to CMIS. The support is primarily by email, or remote support once an issue has been raised, it isn't ideal it is nice to speak to people straight away, but many of the issues are user error! The development is coming on well and there is an automatic update each month or so. The latest version includes target setting for students. This is helping us to try ensure that all students achieve a positive VA - Something we haven't seen in other products. If you have your data head on then it becomes very quick to use and informative, it paid for itself easily during OFSTED being able to beat down questions by inspectors. I admit the research groups take a bit of putting together, but once they are in, it is an extremely powerful tool. The ability to birng up a classgroup and show "this teaching group is underacheiving AND here the evidence A, B, C and D" that 4Matrix provides is an extremely valueable tool. We provide all staff with data, so they can perform their own self analysis of their class. 4Matrix is currently only KS4 only, which is a shame, though they are currently working on KS3 and KS5 versions. SISRA SISRA is a web based product that covers all 3 key stages, the layout once "in the data" is good and easy to drill through, however find the right data-set (the year in which a year 7 students in year 11 i.e. "2016-2017" is more difficult for the teachers, but these can be annotated to help find the correct data-set. Support for SISRA is by their on-screen chat window, again limited telephone support, but once it is up and running, I have only used the support window 3 times in 2 years. SISRA calculates levels of progress for core and for all subjects at both KS3 and KS4. A really good feature. We use both SISRA and 4Matrix together, as 4matrix provides a much greater depth at KS4, whilst SISRA covers all the "extra" elements. I would recommend using both, it does double your inputs, but the outputs are much greater! I wouldn't rely on the MIS alone! ... I woudn't rely on the MIS.
