How do people who use win 7 achieve this? The reason I ask is because user areas get renamed to documents so staff can't see who's area is who's.

Can Sky tv be shown in school via tv or the sky player website? Or do you need a public license like pubs etc require? Guessing need the public license but cant find anything on sky's website that says. Edit With the sky player I mean if for example I own Sky at home and have access to the sky player website am I allowed to use this in school for students to view?

Hi, Is it possible to sync photos from sims.net and set it as the display pictures for live@edu? Or any kind of import. If that's not possible is there a way to set the same display picture for all users? ( e.g school logo ) Thanks

Hi Alan, Did you set the quota path on D:\home ? Set the quota on the year folders instead, so D:\home\07 You will have to make a couple of quotas though to point it at each year folder.

You can use FSRM to run a report to find 'Least recently accessed files' and 'most recently accessed files'

Can you use the smart notebook software? Download software - SMART Technologies As far as I'm aware it will work with all smartboards and as long as you own a smart board you are licensed to use the software ( Have to enter a smart board S/N to get activation key )

I've just recently setup FIM, PCNS and SSO for live@edu At the start it might seem hard to setup, but actually it's rather easy and there is lots of good documentation to follow. I'm happy to try help if you have any questions. I find SSO very useful, especially for students. Since all email accounts are created from AD using FIM and olsync everyone's email account name is [email protected] Very easy for all to remember when using email outside of school, plus having PCNS to sync the passwords makes it even easier. It’s especially good for students as it stops them 'pretending' they've forgot their school email and password to get out of lessons. You can add dns entries so Outlook auto discovers the settings when setting up an Outlook profile. This is good for staff that have laptops because they can easily setup outlook themselves and use the same application in and outside of school.

If you having a product like Impero I say use that. If not, I guess you could use Group Policy Preference to push out the registy value to autologon to the computers. Just make sure you set the policy the day before at the end of the day and the machines get powered off at night so the policy applies. Then when the exams are finished use GPP to delete the auto logon registry value. Will work if having nothing else.

Hi, So what's a good, but cheapish tablet to put windows 8 on for testing and stuff? Not really sure how I do this either since tablets generally come with own os.

In the sysprep file there is a section where you can list the number of times you want it to auto logon as well. I've forgot what the line is called though...

Just give him access to reset passwords for the start? And then as you train him/Gain his trust, alter the permissions to suit the jobs he needs to do.

Not read whole thread - But you can use Group Policy software restriction policys to prevent certain file types such as .exe from running. As well as this you can setup FSRM on the file server to prevent these file types from being saved on the network. Have here and love it. A thing I like to do at the moment to mess with the heads of students is this. Block their fave game website using Impero and set a policy so their internet gets banned for 2 minutes when that website is visited. It's funny seeing them trying to get back on the website,then after 2 minutes the internet ban removes and they try the website again and get internet blocked again! It's my entertainment of the day...=]

Shutdownertron never worked correctly for me I only suggest because I know some people do use it fine. I use Impero myself to shut-down computers, and before that a scheduled task.

Yeh it could be easier than it is, but still good and going to use Have it syncing passwords and creating user accounts, so that's the main thing. Would just be nice if I could get this working as well.

I've got olsync to sync user accounts and passwords, all works fine. Has anyone had success getting it to sync security groups and create them as distribution groups and add the members? Thanks
