  1. As others have said link the GPO to the OU's that require it ( Providing your OU's are structured in a way this is possible ) Or you could apply the GPO at top level and narrow it down using security filtering.
  2. When you were on XP did your machine sync with the server? If you go to outlook.com do you see your folders? Could you use activesync instead of imap
  3. I'd just set one up, capture an image with wds and deploy as normal. Just remove the parts from sysprep that would usually join them to a domain
  4. Ohh could be why. Will test it. I've got one of the models working now though. I re-created the task sequence and set it up again and it worked perfectly. Now there just this last model, but like you say, it might be because I was using the wrong information
  5. If it keeps logging onto the local admin account after deploying an image with WDS it's quite likely your sysprep file has a number larger than 1 set for the admin account logon. If you don't want the admin account to log in you need to edit this. Or if it's remembering the last logged in user do as Sidzilla says.
  6. You would be better off demoting controller 1 instead of just turning it off and then trying to clean up, but of course ensure you've transferred all the roles before you do this
  7. Yup double checked using the powershell command "wmic csproduct get name" and "wmic csproduct get vendor" both are reporting back the same as I have my driver group structure set as. In the task sequence I have inject drivers set to nothing, and then then a task sequence variable for Drivergroup001 pointing at windows 7\%Make%\%Model% , so as far as I'm aware that should work?
  8. Hi, Sort of urgent so if any one has time to help it be much apeciated. Having trouble with MDT injecting drivers I use the %Make%\%Model% process and all drivers have been added correctly in "Out of box drivers" I have two laptop models (HP Probook 6555b and 6545b) that wont get any drivers added. I cant seem to find any logs to see what is going wrong, and I'm not sure why the drivers dont get injected because they are in correct location, correct version drivers (Downloaded from HP website ) and other laptop models seem to be getting the drivers injected fine. Anyone got any ideas of where I can look to try figure this out?
  9. Indeed great result. Shows how far GB cyclists have progressed in the last few years. Now for the Olympics !
  10. Thanks. I've read up on this but from what I read your local authority has to register on your behalf. We are moving away from the LA for ISP, hosting and everything near enough, so I dont really want to get them involved in this, and for 10£ a year a purchased SSL cert will be ok Just reading up on what will break if I change the hostname of my smoothwall.
  11. Ah right yeh I guess I could do that. Good idea If I do this I would need to regenerate the certificates used for https inspection/VPN etc though right?
  12. It's for guest wifi SSL login page (Smoothwall), so needs to be a cert from a trusted CA so people are not constantly greeted with a warning I wanted to use 123-reg because it seems to be the cheapest by far at £9.99 a year SSL certificates | Internet security | 123-reg.co.uk The problem is when I click buy and Log In to my account it asks for a domain name, and when I enter the internal domain name which the certificate is for it doesn't accept it, so I'm not sure how to buy a cert from them for my internal domain
  13. I want to buy a ssl cert from 123-reg for our internal domain ( school.local ) as they are the cheapest. During the buy proccess it asks for a domain name, so I type school.local However it doesnt accept this. I presume because it's not a known domain to the outside world. How do I buy a cert for my internal domain if it doesnt accept the domain name?
  14. Seems to be working nicely Only problem on the student user accounts i've renamed all the accounts to first initial surname, but their home drive folders are a mixture of surnamefirstname, firstnamesurname, first initial surname. Is there a script I can run to change all the folders username to match the users ad account name?
  15. Oh nice looks promising. I will give it a go. Didn't realise wisesoft had a tool for this. I use their BulkAD tool
  16. What's the easiest way to set permissions on users home drives? I've been doing some research on scripts etc but struggling to understand, so If anyone has some example scripts and can kindly share that would be great. I need to re-do the permisons for all home drives and I want domain admins to have full control on all folders, then the user to have modify access on their folder ONLY, i.e \\server\staff\jbloggs jbloggs would have modify access but KPerry would have no access. Hope that makes sense.
  17. A bit off topic, but what makes you say you can just about get away with it for Sims? I'm about to do this, and from all my testing I've done joining Sims server to a different domain effects nothings and works nicely ( Apart for Sims shared permision - Which is easy enough to set back ) You worry me saying this^^ Make's me think my testing might of lied to me !
  18. Rebuilding domain and need to rebuild the server for FIM and olsync. How do I go about setting up FIM on the new domain? Can I just install and setup olsync as normal and then export and import the database for the old windows domain? Or can I just use a new database that it adds when I install FIM ? If I do this it wont create duplicate users in the windows live domain? Hope that makes sense. Any one who's done this before and give advice would be appreciated, thanks.
  19. Thanks. Maybe someone from smoothwall @tom_newton can comment if theres any planned updates for this?
  20. Oh right. Thanks. My bad. So what's the network ups settings for in smoothwall? Do some UPS's support signalling over the network? Thanks all.
  21. Andd sorry the actual UPS is a APC Smart-UPS RT 8000 XL
  22. See attached image I'm wanting to connect to the ups via network so the smoothwall shuts down correctly when on battery. I just don't know what port number to use.
  23. Hi, Trying to configure smoothwall to work with the UPS. smoothwall wants the ip address and port number. How do I find the port number it needs? I've looked all through the web console on the apc, direct console into the apc and cant find a port number to use. Only ports I see are the standard port 23 and 80 for telnet/http. The model number is AP9619 if it helps. Thanks
