Yeah I noticed this - but I guess since you're forwarded to PayPal gateway for payment, the payment details are secure. Plus, if they have a professional guy there to protect their site, why are we worried?

Thanks - oddly when forwarded to PayPal checkout from their site, it just won't log me into PayPal. Anywhere else it seems fine. I've emailed their support to see if they can send me a PayPal invoice and pay it direct from PayPal - should still give me some protection that way.

Did you pay via PayPal? For some reason, it won't sign into my PayPal account, just sits on the spinny logging in popup you get with PayPal checkout. Just purchased from Godaddy via PayPal checkout though and no problem :S can't figure out where the issue lies.

Thanks guys, So in regards to homebrew games that people may have published online for free, technically I should have no legal problem with ripping apart an original megadrive game for example and replacing the eeprom microchip with one I've reprogrammed, as long as the creator has licensed it for this type of use? Not quite the same playing on the variations of games available online on the PC, especially when I have a perfectly good collection of consoles to play them on Anyone done anything similar? Had any experience with this? Read a fair bit of info online regarding it - seems simple enough

Hi all, I'm sure we have a few others of you on the forum, but I myself have an interest in "retro" games... My favourites being around the Megadrive / PS1 sort of era. I personally like to think of them as not being retro, but I guess they're seen that way now. Anyway, I've recently started a bit of a collection and have been looking at some reproduction games. Namely for consoles such as the NES, SNES, Megadrive, Gameboy etc...The ones that take cartridges. And basically wondered what everyone's opinions are on reproduction cartridges for Megadrive / SNES etc? Been thinking about making some myself - not of general release games - but of games that never made it to release, homebrew games (surprisingly there are a good amount of these online) or modded ROMs. Anything I make I will also be marking as reproduction in some way, so should I ever let it go to someone, it can't be sold as a genuine article. On the same matter, what is the legality of that ^ If the games were never released or are modded / homebrew in some way, is it technically legal?

Thanks for everyone input on this. Unfortunately this has been on the back burner for a couple of months due to moving house etc, but I'm starting back on it now. In short yes, but the screen I've looked at powers from USB, so it seemed easier to run everything from USB if such as device was available. I'm thinking whatever I decide is most likely going to be swapped and changed a couple of time until I get it right

I've found a little UPS that will run the Pi for a while and send the shutdown command - and apparently the device I posted regulates the power so I'm hoping between the two devices that should be covered nicely. What are your thoughts. Long term I'll want to replace the UPS with something that has rechargeable power obviously, but as long as I can get something in place to begin with I'll be happy.

Hi All, I've been wanting to do a RPi Carputer project for a while now, got a lot of it planned out barring how to power it all via the car. It generate enough output for each device, but my thoughts are would it hammer the battery? Also, does anyone know of a similar product that doesn't need to be plugged into a PC to work? This one does, and I'm thinking it might be problematic with aLinux based OS. Struggling to find similar products that aren't standard cig lighter USB jacks. TIA

Hi all, Sorry if this is in the wrong Forum! We're having an issue when staff try to launch some software (Comic Life) , in which we get the error: "favorites is not a valid short file name". It works fine for students however. I found this on the dell site, which made me wonder if it was anything to do with redirected folders policy, but they're configured the same for staff and students here. Seems Bizarre, that the kids can use the software and the staff can't. Anyone got any suggestions? Cheers

We use LAN Messenger at a couple of my schools - LAN Messenger - Home - It's a freebie, but works like a stripped down MSN, so if the teachers so wished they can send messages too... Works quite well, as the office / head etc can send messages to everyone / a particular class and the teachers can reply. Not really had anyone abusing it either.

Hi All, Does anyone have any recommendations for some podcasting software usable by children at a primary school. (Something similar to Podium for those of you that have used that). Needs to be able to record audio easily, with the ability to save it as a project file and export it to mp3. I was thinking Audacity personally, but it might be a bit feature-rich for the younger students. Cheers

Shameless bump (sorry)... Anyone had any experience with this? I'm clueless. Does same thing for admin, and a reinstall doesn't fix it. edit - Just notied it does save as an MP3 with no problems. Could it be to do with the codec for OGG files? Does anyone know what file format podium would use for a podium project?

Hi all, When trying to save a file in Podium, we're getting the error: "could not enumerate 'Ogg Mux Filter" Has anyone got any idea as to what may be the cause / fix? I've done the usual Googling but found little to help. I believe Podium is no more too? So there'll be no support. TIA

Have you looked at the Learnpads? Can't vouch for their pricing as I haven't seen any of the costs, but the devices will take a beating and they're locked down brilliantly.

Sorry, my mistake - misunderstood the issue. Have you tried another HDD or booting to a USB? Sounds like the HDD might have failed.

Do ATI do their own BIOS? I always assumed someone else did them and they were rebadged... Anyway, don't have a tool specifically for ATI BIOS, but on some occasions I've had the tools work for different models / versions... They're a few years old, but pulled me out of a few tight spots - CLICKY - hopefully they'll work for you.

Have you removed all other power sources along with teh CMOS and allowed it to sit for a while? This usually does the job... Failing that, how old is it, and what BIOS is it using? I have some BIOS password tools which may help... The error code in some BIOSs can be used to extract a working password.

I realise this thread is over a year old, but just had this issue myself and this was the first result on Google when looking for a fix and unfortunately the SSL thing didn't solve it for me, so thought I'd share what solved it for us... Turns out we needed to add the IP to the proxy exceptions list in IE.
