What's with the obsession with touchscreens and voice entry?
aerospacemango replied to localzuk's topic in General Chat
But voice recognition is so much more than just sitting at a computer.... What about in the car? Voice recognition works! Last year, my father was in hospital and I received a phone call to say that he was going for a very important operation that could determine his future. I was able to jump into my car, call up the navigation on my phone, and call out the hospital name. Within moments, I had a complete route there. It didn't help me get there any quicker but it saved me from spending time, when I was frantic, searching for an address or post code. -

I bet you're gonna tell me you have no idea what Google+ is next? Anyways...back to the OP.... In all honesty, if touchscreens and voice activation can make some things easier, then I'm all for it..... But I can't see a time when there will not be a keyboard.... -
What's with the obsession with touchscreens and voice entry?
aerospacemango replied to localzuk's topic in General Chat
Back in the day, everyone chatted about MySpace and Bebo, but as fashion dictates, the world has moved on and it's now all about twitter and facebook. Things will probably go full circle, and we'll be back to chatting about MyBo and SpaceBe before you know it! -
Would be perfect for me, as I've got one in every room in the house, except the littlest room. Now, I can complete my set for the bargain price of £15!!!

What's with the obsession with touchscreens and voice entry?
aerospacemango replied to localzuk's topic in General Chat
Personally, I LOVE my touchscreen phone. It allows me to surf on the move, and post pics to twitter and facebook when I'm out and about. Phonecalls are nice and clear and I enjoy the different apps that are on it. However, for "normal" computering stuff, I will always want a proper keyboard and mouse....Is that just my age? Anyway, I think each to their own, and there will always be the choice! Not every company is going to follow the fruit-based comapny's lead. Some will go their own way. -
Exactly! If you'd spent £1000 on those shares....they'd now be worth £8000....Tidy!

Deffo worth ROM'ing it, if you don't want to wait. Got it on the Galaxy S, and as @Bananas says, Impressive! -
Have done this as well.... Fantastic experience, and it lasts an hour! If you're lucky (as I was) the pilot will let you take off, fly as much as you like, or just sit there looking all around, and land! I flew from Southend airport down to the Thames, passed over Thurrock Shopping centre, then up the A12 to circle directly above where I lived at the time (Brentwood), then onto Colchester before returning to Southend. I had booked for a 2 seater Cessna, but when I arrived with lots of family in tow, they upgraded me to a 4 seater so I could take my brother and brother-in-law too! I would deffo recommend that too!

I've done both the Rally Driving Experience, and the Supercar Experience at Silverstone.... Although BOTH were fantastic, you only actually get a short amount of time in the cars. The rally driving is about 6 laps of a short course, in 2x3 lap stints. The supercar is a 3 lap stint on about half the track. I was lucky, as on my day, we were using the main start/finish straight......and there's nothing quite like barrelling down the home straight at 160mph, and braking into the first corner in a Ferrari 458! However, there's also nothing like coming out of the pits....and spinning it on the first corner at 90mph!!!! In my honest opinion...they are a LOT of money for what you get.....and I really can't decide if it's great value! (Both were presents from my ex!)

So, a pitch invasion, tearing grass up, and snapping a crossbar is NOT hooliganism??? Ohhhh...kay!!! Shall we talk about Manchester 2008 UEFA Cup final then? To be honest, we could bat these things back and forth all day, as there are plenty of documented cases on BOTH sides. However, Rangers to disappear by the end of the season? I stand by my original comment that they'll become AFC Rangers, but probably be immediately invited BACK into the SPL.
-
Hmmmm.....Wembley 1977....I think you have your own history of hooliganism! Let he who is without sin, etc etc etc. (Oh, and before we get into anything...My Dad was at wembley, that day, and was stood in the middle of the Scottish end..... Said that he spent all game being handed nips of whisky, and couldn't walk by the end! So I'll not tar them all with the same brush....unlike SOME, eh Rabbie?)

Honestly? I think that the Welsh teams should also go to THEIR League. But as the League of Wales was only formed in 1992 and is mostly part-time, and the football teams were all formed well before that, the welsh teams were invited into the English pyramid. That is a fact. At no point since the start of the Football League in England has there NOT been a league in Scotland. I don't remember the clamour of English teams to go north of the border in the 80's...all I remember is Rangers buying Chris Woods, Terry Butcher, Gary Steven etc etc etc. European football was the draw for the players...and possibly money too!
-
Sorry @RabbieBurns, but you are a seperate country, and will soon be voting to loosen your ties even further. Why should Celtic and Rangers be allowed in the Premier League? Please explain! It is ALL about the money! We didn't hear about these clubs wanting to come south in the 80's or 90's, but since the Prem has grown to be the biggest league in the world, and clubs get millions, every man and his dog wants a piece. Why shouldn't we ask Marseille or PSG to join the League then? We used to own large tracts of France....does that count too??? And please don't answer that they are "too big for their own League"....it's been that way for a century or more....and only now, when there's a ridiculous amount of money sloshing about do they want to come south!
-
Personally I cannot see a time when Rangers and Celtic should EVER be allowed in the English League system. Clubs in the Premier League would NEVER vote for it, as it would be like turkeys voting for christmas. 2 teams would HAVE to leave the gravy train.....just not gonna happen. As for all the leagues merging.... Completely unrealistic idea. The only reason that Wrexham, Swansea and Cardiff (I feel dirty just typing that team name!) are in the English Leagues is that they were historically part of the League. Ask them all to go to the League of Wales and see what answer you get! Let's not forget, Cardiff are the only club from outside England to win the FA Cup.
-
This is true.... Look at the two players who left with NO redundancy package....all for the good of the club.
-
If it meant that the club that I played for was able to survive, then Yes! It was not a pay cut, as such, but a deferral of wages. This means that when there is a takeover in the future the players get those backdated wages back. It's not as cut and dried as "pay cut" and it would be disingenuous of anyone to suggest that anything else is the case. The administrator has already said that he's not keen on the idea as it just loads debt onto the next owners before they've even signed.

1987.... QPR and Fulham merger is announced. New club to be called Fulham Park Rangers. I think you can all guess how well THAT went down! 2001.... QPR and Wimbledon are in talks for a merger. ----------------------------------------------------------------- This is the kind of thing that I've been used to!
-
IMO...... I'm prepared to get shot down over this one, but for me, it has to be... Let them go to the wall. Harsh, I know, but these are my reasons. For too many years now football has lived in it's own bubble. Player wages have spiralled, foreign players make (almost) the majority in the league and football has moved away from it's working class background. It is now £35 a ticket, at least, to go see QPR....and yet only 4 years ago, we were on the verge of bankruptcy. No one cried for us, and yet the fans were there at every game with the buckets out. This had been an ongoing situation for 5 years+. Had Tango&Cash not bought us, we would have gone. Rangers will be reformed as AFC Rangers and have to start from the bottom again....but probably with crowds of 30,000+ in the Highland Leagues. This may be a disaster for Scottish football as Celtic would have little in the way of competition, but it does NEED a big club to go under for the authorities to see the folly of the modern game. I see players earning huge wages for sitting on a bench for 90 mins. They will earn more in a year than I will earn in a lifetime..... Was that ever the case before? Let Rangers go.... Sorry to say that, but I will shed no tears for them.

Samsung Galaxy S owners

If you DO go for the install, I would recommend flashing the Semaphore 9.1 (from the same forum) kernel. This is done in the same way as the ICS install...in that you install via recovery from the sdcard -
Yeah...it was pretty unflattering...but all I can give is my impression of him. Seemed genuine enough when talking to me about the club, and what he wanted for the future. And all that took place about 2 years before the Tango and Cash came in.
