We find smoothwall record manager previously safe guard software is really good and the transfer between schools is quite good as well I think it depends on what your trying to get out of it and what your hoping to achieve

Cloudstrike, Azure, Google, etc. When cloud computing goes wrong...
kevin_lane replied to Koldov's topic in General Chat
I think you are right on what your saying, I think sometimes we may get into the rut of “just put it into the cloud” like we have moved the issue of some sort. Our ever growing relationship and reliance on technology is now more than ever more great, and we must not forget this, as today has shown the whole world (literally in some sense) has crashed. And now people are panicking, I think sometime we need to do a reality check about how everything is integrated, because now we are at the point we are seeing smart IoT becoming a thing inside peoples houses, and our reliance is so great on being….connected We need sometimes take step back and as my slt leader would say adjust the optics. I’m sure we will all get through this with a bit of cloth and spit and mucking in and getting it sorted but lessons need to be learned and we should proceed with caution. -

yea this is something i think is in all school staff just love to dump and duplicate, and i now i am at the point of refusing to increase the capacity, because they cant be bothered to go through the rubbish and remove the stuff they don't need, well i don't want my backups taking over 10 hours lol SharePoint is something I'm looking at now, I'm testing it with our Music Department and seeing how they get on, not heard anything bad just yet so will see, any other tips that people have i would be grateful to hear about

Lol I remember seeing this made me chuckle, Could you perhaps get them to fund all Network Managers / IT Techs to go on some sort of Cyber security certification, im thinking Security+ CISSP, EHC course or something that is combined and is certified by the NCSC and recognised achievement….and free?? “Just a thought”

Credential Guard / MSCHAPv2 - is it really enabled?
kevin_lane replied to arciere's topic in Windows 11
The only thing I can think of and it’s a long shot and not sure how you can verify it, weather you would have to capture the packets or look at the ad attributes in Ad And that is to look at what’s happening when the pc computer starts to talk to the domain controller https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/security/windows-authentication/credentials-processes-in-windows-authentication -
Just playing devils advocate Is there still a need for some software to map one drive to a network drive anymore I'm personally for me at work i don't think I've used my network drive for over a year now and in all the places I log into it will log me into one drive and all of my files are there i don't have a roaming profile and I don't let onedive auto sync down And also I save a bit of money Equally there are only a few members of staff that are using one drive as my test subjects and they don't have issues By all means we haven't fully gone over one drive for the home dirs just yet as its a big change and no one likes changes but staff need to embrace it Obvs I don't know your setup but if you don't have to spend anything then that could be spent on something else.

i was wondering if anyone has managed to setup conditional access based of the user's device or thought of doing something similar e.g. if a member of staff wanted to view their work emails or access a site say MIS which is linked via Office 365 for authentication, is that the condition to login is that they have to be using a work laptop, and any other attempt of logging in via a device not "known" to the school will be denied. Thanks

If I want support I just tend to go through my admin portal on office and usually within 12 hours I get a email or remote support - or are you wanting server / application support as I think you have buy through your reseller -
[sccm 2012] Let's hear your SCCM ideas...
kevin_lane replied to Planehazza's topic in O/S Deployment
For us We have 2 task sequences one for staff and one pupils. They both run the same windows ISO One task sequence will install a few other software deployments to the other task sequence the computer accounts get popped into an OU. once in the OU after installation, we then move it to its final OU. we then give the device to the staff member or placed back into general population (pupils devices) All our devices collections are based on OU but we do have a few custom collections based on name of devices -

Thanks for tip of the day never thought of this -
In our control centre, where the naughty kids go we have a 5 PCs I think, which are all damaged. I had the cleaning lady come up to me, and hand me a damage keyboard and mouse, the other week. It’s just sad because we do but put in a lot of hard work to put the resources in place. But I suppose on the flip side we don’t know what is going off in a kids head, and could be having a hard time at home. not that I’m saying it’s OK to damage the equipment. I wish they didn’t because it’s because it’s just has a massive impact on the rest of the school. I know it’s sad to say but unfortunately I think no matter which school you go in you will always end up with damage equipment intentionally or not intentionally, I’ve been at my school since 2007 and I don’t think I’ve ever had a year where no equipment has been damaged lol [emoji23]

@Brimstone Thanks for this wasn't something I actually considered so thank you, The next step is now to enable changing the settings for impero as it requires system modification
-
So I’m currently testing impero and musescore Im testing out using composer, which jamf have suggested, and built a package file Installed composer Instructed composer to monitor system, then installed musescore > created package > uploaded to jamf which worked Removed musescore I then tried pushing out musescore through jamf which didn’t work through jamf Again same process with impero nether work Unassigned profile and group from jamf So at this point I now have word , excel , PowerPoint, and now musescore in my automatically DEP assignment Reset back to factory settings , re-enrolled, assigned profile etc Bingo musescore was there (ms office apps worked first time round because just added them from the store) Also something I didn’t really click onto was that impero need Rosetta installing first which from within jamf there was some add on which needed to be enabled, so before I left tonight I’ve enabled these within jamf. So tomorrow will be looking at the add on and seeing if I need to do anything extra but definitely further than before lol

i'm trying to upload the Impero dmg and musescore dmg file into jamf but keep saying the asset could not be processed have tried to go through jamf support but all i got was to contact impero and musescore any else had issues like this ?
