Unfortunately I can’t read German lol but you mentioned about, only reason I ask is that you mentioned about security settings These can be controlled within group policy So have you changed anything before or after you did the upgrade within group policy. Or is a case up you did the in-place upgrade and then you started seeing the issues. Did you open the case with Microsoft?

@ThomL and @Rob_D thank you for the input and i have updated the survey i'm just trying to get a general consensus of which video platforms are used within the school really, also there is more of a backstory but cant really say on here
-
Would people mind filling in this survey in regards to use of YouTube in schools Answers are anonymous https://forms.office.com/e/78gTQtVjZB Thank you
-
Yes this is definitely a good place to start What is the general consensus within the network Can staff and pupils login? Can they access network shares and print ? Are we talking intermittent? I feel we are? On a machine where you are having trust relationships can you login locally clear the even logs rebooted and see what the errors say Have you changed any GPO settings if so what

we use macs yea its a bit of a pain but, we have AD intergration etc password resets are a bit of a faf but they get on access homedrive / office 365 / garage band etc just get one or 2 test them out and see how you get on find the quarks, plus its a good learning curve
-
Well if they supported proper auth then I don’t think it would be an issue. we use Access IT Library software and we use office 365 to send our emails through this to parents no issue ! So why they can’t do it I don’t understand…..oh wait yes I do it’s because they know schools won’t have a choice…. And having to lower security authentication to make something like this work is a joke!

we have decided to go with bromcom smtp service i think its just one of them things that we have to adapt as a school, plus maintaining a level a security is key, thanks for the input
-
Yea I’ve enabled the smtp auth on the mailbox but I read something about that if it’s disabled for the organisation then enabling it on the mailbox wont make a difference, will double check again tomorrow.
-
So we are moving to bromcom….. Looking at the email options Set your own smtp service or use theirs, which you have to pay for Tonight I’ve been trying to get this to work however not having much look I think partly this is due to the new security measures in place from MS Is there any other recommendations that people use for the emailing from the MIS

@smithson83 Thanks for the reply, I think you have some valid points. Technology cannot be the main focus, like you say “you cannot start with the technology. You can't say Chromebooks or iPads are better because they are easier to manage.” My reasoning around this is just because I wanted to know what other school are using devices for 1:1 and What devices seems to the favourite in schools. It doesn’t matter to much which device but obviously everything is a balancing act, A) cost of Device B) being able to have manage the device effectively, and securely. C) Damage control In regards the curriculum point, I think and again it’s something that does need thinking about, I think a lot of lessons are done with laptops or could be done , but understanding the actual benefits of every pupil having a device in lesson time is difficult, because I know i will have a subject push back. Some teachers don’t like the idea of technology, most probably because they don’t feel confident or don’t like change, or it just doesn’t apply to their subject. And that’s the crooks of it some love it as they feel it will bring lots of value. Teachers at one point moaned about going over to a computer system now they can’t function without it - literally Again with the information I’m gathering, and with maybe another survey with other probing questions i can then look inward and see if we have a real need. That’s all
-
i will at some point do another survey regarding this with a few different questions, if that's ok - but got some good answers
-
Brill thanks people yea may need to do another survey once I have everything from this one.
