What considerations do i need to take into account for DNS?

I am about to implement a password policy on our domain. We have never been really too strict about this before but we have had on or two situations where we need to do something about it now. The main reason for this is to get staff to change their password every half tem (ish) but not affect the pupils. I know that their can only be on password policy per domain so I need to check this before I implement it. I intend to 1. Set the minimum password length to 8 characters (any combination of numbers, letters etc) 2. Set it Enforce Password History to 20 3. Set maximum password age to 35 days 4. Set the minimum password age to 35 days (don’t want them to be able to change it before the password expires) Passwords must meet complexity requirements & store passwords using reversible encryption will not be used. Now, to double check, if I set all users on our domain (except staff) so that passwords do not expire will this over ride the domain password policy? I do not want a situation where this policy can affect the kids as this would be a nightmare and the kids would be up in our office requesting forgotten passwords all the while. If I am thinking correctly then, domain password policy will only force the setting s on staff users whose passwords are NOT set to never expire?

We currently have a DHCP scope of 1024 address’s but this range is now nearing its functionality as we soon be adding 200 clients on the network and our range will not cope. So, I need to either change the DHCP scope all together or super-scope. I am thinking of completely setting up a new range that is on private address’s. WE currently have our range supplied by the LEA and all schools are on a WAN. All secondary schools have 1024 ip allocated but most are no where near using them. The range currently in use is 172.18.244.* to 172.18.247.*. I am going to go over to 10.10.10.1 to 10.10.20.1. What is the best way to do this? Can it be done live or do I need all the clients off etc. Could someone give me advice on how I should plan this and best case options? I also intend to set a new ISA box up that will act as the Gateway to all clients.

YOu don't ned Ghost to use RIS. We have been using RIS for over 3 years now and all our images are done this way.

We are currently running Sophos (lastest edition) and WSUS 2.0 on the same server without any problems. This server is being replaced this year and we will be transferring these roles to the new server. What i need to know is this 1. Is anyone currently running WSUS 3.0 and Sophos on the same server? 2. WSUS 3.0 supports 64bit OS, does Sophos? 3. What you reckon for a minimum spec server to host just these two roles?

Anyone interested before i put it on Ebay.?

I must speak as i find and i have always found Dell server service to be very good. As for the laptops as well phone call one day engineer the next.....never had a bit of trouble. Famous last words..............i hope not.

I have a Brother 2030 laser printer which keeps printing a thick balck line arounf 1cm thick down the left hand side of the page. I have done thenormal cleaning techniques and still can't seem to stop this from happening. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

What is the best way that video files can be saved from the BBC website? or is it possible to? One of our teachers has found a couple of news video clips they would like to save and use as resources or lesson material. Is this possible to do this and more importantly is it legal to do this?

I have checked a OU with users in and the password atrribute @users cannot change password' is set. I have tried selecting all and choosing properties to and seeingif i can change th eoption on them all but it does not let me. It appears that you can only turn these attributes on on Mass and not off. Does any oen know how this is done or if a vbscript can be used to do this.

Yep we map the same as Plexer, but we do hide all the files inside it ;-)

Scavenging was set to 2 days and DHCP lease 3 I have set DHCP to 2 now. I set this before when i had the problem last time. Should i let the records update themselves now or delte then DNS and let them recreate?
