Correct! We get our licences through the LEA and we will be getting an XP SP3 cd in the next batch we buy but the reson I ask is that I need it now for a job,

Can someone give me some quick easy instructions how to create an XP SP3 install CD from a PC with SP3 and fully up to date, and I have an SP2 install CD.

Looked into this as well, but it really depends upon the type of roof construction you have. If its the older type with simple big roof frames with little cross braces then its not so bad, but if you have a modern roof like ours with thonidh strut and cross bracing then it does get expensive as you have to build back in the strength you remove. Not really a DIY job and our quote was towards the £22000 region as so much work has to be done. Building regarding are a major thing these days and could drastically affect the house price or saleability if not done right. Hence at that price we still have junk in our loft!

Should do, we use NTBackup and had a server HD fail, the backup was used to restore almost everything if I remember (didn't do it myself I'm afraid, wish I had had the time though). Think you need to make sure you save 'system state' though.

In a perfect world I would agree that a managed solution would be best but its not and they only just have enough money. If the system gets expanded then a managed system would be a must but at the moment it looks like two ap's.

Don't think they will be able to afford a managed solution, so looking for the next best option for them.

Netgear rangemax access points, as there will be do textbooks I thought two points would work better, what problems am I likely to have? I use the same single Netgear at another school with 25 networks and its mostly ok just a couple have problems logging on sometimes so thought would go with two this time.

Same problem here and I would just use a good digital camera that does video and use other software with the camera if they want to do animation.

Have used them and they are OK, You really need to make sure you get a temp probe though as that way they can test insulation, water etc otherwise its just temp around the area to the LogIt itself. You can get Heart beat attachemnts but I would not bother as they are just topo fiddly to get working reliably (they clip on finger or ear), better to use a proper heart rate monitor. Attachements can also be bought so that they can set them up as a burglar alarm i.e. sensing light sets off a light etc, we have those but never had the chance to use them yet. Usually used tham around this time of year and got the kids in groups going around the school to find me the coolest, darkest and quietest spot for me to hide and have a good lie down, and they have to record their recordings on a map of the school (I kid you not!). Don't know if that really helps, but they are functional, but you need to have focused sensors i,e, a probe for light or temp, tubes to focus the sound sensors as just imagine doing these activities with a class full, whose reading are you recording etc.

Should not have spent it yet as does it not get allocated untill August, its one of these ones that don't follow the financial year or at least thats what ours does anyway.

Going to be getting 30 netbboks to use in a classroom (trolley based) and due to there being so many to be connected at once I am going to share the connections between two access points on the trolley. Now just thinking about it (my greatest downfall!), do I have: two separate SSID's or the same SSID but set both to different channels? and am I likely to face any problems having the two on top of the trolley together?

Got time at the moment to try and eek out a little bit more breathing space on our servers c: drive, but what to clear? Have already moved the swap file but open to more suggestions. Can I delete the following? Have a folder on the root of c: called 'master' which has from what it looks the install cd inside i386 folder etc. A folder on windows called 'service packfiles', this server runs wsus so don't know if they are needed? I presume I can get rid of these settings\Administrator\local settings\temp A hidden folder '$hf_mig$' that has folders inside that are kb*** etc A series of folders that are highlighted in blue writing that I think are hotfix unininstall files i.e.'$NtUninstallKB925876$'

Has anyone tried to image a Fog image to a VirtualBox virtual PC? Got the VirtualBox PC to PXE boot from the Fog server and to inventory itself and add itself to Fog as a host but when I come to Quick Image it, it gets to the point of imageing and says "Invalid Host Information" and reboots. Is it because I have a differnt sized disk set up in VirtualBox somesomething more obvious?

Thanks, good in a way to know I'm not alone! 350Mb may be something I can live with at the moemnt, as I need to clear a little bit off the C: drive and when done with the u[pgrade I can apparently remove the old EM and Cids as they are now stored in a separate directory Sum. See, I did not wast my weekend away doing nothing, I spent it search in the Sophos forums! Wonderful!!! I'm not far down the road, look after 4 primaries in Balby.

Just looked at that document about upgrading, it only mentions EM 1.0x so if I read it correctlky thatas we have 1.3 I can just install over the top. However I have a couple of more questions if anyone has any suhggestions. How much extra disk space will the new version take as our drive that it is installed on has only 1.2Gb of free space (we only need to protect XP versions and the server 2003 itself) If we do not have enough disk space on the current drive can I install it to another disk on the same server but still migrate settings etc and allow the same clients to connect to it without any further intervention? Would I be better just uninstalling Sophos altogether due to space requirements and install brand new on the drive with more space (we do not have complex policies just if virus found delete etc). Would this require me to do anything with the client PC's or will they just be picked up by the new install and updated accordingly? Sorry if these seem to be silly or simple questions but looked searched the Sophos site for answers and can't seem to see the wood for the trees! Information overload!

Thanks for the info and any more info would be welcome. Should have known something like this would happen as the last time we did not get notified about a change and only happened on it by luck. That was not a major upgrade and I managed that. Just looking at the info it looks a bit of a nightmare to upgrade! Could well do without this as I just don't really have the time! Suppose as I've got 4 installations to do I'll be quicker by the last one! Do you know if it takes up much more room after the install as thats another of my problems or rather extreme lack of it (1.2Gb free!) and can I get rid of any of the old software afterwards to free up space again? I'm in loverly Donny myself.

Just checked our Sophos after reading this thread and found that three of my schools have not been updating (OOps!) due to them being on Enterprise Console 2.0.0.1447, but the school that does is on 3.1.0.2476 (becuase that server was rebuilt after a hd fail so I guess they installed the latest version at the time) so I presume I need to update it to the latest version Enterprise Console 4. Now can I just install over the top of the existing versions or do I have to uninstall Sophos from the server and the reinstall from scratch? Can't seem to see what I need to do from the info on the YHGfL site. Any help appreciated.
