  1. Its OK now? A reboot seemed to sort it out!
  2. Just noticed some icons on my home PC were not where I wanted them and thought I would rearrange them but...try as I may I can't seem to move them! Unticked, auto-arrange and arrange to grid, lock icons is not ticked, show desktop icons is ticked. I can hight light them, slect them with a box etc but not move them. When I try to it looks as if its going to move then just stays stuck in that position laughing at my feeble attempts to move it. The auto arrange did move them but now I just have them all at the left hand side and cant move any of them! Help!!!!!
  3. Probably need to reboot the AP for it to take effect.
  4. You should be able to do it without the software, just search the Linksys site and find out what the default address is set when its reset to factory defaults, then set a pc to the same ip range, connect it with a cable and just log on to the web admin page. Googling gives the default address as 192.168.1.254, reset it to factory defaults by holding in the "Reset" button on the back of unit for 45 seconds while it is powered on. how configure linksys wap200
  5. Thanks for that, have spoken to Mark and Aggy before and will contact them again. Is there anyone else we should consider as its not a small undertaking and I want a complete solution from supply, install and commissioning, and I want to see what options we have to play with.
  6. We currently have a trolley with its own AP and 30 Samsung NC10 netbooks but now the staff have got used to using them more and more they want them at each end of the school at the same time so its looking like they want to expand wifi coverage to the whole school. What options do I have and what would it cost and is anyone willing to come and give me a survey/quote?
  7. Catch 22 there I think as to upload the fw you need the option on the web interface, but the problem is be can't get to the web interface to upload it.
  8. Was there a WIKI on how to sysprep or did I dream it, anyway can't find it, so can anyone give me pointers as to the best way to sysprep a PC for imaging and give me an example of the sysprep inf file that has been modified. As sysprep makes the PC allow the image to be loaded on to different hardware, does anyone use the 'driver packs' so that correct drivers are loaded for multiple hardware configs etc, if so how do you do that and what would I need to modify in the inf file?
  9. Thanks, as its usually quite a while inbetween using FOG (like last week when I had to scavenge the depths of my brain to remember how to do it!) this is quite a usefull reminder, thanks.
  10. Are there any of them just usable for spare bits as I need a coloured lens screen (best I can describe that part!) from the inside for one of ours.
  11. Classic!
  12. Could you not just reset it and then connect it directly to a pc, then using the default settings reconfigure it to what you want? Trays what I did with a similar problem.
  13. OK, found out what it was, when I cleared the drive and for good measure used gparted to recreate the partition etc it put a 1Mb space at the begginning if the bootable partition, which is why it didnt boot!, moved the partition so it was at the beginning and hey presto it boots :-)
  14. Is there anyone out there who has an Epson S3 projector thats not working that would like to donate (i.e free except postage) part of it so I can fix the one I have as a spare? Only need the prism and lcd screens that are easily removed as single unit.
  15. No sorry, DVD drive fine, was using it prior to disk wipe and image and also booted from it afterwards, just can't get it to boot from the imaged drive.
  16. Hi, Just imaged an ex office PC to use on curriculum, image went on fine as normal, no errors etc but when I come to boot the PC it goes as far as getting the Dell splash screen then I just get a blank screen and a flashing cursor? Any ideas, just new it was going to play up!
  17. Is it easy to set up saving teachers (don't want kids sving to desktop) desktop to a folder in their own area? Anything to look out for permissions wise etc. Their My Documents is redirected already but I didn't set it up. Teachers have roaming profiles but pupils are mandatory with a redirected desktop.
  18. But I don't have a domain, unless one is set on the fog pc and I don't know it. It's basically a pc with fog on it connected to a router with the pc to be image etc also connected to the router/switch. Any suggestions what I should put instead of domain?
  19. Sorry, heat getting to me! I now have red circles with an asterix in at the side of all my host names. Seems to be working though as its uploading an image at the moment. Ubuntu also seems to havbe a problem as it now goes into a screen save and semi-crashes. Can't see whats happening as the screen goes blank and every so often it flashes and I can see a bit of text on the screen. Upload of image is still going on from what I can see on the client though! Red circles are my main issue though.
  20. Right! Now updated to 0.29 and I now have the same problem, any suggestions as I do not have a domain on my setup, no server (pxe is from the FOG PC) and no Windows server with DHCP, thats on the FOG PC as well. I need simplistic instructions as a little new to Ubuntu etc
  21. seems to have done the trick! :-)
  22. Looks like I may need to go to 0.29 of FOG, I'll try that and see if it helps.
  23. Made the mistake of letting Ubuntu upgrade itself to the latest version and now I've come to use FOG(v0.28) and try and PXE boot a netbook on to it (which I have done before) it just gives me: PXE-E02 ONLY ABSOLUTE FILENAMES ALLOWED PXE-E3C TFTP ERROR - ACCESS VIOLATION PXE-M0F EXITING INTEL PXE ROM Any ideas how to fix this? Could be the PXE or could be something unrelated, as I said was working fine before the upgrade, why oh why did I do it!
  24. Wait till he gets near the 40! Should I feel twitchy about being nearer the 50 than I would really like?
  25. 47 and act like I'm 10 at times and at others feel like I'm 60! Started out when programs were done on punched tape and a big card reader but never thought I'd end up doing it as a job or for that matter going to Uni at 40 and getting a teaching degree! Didn't like school, could not wait to get out and now for my penance work in a school doing ICT support and teaching. Must be something I should read in to that!
