Delegation all looks fine. Authenticated Users is in Sec Filtering by default on this server (not sure if it is 2016 default) so no worries there. Just created new policy, same thing again. Testing computer is 100% in the right OU. Just can't understand what the issue is.

Have even tried adding individual users to the Security Filtering part but it has not helped. Here is the results of the GPResult: GPReport.zip It isn't showing in applied policies. Can't make it out.

Hi there, I have a 2016 server, I am trying to redirect all users to a shared desktop with fixed icons (word, excel etc). I have set up the policy and verified that the path is accessible from the computers, which it is, but when I login with any user account, their own personal desktop is showing. I am using roaming profiles for users. Any ideas?

Hey, so glad you mentioned this. I can't seem to find the Cloud Content folder within my group policy. Is there any reason for this? I have a server 2012 setup. I have checked the policy at another school with server 16 and they do have a Cloud Content folder.

Hi there, I have been using PDQ Deploy 13 to deploy Microsoft Office 2016 to our admin computers. It has worked perfectly every time, but now all of a sudden, it is playing me up. I have checked the computer and nothing seems untoward. It is failing the install within 20 seconds stating that Access is Denied - Failed to connect to target share. Access to the path '\\target-computer.domain\admin$' is denied. I can't understand this as if I browse to the path from the server PDQ is running on, I can get to that share with no issues. If I visit the credentials part of the deployment package within PDQ, it gives you the facility to edit and test credentials, which all come back green and working. Does anyone have any ideas. Could understand if it didn't work from the go, but has worked well and successfully deployed to several stations in the past with no issues.

Yes, both folders are identical. Paths are exactly the same also.

Hi there, I have 35 Lenovo Thinkcentre Edge 91Z ICT Suite computers I am looking replace with something newer. Does anyone have any recommendations on similar all in one computers? I would be looking at a minimum of something with an i5 processor and 8gb of RAM.

Hi, yes identical for all users. Have even made new user accounts and on first logon it is wrong. Have cleared profile and tried again but doesn't seem to help. I genuinely thought at first, maybe it is processor architecture, and the Program Files folders are different, but they are identical machines.

Hi, I did manage to in the end. I updated my last post...take a look, I have added a screenshot. I have just checked and both working computer and not working computer have Windows 10 1709. I have also noticed that in addition to the Start Menu issue, if a user uses working computer and stores a shortcut or Microsoft Outlook shortcut on their desktop. When they then login to not working computer, in addition to not getting the Start Menu tiles, the shortcuts show as missing. If you, for example click on Microsoft Outlook, you get an error stating: Problem with Shortcut This action is only valid for products that are currently installed. This is strange as both computers have Office 2016 installed in identical directories so the shortcuts will work, but they don't. Also interesting is that if you create a working shortcut on the second non-working computer. If you then login as same user on the first, that shortcut will not work, so there is clearly an issue here with desktop shortcuts not working also.

Thanks, could browse all the way to: C:\Users"username"\AppData\Local\ but there was no TileDataLayer I found the directory and it all seems to be there, identical on each machine: Tell me about it. Why is this so hard to achieve?! I didn't realise the shortcuts needed to go into the user's profiles also. This sounds like another headache.

I am a little stumped. I have a start menu layout xml file. I have two identical Windows 10 computers (same make, model, spec, processors etc), linked to our Server 2016 server. If I log into one of the computers, the start menu layout displays perfectly. If I log into the other, I get this... I have attached my config XML for the start menu along with a copy of the GPResult for the problematic computer. The XML file is shared from a specific share called W10StartLayout which has the following permissions set: Other than the two computers being in different OUs, I can't see anything different about them. They both have the same versions of software installed etc. The GPO in question is at the root of the OU in Group Policy and from there there is an OU for each location, one computer in each so if one is picking the Start Menu policy up, the other should also as the GPO is in the root of the main OU. GPResult.zip Any help would be really appreciated as it looks so sloppy at the moment having it work on one and not on another.

Could anyone give me some recommendations on what is best to use these days as sadly, Windows Movie Maker is not featured on Windows 10 anymore. We have Photo Story 3 for Windows, but it is pretty old and limited if I am honest.

Somewhat of a selfish post, but I was wondering if anyone could suggest some suitable training courses I may be able to undertake. I have been with my school in a Network Manager/ ICT Coordinator role for 8 years now. When I first started, they put me on a Prince 2 Foundation course which was helpful in dealing with our large projects. Since then, they have booked me in for an ITIL course, but I was wondering if there were any other training or certifications you guys would recommend. I have been here for quite some time, and would like to make sure that when I leave, I could get a job easily somewhere else, maybe in the private sector. My work are willing to pay, so I would be grateful of any good suggestions. I have an expired CCNA, no Microsoft Qualifications, so that may be handy, but not sure of costs involved or timescales. The Prince 2 and ITIL have been more management based, which have been really useful and hopefulyl will be helpful for future jobs maybe outside of edu sector too.
