I do really wonder sometimes if people don't have better things to be moaning about, but unlike a lot of you (from what I have read in the past), I have a head and an SMT who are fully behind me and trust my decisions/opinions. I really don't want to take the equipment out unless really necessary as I think it will impinge on the education of the children. Let's see what happens next! It really does beggar belief sometimes! - - - Updated - - - haha and a helmet, and maybe a roll of bubble wrap!

Hi there, As a temporary measure, we have installed a Dell Interactive Screen on wheels into a classroom where a lamp had blown on a projector. This room will have a permanent replacement board on the wall by the end of the financial year. Unfortunately, this is not good enough for the member of staff who teaches in this room. She seems to think that the long legs on the mount for the screen are 'ridiculous'. I explained that they are not ridiculous in the slightest and protrude out quite deliberately so that the screen doesn't topple over and probably kill a child. The teacher claims that both her and a child have tripped over the legs and that it is a hazard. I have explained that I am more than happy to have the site manager wrap yellow and black hazard tape around the legs of the trolley holding the screen, so they are more visible but she is not happy with this. My head teacher, like me, is fed up with the ungrateful attitudes I seem to encounter (we ordered this screen just for this teacher on a temporary basis and it cost well in excess of £5). My head wants me to take the screen out and leave the teacher with no interactive display at all. Has anyone else encountered moany, health and safety minded teachers regarding interactive screens on wheels and if so, what did you do to overcome this. I can see where the teacher is coming from, but the legs are long to stop an even bigger health and safety issue. There is just no pleasing some people!

Blimey, the Belkin one was so expensive, yet it took display port in and then does HDMI out! Where is the logic there?! I think I may need to go for something non-display port based as you suggest as those sorts of prices are just mad! Thanks for your suggestions. Really helpful.

Thanks, that is very good. Don't think I can, as I have a mac mini coming off of the right hand one. It is complicated! Use the Mac Mini only for photo editing, so it is not used as much, but need it and it doesn't have its own monitor like most Apple stuff!

Hi there, I am struggling to find one so wonder if they exist yet? I have a dual monitor display. It takes two outputs from an HP desktop and they go into two Dell monitors. I would like to also link my Microsoft Surface to these screens via the docking station. The docking station will provide one display port output. My question is, is there a KVM product that would take up to two display port outputs x 2 (so you could have two dual screen devices) but can also take two USB inputs and split them also? Otherwise, I am going to need two sets of keyboards and mouse which is silly. Hopefully you can understand what I mean!

Thanks Dave. Very helpful. Did your first suggestion and after the chime, I got the folder with question mark which I believe is what I got almost a year ago when doing my first 21inch model. I then reset the SMC and then booted with cmd + option + r, but after quite a while of a white screen, the flashing question mark folder is back again.

When I turn it on, after a while of showing a blank white screen, comes up with a dos style screen saying "No bootable device - - Insert boot disk and press any key I have tried pressing command, option, r at start up, also command, r as well as just option, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Any ideas?

Hi there, Looking for some advice.. I started a thread around Nov/December 17 on this forum re swapping out the HHD for an SSD on some of my 2010/11 iMacs. Some of the guys on here were so helpful in explaining what needed to be done and I converted several with no issues after some initial formatting related problems. Today, I decided to change the HDD out for an SSD on a same aged iMac but this time a 27inch rather than 21inch and found something different. These are the components I am replacing the HDD with: The separate temperature sensor has adhesive so you can stick it onto the ssd. But, when I took out the HDD, I came across this additional lead... Do I leave it unplugged? Is there something else I should be doing with it? Unfortunately, on the conversion kit I have, there is nowhere to plug this additional cable into. Any help would be great.

I downloaded the cumulative update for 1803 manually, and this seems to have done the job, but how can I add this to WSUS manually, so all of my 1803 clients pick it up?

Hi there, Does anyone know what causes this error on first login on a Windows 10 computer? I have never seen it before. If you click on Sign Out, it obviously puts you back on the login screen. Any ideas? We are running a Server 2012 domain.

Can't quite get my head around this. I am finding that quite a few of our Windows 10 systems are displaying the following Windows Update icon in the task bar: If I visit, Windows Update, I see the following... If I 'Check for Updates', nothing is found. The systems all run from our WSUS server. I have checked the WSUS server and 'Needed' updates are clear at the moment, but I see that once again, our 1tb drive for WSUS downloads has just 5.75mb of space left, despite weekly 'Server Clean Up Wizard' jobs through WSUS. Does anyone have any ideas on this? The systems in question are running Windows 10 Education 1803 so seem pretty up to date.

Ok, I have tried searching installed updates to see if it has already gone through but it is not coming back with any results and the list of failed is huge due to this stupid one not going through. I have been onto our WSUS server, found the update in question and removed it so it is now hidden from view. There is another pending which is Microsoft .Net Framework 4.7.2 for Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64 (KB4054566). This one is also failing with error code 80092004. It just seems it is failure after failure on this server.

Ok thank you. I have found it. I enabled it, but it asks which UNC paths I would like to add. I am presented with a Show Contents box which allows me to enter in something in the Value Name field and Value field. What should I be entering in here? As an example, Clicker 6 is an MSI and is not installing but was before Windows 10. Would I just enter in Value Name: Clicker 6 Path and then the path to the msi in the Value: field?

Ah ok. Thanks for clarifying. How best could I add these to a group policy? Or if not, how would I deploy these settings via Power Shell?

Thanks for your post. I will add these settings in and see what happens. Would it be best to do these in the default domain policy or make my own one? Also, when you say the Group Policy event log, where would I find this? If I go on our Windows 10 client systems, the event log tabs available are only: Application, Security, System, Setup Forwarded events. No Group Policy is listed.

Hi there, Where do I start, getting so fed up with things in general. Nothing seems to be working, everything you try causes problems, what has gone wrong with our server software? Things used to be so much easier with Windows XP. I posted earlier on that I was having issues with certain MSIs not going through to our Windows 10 stations. Someone helpfully pointed out that it could be an asynchronous policy processing error. I followed the url they provided and created a new policy: https://serverfault.com/questions/44257/group-policy-installation-failed-error-1274 I am now finding that certain MSI deployments such as Clicker 6 have not gone through to the clients. If I run gpresult, the policies are not being processed, missed, nothing, not even being listed. As though they were never there. Another example, I have a policy in the correct OU called Disable Quick Access Windows 10. It will disable the Windows 10 Quick Access default on explorer, instead taking you straight to Computer. It is sitting there correct, I have it on various other site servers and it works perfectly, here, not working on a single computer. Every time I gpupdate /force a computer, if I log it in once I have rebooted it and run gpupdate /force again, it tells me The group policy client side extension software installation was unable to apply one or more settings because the changes must be processed before system startup or user logon etc etc, it tells me Ok to restart yes or no. I have just done this?! I just keep going round and round in circles.

I have put on, error seems to have gone for now, but I notice that under User Config>Administrative Templates> I am only seeing Microsoft Excel 2013, Word 2013 etc. How do I get the Office 2016 folders here?

Hi there, Getting so fed up with the constant Group Policy errors I keep getting. We have a server 2012 with Windows 10 clients. We updated the admx templates in our central store and now get constant policy errors. If anyone can help me with the following, I would be grateful. When I open the settings on some of our existing policies, I see the following: An error has occurred while collecting data for Administrative Templates. The following errors were encountered: Resource '$(string.Win7Only)' referenced in attribute displayName could not be found. File \\servername.domain.internal\SysVol\domain.local\Policies\PoliciyDefinitions\SearchOCR.admx, line 12, column 69. Can anyone help. Can't believe this is STILL an issue and Microsoft are not addressing it.
