  1. Thank you, just looking into that as we use MDT, but I tend to run a blank image onto the systems with just Microsoft Office installed. Will see if I can build something and capture it as you suggest. Will let you know how I get on.
  2. Hi, I have a suite of around 40 Dell OptiPlex 3060 systems. Almost all of them need driver updates. Does anyone know if there is an easier way of getting the driver updates than manually installing the Dell Driver Update software? This software is pretty good in finding and installing the driver updates, but it only seems to come as an EXE file. Which means I have to manually install it to each computer before checking for an installing updates. Thanks in advance.
  3. Does anyone have any ideas? Looking to try and update a few stations whilst the holidays are here!
  4. Last updates went on about 1 week ago. Seem to be .Net ones. Can't see anything on start up that looks suspicious. It has Acronis backup and that is it. I have disabled it, makes no difference. I have disabled everything in start up, it is still doing it, so makes no difference at all. Profiles are local, these are not domain connected computers. Never known such aggravation. Contacted Microsoft on Thursday, still nothing from them. It would seem that even they don't know what is wrong with their software.
  5. Hmm, as far as I know, drivers have not been updated, I doubt it would be that as OneDrive, Dropbox, Outlook etc are all working perfectly when normal Windows is running, it is just browsers. I wonder what service it could be. It is driving me bl00dy mad!
  6. Yup, all elevated. Fresh machines run with no issues at all. The only way I have found I can make it work is to rebook to Safe Mode with Networking. It works like it should then. Not really sure what that means though to be honest. What could be different to normal operation compared to Safe Mode?
  7. Thank you, tried it, it didn't make a difference. I couldn't locate the text file after. It didn't seem to save. To be honest, it hasn't made any difference which version we have used. I have some on 1903 and others on 1809 and they have all done this. I used gpedit.msc and updated the settings as per the end of your post. Now, when I open the browser, it doesn't load anything. It used to load a page or two before stopping, now nothing. But just to reiterate, everything else works fine, I can ping, I can send and receive emails via my Microsoft Outlook Program, Dropbox and OneDrive and working absolutely fine. Just browsers not working. If I open Edge, it gives me the latest news, but when I click on an article, nothing. IE can't even load a page. This seems to be just browser related. Firewall is totally disabled.
  8. Hi there, I currently have just one WDS install for Windows 10 but it is for 1809. Can anyone tell me how I can quickly and easily update this to 1903? It has been a while since I did it and I have forgotten the procedure. I have the 1903 download from Microsoft eOpen. I can see in WDS there is a boot image within the boot images folder which will need updating. Would the Install Image also need any updating? Within Install Images, I have a Windows10 group which has Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Education.
  9. Yup, ping works perfectly to any host, internal or on internet. No, it all shows as normal as though there is no issue. It is just the browsers which play up.
  10. Yes, no proxies. Just checked, one is a fully up to date 10 Pro and by up to date, I mean literally latest SP, everything. And same for the other but Windows 10 Edu. In the past, uninstalling and re-installing Chrome has done the job, but this is becoming a real pain. There must be some sort of reason for it.
  11. AV is Sophos, internet will be irrelevant as this also happens at home for people who work from home. Tray icon also showing connection.
  12. Hi, this issue keeps re-occuring on a few of our machines. They are fully up to date Windows 10 stations. Ping command to google or similar returns perfectly, no issues. If you run Chrome, or IE, no internet. Have reset DNS, done DNS flush and netsh int ip reset. Nothing works. If I run a Chrome Portable, it works perfectly. However, after a while, Chrome crashes and computer seems to run really slowly, however pings continue to reply. Can't be firewall related or it would happen all the time, and firewall is just Defender anyway. Does anyone know what could be causing this? We use Cisco AnyConnect for remote connections and this is the only piece of software I can see that seems to be on the stations that have the issue. Rebooting the computer will make the internet work for a few minutes and then it stops again. Thanks in advance.
  13. Hi there, This issue has been driving me mad. I have server 2016 with Microsoft Office 2016 deployed via PDQ to all of our client stations. As far as I am aware, it has worked fine for a long while, but users have started reporting that when they make a new Excel document, if they go to File>Save As>Browse, the browse button does not work. I have found this to be true by replicating the issue on numerous client computers. They have been working around it by sharing via email and then saving when they email to their selves - clever, but sloppy and not the way I want things. I have logged into a client station, totally removed office and reinstalled manually. I have checked the save paths, they all look fine and they all open in an explorer... You can't even save to the existing folders documents have been opened in. If you click on any of the areas with red circles, absolutely nothing happens: If you close excel with the new document unsaved, the "Want to save your changes to 'Book1'?" popup shows. If you click Save, again, absolutely nothing happens, the popup just re-pops up again! When I log in as an administrator, it works perfectly. What could be the issue? We are running a pretty basic setup, with a few Group Policy Objects and that is it.
  14. Thanks guys, using it's static IP to RDC seems to work, however I am now getting.... I click ok and log in as a local admin. Date and time are fine. I have added VNC, just about to reboot and will see what happens next. I cannot run PsExec as Sophos has blocked it and I don't seem able to unblock it so had to open a ticket. Everything is so over-complicated at times.
  15. Hi there, Does anyone have any ideas. I am remotely working for a school which apparently has a server which happens to be headless and in a small cupboard with a date or time mismatch. This is the error that is showing when I RDC: Can anyone think of any ways I could sort this out remotely. Obviously, if I were there, I would go to it with a screen, kb and mouse, but can't at the moment.
  16. Thanks everyone. Very helpful. It seems it has changed since I last used it and did the update. I used to connect to it via the web browser and then download the Windows software that allowed me to view the console windows of the VMs. But this doesn't seem downloadable now. Does anyone know where I can get it?
  17. Thank you very much. That did the job!
  18. Hi there, My own computer failed the other day. All of my data was backed up which was great. I have re-built it and I am in the process of installing software. Software like the VMWare ESXi for Windows. I used to log into my VMWare host and just download it. When I log in, I am presented with this: When I click details, I get this: If I close and reload, it just takes me to the login screen again. As this is the free version, I won't get any support. Does anyone know how I can overcome this. I am using Chrome but have also tried IE. Thanks in advance.
  19. Hi there, I have installed Snowflake software onto our class computers for use with the Clever Touch interactive screens each room has. However our Windows 10 computers are asking for admin username and password whenever someone tries opening the software. It doesn't do it when I am logged in as an administrator. Does anyone have any ideas on why it would be doing this and what I can do to prevent it? Thanks in advance.
  20. For that time period, no, not really. I am seeing failed MsiInstaller errors but not for the software in question: Product Adobe Flash Player 28 NPAPI -- Error: The version of the layer that you are trying to install is lower than what is currently installed. Product Adobe Flash Player 28 NPAPI -- Removal Failed Windows Installer removed the product. Product Name: Adobe Flash Player 28 NPAPI. Product version 28.0.0.126. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Adobe Systems Incorporated. Removal success of error status:1603.
  21. Share permissions all seem good, Running the command you mention above works a treat and installs the Lynx software within seconds.
  22. I have un-enforced all of the policies in the main group policy tree and re-run a gpresult off of my local machine. I am getting this which is interesting... Still not making sense of what the actual issue is. On the same station, I can manually browse to the installer file and install it with absolutely no issues. So the source file for this policy is absolutely fine and for the right processor architecture.
  23. Morning. There certainly seems to be something up with Group Policy. I am getting the following error when using Group Policy Modeling.. "An error occurred while generating the report. The given key was not present in the dictionary". When I use Group Policy Results from Group Policy, if I look at the computer in question (which is in its own testing OU) with inheritance blocked, it seems to be processing a large amount of policies, but it would seem this is because I have some enforced at the top of the Group Policy tree. This is the only policy I have linked to the OU: This is the result of Group Policy Results:
  24. Managed to get back on to it, so update must have been taking a long while. I have put it in a new OU, blocked inheritance and just added the GPO with the software installer and reg changes. Same thing again, it is not installing on. There are no other policies linked to this OU now. When I do GPUpdate /Force, I am still getting the usual message about being unable to apply some policies... C:\Users\administrator>gpupdate /force Updating policy... Computer Policy update has completed successfully. The following warnings were encountered during computer policy processing: The Group Policy Client Side Extension Software Installation was unable to apply one or more settings because the changes must be processed before system startup or user logon. The system will wait for Group Policy processing to finish completely before the next startup or logon for this user, and this may result in slow startup and boot performance. User Policy update has completed successfully. For more detailed information, review the event log or run GPRESULT /H GPReport.html from the command line to access information about Group Policy results. Certain Computer policies are enabled that can only run during startup. OK to restart? (Y/N)
  25. Good idea, I am on the case. Will let you know the outcome.
