For the 10tb we currently just mirror. The server we have is used for the staff shared areas, onsite backups etc. Thanks for looking into this for me.

That might work. How much roughly do you think it would be in total to get it up to 10tb?

I had suggested it to HP, but as it is raided and configured by them, they said it would just not be possible.

Hi there, We are currently running an HP X1600 G2 storage server with 10TB worth of storage. Just over 5tb of this is usable after mirroring. The server has just 136gb of C:\ disk space for the OS which is Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Standard. It has been totally full for years, and even after HPs best efforts, it has filled again. The server is now out of warranty and HP are unwilling to provide anymore coverage, so I am looking to replace it. Can anyone recommend what I could go for next and approximate costs so I can budget for it in the year ahead? I had looked into getting the local C drive replaced with an upgraded larger one, but sadly, it is not possible as HP control the OS on this appliance and it is not possible to get copies of Storage Server 2008. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, I will look into that, will just try Process Monitor first. Have never used that before. I have downloaded, and captured just when I opened Excel, made a blank sheet, put a test sentence in and then went to File, Save As and clicked on This PC, recently remembered folders within there, which it did nothing with. Then clicked on Browse, which again, it did nothing with. I have saved the capture file, but not too sure what else to do with it. I have filtered to Excel, but there are pages of logs. The log file is too large to add here, but I have put it online here if you have the time/skill to read it? Can anyone make any sense of it?

Hi there, Not sure what is going on here, but all of my admin users are complaining that they are totally unable to save any new Excel 2016 documents and they are not wrong. We are running 2016 server with Office 2016. I have checked the save paths and they all look fine to me: If a user goes to browse to save as, or save, The screen just stays like this and progresses nowhere: If you try and close Excel, you get the pop up box asking if you would like to save. If you click on save, nothing happens and the pop up box still stays. Other than windows updates, nothing has been changed here in months, no group policy changes or installs of Office. Can anyone tell me what is going on here?

Thanks both, just waiting for electrician to get back to me. Not sure why these 16a ones were put in in that case as had explained we would be going for two of these PDUs though we didn't have the exact model available at the time, but assuming most of them would have been 32a.

Ok, do you think it would be easy enough to get these upgraded to 32a or would I be better off getting a different APC PDU?

Hi guys, Good news.. the Two APC AP7822B units have arrived, but I have a problem... The plugs don't match. I have three of these on the wall put in by the electrician: But the plugs on the APC units are much bigger. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do here? The one on the left (which I think is a 2P+E) is the one the electrician put in and the one on the right is the one on the APC units. I have tried to rewire but the APC wires are so fat, they won't go in the smaller plugs. Do I need something like one of these?

Hi there, Over the past year, I have accumulated no-less than four broken iPad Pro screens from 'accidents'. I contacted Apple who wanted about £15 less the original value of the iPad to 'repair' it. This is clearly not feasible. Have seen a few online places, but not sure which are reputable. Does anyone have any recommendations? Am tempted to look at doing it myself, but not sure I could properly re-seal it. The model in question is: MLQ32B/A iPad Pro 9.7" First came out mid-2016. Model A1674

It looks like it may be discontinued so the latest model is: AP7822B I would quite like to get some lockable IEC powercords, but it would seem that APC only do them up to 1.8m with the product SKU: AP8706S. I am not sure these will stretch as we have some cable management in the rack and tend to get quite long IEC leads. Also, the racks are slightly taller than standard ones. Does anyone know or or recommend longer lockable IEC leads?

Hi there, I recently made a thread about our failing power provisions for our server racks. I got some really good advice from other users on here and went ahead and got three commando sockets installed on a separate fused power feed. I now need to go about replacing the old PDUs in the racks with ones which will connect to our new commando sockets, of which I have got three installed. Can anyone give me recommendations on which I should be going for? Are the metered ones that companies like APC do any good? I have had a count and I have 24 plugs in use currently. Of those, we have 5 servers with dual power supplies, one router, one firewall, two wireless controllers, CCTV DVR, VoIP Controller and the rest are switches. We also have three APC UPS devices. Hello everyone. It has been a while since my original post, but these things take time to pass through. I now have three commando sockets installed and on the wall going to a dedicated fuse box which runs directly from the main power system coming into the school. My next job is to order some PDUs for both of the racks. We currently have two 12 plug PDUs, they are just standard ones with standard plugs on them. I don't seem to have a front view of them but they have been cable tied into the rack! I have three APC rack mounted UPS battery backup units. I don't have rear images of all three of them, but I am assuming they will all look like this which is the number one UPS: Was hoping they would have had the IEC320 C20 plug holes, but it seems not. Was thinking of going for APC PDUs. Not too sure on what model would be best, but there seem to be ones which are metered? Does anyone have any recommendations. In terms of the rack capacity, not physically there today, but off of the top of my head: 7 x managed switches 2 x managed wireless controllers 3 x HP servers with dual PSUs all connected up 1 x CCTV DVR 1 x Mac Server 1 x APC Temperature Control Sensor 3 x APC UPSs 1 x LCD monitor 1 x Cisco Router 1 x Cisco firewall 1 x Cisco VoIP Think that is about it.

Hi there, I have a digital screen in our foyer, we are using a signage solution from Atomwide. It works well, but it was quite expensive. In our staff room, I have a Samsung TV and I would quite like to use it to display staff info - different info to the one above. I have a teacher who is happy to update it and put on new info, but I am not sure what the best solution would be for this. I have an intel compute stick, but I have found that often, it drops the wifi, even though the AP is literally 50cms on the wall away. Sadly, the compute stick does not have an ethernet slot. Can anyone recommend to me a good solution? I need it to be easy to use so even a teacher with very little understanding can get onto it. My idea with the compute stick was just to run VNC and install the viewer on the teacher's computer so she could remotely connect to the screen. I have also seen a Google Chrombox in use. Are they any good?

Hi there, We have a 2018 server running DHCP to our clients. The lease time is currently set at one hour. The head has asked me to run some internet activity reports on a particular computer as she believes a staff member has been using the computer for hours and not doing any work related internet activity on it. Our ISP is LGfL who have a very helpful Internet Activity reporting system, however for this site, my only option is to insert in the computer IP. Is there any way, I can easily ascertain what IP was given to a particular host at a particular time? Thanks in advance.

So even in this example, whereby I am using a GPO to both install a Google Chrome msi and set it as a default, I would need to split these and have: A computer policy for the actual install of the MSI A seperate user policy for the setting of Chrome as a default browser Would be grateful if you could just confirm that?

Thank you. That now works perfectly. For the future...If you make any config changes under User Configuration on Group Policy, do you have to link it to the OU that the users reside in? As I have other GPOs with User Configuration items in, they are not linked to user groups, but they still apply and work ok.

Hi there, I have followed the online guides for disabling run and command prompt on windows 10 computers by using Group Policy on our Windows Server 2016. These are my settings in Group Policy: I have gpupdated my testing station, added specific users to the policy in security filtering under scope and nothing is making a difference. Users are still able to open the run window and run command prompt. Where am I going wrong?

So currently, this is what I have: Documents is set to this: And the downloads folder is set to this: Documents redirection seems to be working well, but Downloads is currently not working and is showing as a local folder on any user account (e.g. C:\User\Download). Should it not be applying what is set in there by default or am I missing something?

I have done and I get "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem". If I look at advanced issues, 'Issues not present' are shown for every issue listed. The system has plenty of free C:\ space. Yes that is the one. It is just an absolute nightmare. Doesn't look like any of the systems have installed it. For standalone users, Windows 10 is great, but I am finding to manage on a network, it is the worst yet. Nothing works correctly, I am getting problem after problem with it. Really disappointing.
