I see what you mean. If I browse to Computer>Documents and view the location properties for a file, I am seeing: \\server\homefolders$\user.381\My Documents The group policy redirection is: Interestingly, 'Downloads' folder is loading as local for any user, despite it clearly being set to be picked up from the server.

Here is an example path for a user home path: \\server\HomeFolders$\joebloggs.305 joebloggs.305 is the useraccount name.

Hi there, not sure where I am going wrong with this... I have Document Redirection enabled and configured on GP for all users on the network. My Documents should be forwarding to the user's home folder, which in this case is N:\ It seems to be working well, and if a user visits Computer and clicks on 'Documents', it takes them there: However, if the user navigates to their Home Drive directly from Computer by clicking on their username, they see this: It means they have to make two clicks to get to it. I am not running roaming profiles on the good advice of some of the users on this forum on another thread. Is there any way to make this look and work a little tidier?

Hi, no not as far as I was aware. It doesn't show up as an option on Server Manager if I were to add a role or feature: Also, if I go to Server Manager and take a look at the Shares in File and Storage Services, it says under quota that I mist install FSRM. I am mystified as to what is going wrong here. Never had this happen before. Could it be something to do with offline files?

Just a quick follow up guys. The electrical company have been in and quoted. This quote does not include any PDUs or cables, but I can source those myself. It seems a fair price and seems to cover what we need it to. What do you think?

Hi there, Has anyone ever come across this error before on a Windows 10 client? It is happening on multiple computers, and often when in Office and you go to File, Save as, and click on Documents. We are running My Documents forwarding. These are the configurations we have in place... Is anyone able to help?

I have made some bullet pointed notes from everything you have posted here. To be honest, it really shouldn't be an issue for me, I am going to need to get some metered PDUs ideally, and will need to get some C19-C20 leads, as I have none. This could be done gradually, which would give far less impact on the network as I would still have the conventional 3 pin plugs. I currently have three APC UPS devices. 1 x APC UPC SMT1500RMIZU 2 x APC Smart UPS x1500VA To be honest, I am shocked that the current power solution has never been picked up on before. Hi there, And so the saga of things on Windows 10 not working continues.... I have a large number of Windows 10 computers which continue to display an icon in the taskbar which when hovered over says: 'Your device is missing important updates. Select this icon for more info'. If you select the icon, it takes you here: If I check for updates, none are found. I have ensured WSUS has fully downloaded all unapproved updates, which is has done. Last week, I even completely removed WSUS as a server role, cleared all folders relating to it (as the folders had filled both hard drives on the server), reinstalled the role and re-configured, and still this is happening. The computer in question is Windows 10 1803 and the Group Policy on our Server 2012 is set to do the following for any device on the network... In addition to Windows 10 on Wsus, the following are also all ticked for WSUS download: Really running out of ideas and patience. Running Windows 10 as a vanilla OS is becoming more and more problematic and frustrating. Nothing seems to work like it would on Windows 7. Getting so fed up with it.

I will see if I can find the time in-between everything else to try and add up the wattage and see what we are looking at. There are four servers and respective UPSs, CCTV DVRs, Router and firewall and then around 12 switches, 2 wireless controllers. The room was originally a small library room, so it was never kitted out with appropriate power provisions. We have AC, loads of data points, cabling ducts for the racks, fibre termination point, everything other than proper power!

Hi there, The school I have worked at for a long while now, has gradually moved from wall mounted cabs, to proper racks. We have two large floor standing racks and two full 12 plug PDUs inside. So that is 24 plugs in use. Unfortunately, the electrical wiring in the room has never been upgraded and all of this is split across two conventional plug sockets. I personally feel this is quite dangerous, and really, the racks should have their own fused and independent power source. To give you some examples, I have had several outages whereby someone in a classroom trips the power for whatever reason and it shuts off everything in the rack. By the time the site manager has been found and he has tracked down the tripped fuse, all batteries in the rack have ran dry and everything is off. Occasionally, the plug points the racks are connected to, will trip as they are clearly over loaded. What power provisions do you guys have? I would really appreciate any pictures as I can show these to the electrician who comes in. I am thinking of an independent and fused direct cable which terminates with one or two of these IEC309 plugs: Along with a red power shut off button so both racks can be quickly and easily shut off in the case of a fire or smoking from within the racks. The IEC309 leads could then connect to two new internal PDUs which will have the 12 x 2 standard 3 pin power sockets.

Hi there, I have a school running server 2012 vanilla with Windows 10 clients. I am finding that if users plug in a pair of headphones or unplug and re-plug in their speakers, the computer is showing a UAC screen but with a username and password box. It is expecting an administrator username and password. Can anyone best advise me on how to overcome this. The school want me to give them the administrator password, which I am not prepared to do for obvious reasons.

I am selecting Product Selection containing Windows Server 2012, but still getting there errors. Thanks for your suggestion, when I try and download, it takes me here but when I run the download, it says Windows Update Standalone Installer The update is not applicable to your computer. I have tried forcing GPUPDATE but nothing is changing. Any other ideas?

Hi there, I have a 2012 server, connected to another WSUS server. I note it has failed to install a couple of updates for a really long time now and I am concerned that these failed updates may be blocking the way for other updates. If you look at the dates, it has been two months of nothing but fails and not a single installed update. I am sure there must have been other MS released updates in this time period other than the two in this screenshot. Can anyone give me some advice on what I can do to overcome this? Many thanks.

Hi there, Any ideas on what could be causing this... Have a very high specced, Dell desktop computer with 16gb RAM, i7 Processor, 256gb SSD and 2TB hdd. Running Windows 10, runs smoothly, but sporadically and regularly shows the blue screen of death with varying errors for why it is doing so. I have ran countless Dell hardware tests and nothing is detected. Device manager is all good, no issues. All drivers and chipset drivers are up to date. Windows is fully up to date. Have performed CHKDSK Have also performed full (7 hr) Dell bootup hardware test, and the issue is still happening. Computer is new and has a 1year warranty, just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what this could be. Interestingly, as an example, say it blue screens at 11:10 am. I would be using computer up until this time, and I am finding that the event logs stop at 11.00am and the next entry is 11.11 to say the computer booted up. There seems to be nothing getting recorded in the logs. Really odd. This is a factory new system, it came specced from Dell and has not been opened and had hardware tampered with. Can't get my head around what else it could be. Any ideas?

Thank you for this and thanks everyone else. I took a detailed look and it seems I already had that line in my xml: But what I found was that in another GPO, I had another default file associations XML being linked. It was for Google Chrome so only listed HTML files. I merged this into my main one and it all seems to be behaving its self now. It seems that the two separate GPOs both with differing default file associations must have been causing an issue. Thanks for the help everyone.

Just a quick update.... I produced a risk assessment along the lines of what @Homer had helpfully suggested. The head teacher passed this onto the teacher in question and said she has until Wednesday to accept it or the board will be removed. She has given in and said that hazard tape should be 'fine'! I bl00dy suggested that weeks ago! Anyway, it looks like the situation has been resolved. Next time she needs anything doing in her room, I think I may postpone it on grounds of health and safety...chairs and tables in the way, the journey from my office to her room may have hazards along the way. Some people have just got so much time on their hands and are SO ungrateful! Thanks everyone for your input, humour and comments!
