The XP installation discs are not like the Windows 7 discs where the install type is determined by the key you use. The only thing that makes all the discs different though is one file on the disc. Use some kind of usb installation and change the file when required.

I am looking to do some major work on our infrastructure over the holidays. The network has grown to a size where it is starting to get a little to "chatty" to be one flat network so I want to split it up for this reason and for other security reasons as well. A HP 5406zl will do our routing so I am looking for the examples of an ACL for the following scenario. Most other switches are 2650s. Vlan1 - Default -192.168.1.254 Vlan2 - Building 1 -192.168.2.254 Vlan3 - Building 2 -192.168.3.254 Vlan4 - Servers -192.168.4.254 Vlan5 - Management -192.168.5.254 I want Building 1 and 2 to be able to route to the servers and vice versa. I don't want building 1 and 2 to route to each other. I have other requirements but I think if I see these examples I can work from there. Do I need to worry about dhcp etc? Do I need to set up a relay of some sort? Also how would we need to configure it so we can use wake on lan from AB Tutor to turn on all the PCs in Building 1 and 2. Is there going to be a problem with this particular method? I am currently reading through ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/3500_5400_6200_AdvTrfGde-July2006-59913827.pdf but I really need to see some decent working examples so I can get my head around it. That was pretty much what I was thinking for where they were going to go. Does anyone else have any input on RAID levels?

I have my HP 2012 FC San which I have had for a while. At the time I bought it with 5 SATA disks to keep the cost down. This has been configured in RAID 5 with 2 hot spares (Did have one hot spare but when one went I bought and extra as well). This has been storing our user files and application source points. We are moving to server 2008 from 2003 over the summer and I will be implementing about 75% as VMs. I have treated the san to 7 new 15k SAS disks so I have 7 X 15k SAS Disks 300 gig 5 x 7.5K SATA Disks 450 gig My main data volumes will be: Staff User Data (100 users) 100 gig Student User Data (750 users no more than 250 in use at once) 150 gig Media Courses storage (Movies flash etc for ICT iMedia) 50 gig Common area (Used for all staff resources, mostly office docs and some movie clips etc) 150 gig Admin Storage (only for admins special apps and storage, hardly used) 100 gig Virtual Machines 2 x DCs,File Server, DPM Server(Storage for this may go on an Openfiler box I am thinking of implementing), SCCM server, Print server. SIMs will be on it's own physical machine and we wont have Exchange after the upgrade. So given this set up what should I put on the slower set and what on the faster set and what raid level shall I use bearing in mind I will need hot spares. Obvious ones are: VMs on SAS Admin Storage SATA I guess I am just wondering what others will be ok on the SAS disks without degrading the performance of the VMs. Also RAID levels as previously mentioned 5,6,10 etc? I realise I will lose a lot of storage with some of these RAID types so I am just looking for the best balance.

MS quals here http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcitp.aspx#tab2 I would look at some of the technician ones then the MCSA or N+ etc. As for study I would usually use the MS Press book and Mark Minasi's Mastering Server 2008 R2. There are plenty of training videos out there, paid for ones include CBT Nuggets and Trainsignal. Some free videos :Professor Messer Exam prep software: Transcender, Boson and others. I am currently studying for the MCITP: Server Administrator to "upgrade" my MCSA to 2008. It's been 7 years since I did my last exams so I am ready for some new ones . Do a qualification that is relative to your level as there's no point doing Enterprise Administrator when you don't have any experience on that scale. Some of the stuff is quite interesting on some of the certs involving WDS etc.

Just to add to this, do lots of practice exams as you need to get use to the way that they ask questions. They will try and catch you out on some questions so read them twice before you answer and keep checking through if you have time left.

I have always used MS press books but that 70-680 seems to be in need of a serious revision as there are a lot of mistakes in it according to reviews on Amazon etc. Here is the official Microsoft list of corrections. If you have experience then self study. If you are fairly inexperienced then courses are good but not these boot camp jobs. By self study I mean books, videos (CBT Nuggets etc) and some kind of exam practice. I am a 2000 MCSA and I am currently updating to MCITP Server Administrator then maybe Enterprise Administrator. There are other ones you might consider depending on your experience like the Enterprise Desktop Administrator. I like the content of one of those exam requirements such as WDS etc.
