  1. It was a few months ago and I can't remember if it autoplayed or not but it would have used the encryption utility, but surely the point is if you don't support SanDisk's, tell us before we waste a lot of time preparing them this way. In some ways they almost have this "god" status where they can do what they like because we want our results processed!
  2. Anyone had this? No mention on any guidance I remember reading. Sounds like a load of rubbish to me. Of course now they want us to send it all to them again via another route.
  3. Thanks, I haven't got as much confidence at the moment Couldn't install with manually inputting our proxy address Teacher said the demo mode to students just lagged and then crashed the whole program Thumbnails weren't appearing on most PC's but then a few turned up a bit later which is strange
  4. A bit of a thread wake-up, is anyone on the new AB Cloud version yet? They are retiring the trusted V7 soon so have to make a move in one direction or another.
  5. Edulink for us has been good. Quick responses from support. Used it for a number of years now. They do have occasional problems here and there, but who doesn’t.
  6. How long have you had Ab Cloud installed for out of interest?
  7. Just got an email saying Abtutor v7 is EOL and will end before the end of August. Not a lot of notice but I guess that is in their interests. At the moment we are struggling to keep up with the workload with 2 team members leaving, I estimate we're losing 50 technical hours a week. Having a quick read-up, people have commented that v9 takes more work to set-up and requires a separate server, so I'm keen to avoid this. AB cloud is coming but in beta at the moment. V8 looks best but I don't know much about it or how easy it is to migrate to it so any feedback would be useful. By the way, please don't say, we use a different system called blah blah blah and it's great. I haven't got time to research a new system and the teachers have loved abtutor for the last 10 years. Thanks in advance
  8. Actually, I got demo codes sent to me today and it worked on a test. Not overly impressed with the support as they don't seem familiar with the process. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
  9. Ok, normally if I do a search for exam software and get no previous threads, then that is a good sign, I hope. Anyone else used this recently? It could be turning into a mare, but I'm not sure yet. On Friday 85 students need to be doing a test at the same time. I talked certain staff out of doing this in the hall on 85 laptops and now we are running it from IT rooms that are next to each other. I had 2 weeks to deploy it which seemed reasonable. I made a start and got 2 rooms done. After 1 week my wife gets ill last Friday and is still in hospital. I then have to work from home to be able to take my son to school. Ok fine, I've managed to install the other rooms by working remotely and hoping people don't turn PC's off, and also having an IT team of 2 because 2 left before Xmas. Now I want to run a demo test before the real tests. Read the documentation and can't find anything about how to do it. Contact support and they say it's on page 31, but I only have 15 pages of the same titled document. Ok so they then send me their copy that has the info on, but it then doesn't say what codes you are meant to use for the demo test!!! Why does this always happen to exam software? I've re-contacted support and have one day left before the actual exams and I'm hoping for a decent reply before then unless someone here happens to know the procedure?
  10. 1 week to go, An Outstanding school by the way
  11. I'm starting to get a spate of students knocking at the door and running off. Usually I can hear them running off but not all the time. We have got some blocked windows to the side of the door that I could use to see out of and wondered if anyone had used that one-way window film that you can apply and how successful it is? I think students may still be able to peer in depending on light levels. Please don't say put a camera up. I don't want to go down that route.

    HDMI Headaches

I’ve had numerous issues down the years. Here are a few pointers: Yes, more connections do not help so try to limit them, but then if you go a to b in one length and the laptop \ PC end gets broke… Look to see if there is a maximum supported distance from the screen or projector. We had Smart E70 screens that caused me issues for years. When I looked in the manual the max distance was 3m which isn’t far at all. You can get booster adapters, (yes another connection) but these helped in our situation above. If you get a temperamental connection, where sometimes it’s ok but other days not, you are probably pushing the distance or number of connections. General HDMI’s are not meant to go much further than 10m. You can buy some HDMI over ethernet adapters that can go much longer distances but I haven’t much experience of these. Expensive cables don’t mean better quality as such. I opened another thread on here some time ago debating this fact and that was the general opinion.
  14. You might have something there. My boss had recently purchased jamf and set it up. I have no idea what it can and can’t do. I’ll check after xmas. Thanks
  15. Nice idea but these are older late 2013 macs. Everything in the link is more recent. Any how thanks for replying. I haven’t got much experience with macs so I could be missing something
  16. We have Imac's in our Media Suite with MacOS (recently upgraded to Catalina) and Windows 10 installed on a separate partition. Since the upgrade to Catalina it seems USB sticks that I boot off into a WinPE to restore and upgrade the Windows partitions has stopped working. Suspiciously the USB sticks shows up as a Hard drive icon and not as a USB icon like before on the boot screen. When you try to boot you get the "Non bootable device -- insert boot disk..." message Anyone know what's going on here? The same stick boots fine on another imac with no MacOS or an older MacOS on it.
  17. I've got to update our A2C software soon. Does anyone know if you can run the update over the top of the existing install without installing afresh?
  18. Does anyone know if there is a way of doing this? Tried looking at the policies and can't see an obvious way of doing it, but I'm no expert.
  19. Trans/PGM -> 79
  20. We've been experiencing issues and I would just like to check what the latest firmware is available for the handsets model 1010i ? Thanks
  21. I think secure boot needs to be off for fog. Not the best answer but you could move the storage to the another pc so you can deploy the image and then move it back again.
  22. So the PAT testers (or whatever you want call them) came back today but this time it was just the boss. The conversation went like this: B I see these laptops have been visually tested? Me Yes, but we've decided not to test them now because your colleague was failing them because keys were missing B I wouldn't have failed them Me Well, we need some consistency here either they pass or not pass. Anyway we're not checking them now. This has happened before to be honest. One year the same company passed some desktops and the next year failed them because some else from the same company was checking them!
  23. Has anyone come across this? New PAT testers came this summer and they agreed to PAT test the chargers as normal and then visually check the laptops. They then put failed stickers on laptops with missing keys which I wasn't too happy about. In my 17 years working as a technician I've never seen this from a PAT tester and assumed PAT test means checking electrical safety. He said it failed because it isn't the same condition as it was when it came out the original box. I also assume with a failed sticker on it, it is telling the user not to use the laptop because it is unsafe. Can of worms now open...
