I'm not sure what it is you're asking. We use Google Apps for Education and each user has their own login which gives them email, Google Docs, Google Drive, etc. As the login is unique it shouldn't matter on shared devices (assuming the previous user logged out correctly of course!)

Not sure if I've posted this before in other Yodel threads but I had my Amazon Prime memberships extended by 3 months completely free two years running because of Yodel's incompetence at Christmas. First year they claimed they couldn't find the school - on a street that apart from houses has a leisure centre, a Library and a school all next to each other - and had supposedly attempted delivery at 8.30pm! The second year they claimed they'd lost the parcel and were told by Amazon to deliver it when they'd found it, despite sending a duplicate order with another courier, as it had an item in that was now out of stock. A week later I received notification that it had been returned to Amazon. I kept telling Amazon that I never have any issues with their deliveries throughout the year to this address it is always at Christmas and always when Yodel are involved. Hopefully they've completely stopped using them now but I doubt it so I look forward to more anger this Christmas, more complaints to Amazon and more free extensions to my Prime Membership.

Yep, same here. 2 UPSs and cable from each to the server. Never had the facility here but at one company I worked for we had 2 separate feeds into the server room from the main "feed room", each with its own dado trunking.* Separate UPS connected to each which then went into separate PSUs! * Room had been gutted and completely new electrics, etc. installed. Being a construction company helped as well!

I can't comment on the specific projector as we don't have short throw but I've just replaced all our old Sanyos with Epsons. With some you can upgrade your warranty for free if they don't have 3 year as standard. Deteils here: Warranty registration system - Epson

As above. We had to renew our AV subscription this year and got it ridiculously cheap on a 3 year deal so stayed with it. I like the fact that I can do application control through it as well as AV protection (assuming this isn't possible in other companies' products!) Only issue I've had really was installing Enterprise Console 5.2.1 R2 on a new server. Took a little investigating but ultimately boiled down to it not being able to create a scheduled task due to security restrictions.

I'll probably have a go just so I can see how it is actually done if nothing else. SIMS support is through the LEA so I knew I wouldn't get help from them for a test setup. Knew I'd get help from here though!

In all honesty I don't know for certain. I was just asked if we had a test environment and the reasons he gave sounded sensible (something about big changes to the timetable for next year). As I have virtually 0 knowledge of SIMS I couldn't question it or offer an alternative solution.

We have a company preparing our timetable for next year and they have asked for a test SIMS server to use. This sounds perfectly sensible to me but I have no idea how to install SIMS from scratch. I have a support net login but can't seem to find how to install from the very start. Can anyone point me in the direction of an install guide, Capita produced or otherwise? Obviously I'll be using the existing data on our existing "live" server so any instructions on how to migrate this across would be greatly appreciated as well.

I think our Head of D&T went on a course to learn how to use it that was free on the proviso that we hosted a training session and the certification exam here for so many people.

I still have all my old cassettes! All I ever seemed to do was cycle and listen to music on my personal cassette player (didn't ever own a sony but my sanyo still worked last time I checked a couple of years ago) as my best friend lived in a village 5 miles away and i spent all my free time there.

I'm laughing / not laughing as we had exactly the same problem with 380s last week in 2 ICT suites, but the towers not SFF. 2 were completely missing but I had 2 spares and the rest were just pushed in slightly. Worst part was removing a piece of chewing gum stuck to a stick of RAM from one and a half-eaten mouldy sandwhich from the other. Friday morning the Apprentice completely sorted one of the ICT suites during period 2 but by the end of the day 4 of them were pushed in again! Unfortunately it was a cover teacher all day...

I'm making some of our users very happy by replacing 9 year old HP d330s (P4) with Optiplex 960s (Core 2 Quad) I've purchased second hand! From there I need to see if the money fairy will visit and allow me to get rid of the Optiplex 210Ls (P4 with HT). I suppose if they "all mysteriously fail in a spectacular fashion" the bean counters will have to insist the money fairy visits as they are all in an ICT suite!

We tend to use Welcome Cottages - same company but often a bit cheaper for the same cottage! I also tend to use LateRooms quite a bit as well. I've found some great B&Bs through there.

As above. I used to wear a tie but I found it too impractical because although strictly speaking I'm "in manglement" (as some have put it) I'm too hands on. Plus a tie is a pointless item of clothing - it keeps nothing up and nothing in! When required I do wear a suit & tie though.
