  1. Created in 2003 and being opened in 2003. Thanks everybody for your help. The Data Manager and Exams manager ended up making a new one between them so the reports can be printed out starting tomorrow!
  2. Think I will contact Emerge and ask for some sort of indicative pricing. Then I can decide whether it's worth having a trial and buying a tablet.
  3. We're on XP. Not able to find it anywhere, not one that we can actually open anyway. Found several on the SIMS server under DOCSTORAGE with a HEX prefix but they all give the same error message. LEA did get a reply from Crapita eventually but only to ask for screen shots of the error message, even though I'd told them exactly what it said.. Personally I think the template needs recreating from scratch but naturally the people who use it / created it don't really want to do that.
  4. Strangely enough that has just come up here, as it does pretty much every year! Will have a look at that.
  5. As far as I am aware all of the data reports are working it is just any of the pupil "school report" ones. The reports themselves won't open on any machine regardless of user rights, etc. so I think the master one is totally borked. I've also done the smart tags thing without success as that was the first thing the LEA told us to try. At the moment we are still waiting for them to get a reply from Crapita.
  6. Yep - full control...
  7. I'm not sure what you mean by this? I've done the above, tried to run the report again and now have a "36Degrees" folder under My SIMS Documents with a 0Kb 36Degrees.xml and a .dict file. tempSimsRpt has 5 files in it: a .enc, 2 .dot files and 2 .Rtftemplate files Sorry if I'm being dense but I actually have very little to do with SIMS and therefore very little knowledge or experience.
  8. We can't open any reports for pupils at the moment because we seem to have a corrupt Word template. Whenever we try to open it we get an error message relating to IndRepStudentTemplate.xml (it cannot be opened due to a problem with its contents). Our LEA can't resolve it and they have been chasing Capita for several days for a response without success. Their latest suggestion while they wait for Capita, is just to open it directly and copy the contents into a new template so that we don't have to recreate it from scratch. Seems logical but I cannot find where IndRepStudentTemplate.xml is despite doing a full search including system folders and hidden files and folders. Can anybody out there help?
  9. Exactly as above. The reason for not using the full version is political, not because I have any doubts that I couldn't use it very successfully.
  10. What specifically? We have just signed up and although I wasn't consulted at any point I'd be interested to know your thoughts.
  11. There's a strange yellow disc in the sky at the moment. Does anyone know what it is and should I report it as a UFO?
  12. That confuses me even more as we have supposedly had the LEA's firewall rules amended to allow access to all google servers, due to issues we had with Google Docs! I don't suppose you know which Google server?
  13. Did you get an answer to this? We are having the same issue and although I will contact the LEA any additional information would be gratefully received.
  14. Quote of the day from a Year 3 pupil yesterday (visit from local primary all morning): "We don't have rain like this at our school".
  15. Just been picking up submerged power cables, multi-socket extensions, laptop power supplies, etc. The staff room went from water coming through the door to top of my shoes in a couple of minutes...
  16. We use exactly the above. I think we have 2 conflicts in approximately 1100 pupils. I have seen admission numbers from SIMS used. Unsurprisingly most pupils could not remember that they were A45926 rather than 08JBloggs EDIT: Ooops, just saw @beagle's post - no offence intended, it just caused so many problems with pupils forgetting their usernames never mind their passwords.
  17. Possibly but the terms were made clear so they knew it was a "one shot" quote and I don't make the rules. Hate the game not the player!
  18. Fortunately I knew exactly what I wanted but, yes, I see the point you're making. I suppose it depends on your specific organisation's rules and if there are different ones whether it is classed as a quote or a tender.
  19. The last large value one I did (100 PCs) we had to have sealed bids due to the value. Each prospective supplier was told to quote for the computers as specified and return this in a clearly labelled, sealed envelope by a certain date. All quotes were then opened at the same time by myself with the school's Business & Finance Manager present. Apparently this is to prevent someone receiving a quote and then tipping the wink to their friend / favourite supplier to reduce theirs accordingly.
  20. I was once effectively told by a senior manager to shut up after asking a question at an event and rephrasing it until the person actually answered it rather than evaded it. All the ICT guys in the room were nodding knowingly as I asked it and I believe that in any other environment I would have been expected to ask until it was properly answered.
  21. * Interest in thread suddenly increases exponentially *
  22. Variation on a theme: Assuming you like toast, do you prefer jam, marmalade or neither?
  23. You can't buy me either but I bet my wife would swap me for a couple of bags of Haribo...
  24. I haven't used AutoCAD in a school environment but I had a lot of "fun" with 2004 when I worked for a construction company. The vast majority of issues we had were ultimately traced back to graphics card drivers, especially if the CAD workstations had ATI cards in. Even if it was an error that couldn't possibly be graphics card related, the issue would be related to the graphics card drivers. For example, install 2004 on new computer with latest drivers and pillars detach from walls when the drawing is printed. Put the previous drivers on and problem disappears! Have you upgraded any of the drivers recently?
  25. I listen to XFM. Traffic & travel is obviously about London but they play a good mix of music that I like. They're currently playing Big Audio Dynamite's E=MC2!
