We have macs in both Media and Music , Limited apps - I just installed them manually ( we do have SCCM ) I actually used Centrify for logins , and works great . AD credentials and map's shares to their desktop also controls restrictions on the device . The version i have actually have GP extensions , so you can edit settings that way I actually created a Music share and created a server based script to create a folder for each user and assign appropriate permissions for that pupil only and their teacher ( they are also sorted into year groups ) , also picks up any new user added to the system ( it runs daily ) Really simple stuff i suppose, but then again they are pretty simple machines compare to windows 10. One thing to note ! if using "Final Cut Pro" don't allow it to save to a network , its too intense for more than a few machines and will cause issues. I believe in the end i created a script for saving locally with some security rights.

We just did one last night . Worked fine with Smoothwall. But then again i have the exceptions in place and a large range of UDP ports unblocked on our separate firewall on demand when its required , Turned off again once finished.

Just had this happen to us . 2016 Exchange. Ran the MS fix but then also had to restart the transport service after to kick start the submission queue. Pain in the arse but all seems ok now. Maybe the final nail in the coffin for us to go full Online Exchange

How does other schools limit access to the search bar / search people. If a child currently types in a initial they can see all users currently on office365. Ideally we want to limit this so they can only see teachers ( we include a custom attribute in AD sync) If this isnt possible, can we disable the feature ? We already limit the outlook GAB to just teachers emails. Thanks

Hi, We are about to try and test on a sixthform open evening with the school cloud parents evening software. I have run a "Test" evening involving a few parents/teachers. I experienced a black screen issue which was quite random . I then run the twilio networking test , which bought up a few fails. I then read the support guide, and unblocked the required UDP ports via the firewall and all tests pass. I then run another "Test" evening , still a few black screens where the parent couldnt see the teacher. While speaking to schoolcloud they mentioned port 443 should be unblocked (TCP). We apply our proxy via GP, so even if we unblocked TCP 443 , the clients will still be using the proxy. I have thought about adding twilio.com to the IE exceptions list , and unblocking 443. All twilio.com traffic should then bypass the proxy. Can any one else let me know what they managed to do to get this fully working ? without random black screens.

i installed the latest 21h2 on a single machine, none of the printers mapped. I assumed it was a incompatibility issue with PrinterMapper software. Just some info for anyone who uses Exchange 2016 on premise. Had a problem recently where out of office reply's wasn't working correctly, was very touch and go and most of the time you would get "Server Unavailable" But the main issue was Teams calendar which is linked to onsite exchange via the oauth method . That wasn't also syncing most of the time Most research will make you think its an exchange setup error ( most information out there is for setups where it doesn't work at all ) Checking the event viewer, there will be some errors in System with the source being "WAS". Solution Either myself or the recent updates i installed ( plus the temp security patches for that latest vulnerability ) put on the following software "Microsoft Exchange Web Services Managed API 2.2" this caused all the issues ! You can remove this as Exchange has its own version in the "Bin" directory. Hopefully this will save someone a morning of issues !

Yep ! just tested this does exactly as described. I assume the splitter bypasses this issue as its always active.

Had this exact same conversation this morning with the teacher who its happening to . I have changed her over to a Splitter to see if the issue is still the same. Which i assume it wont be. I also saw this for a older version of Powerpoint Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\PowerPoint\Options] "RestoreTopology"=dword:00000001 unsure if it still works , but worth a shot

Never noticed the "Active Signal Resolution" before. Interesting. It seems a lot of people suggest the HDMI splitter option. Kind of annoying that is whats required Did that "Active Resolution" only change after a HDMI splitter was added ?

still having this problem with newline display screens on HDMI and monitor on VGA. We have disabled presentation view on power point and the GPO listed above. Unsure whats causing it , its 3 different models of PC's but all use Intel graphics ( different generations ) Our Pcs are set to duplicate and it causes the screens to go black ( windows changes the display settings to "Show on 1 " instead of duplicate)

Thanks for the quick reply. We are already office 2019 so we can rule that one out I have now set as per recommendations "Presenter view" to 0 as default I also disabled another setting in GP for powerpoint , Automatically extend the display when presenting on a laptop or tablet . I currently have a good HDMI splitter on the heads machine running an interactive display . So will keep a eye on that and see if that has the same issues. Many thanks !

Thank you for that, will check that one out. I had a problem yesterday , the setup had changed to "Display only on screen 1" instead of duplicate. That hasn't happened very often , but has happened a few times. I know the Windows+p key can change settings easily. But the teacher in question said it happened in the middle of doing something.

We have various setups on teachers machines Such as 1 monitor and 1 Digital display screen 2 monitor and 2 Digital display screen 1 monitor and 1 projector etc I Have managed to remove most VGA splitters from classrooms and now most use multiple HDMI ports or VGA/HDMI for dual setups. The problem i am having is, Randomly what i setup originally ( duplicate screen etc ) seems to change for different people. Do these settings get stored in a users roaming profile ? ( yep ! we are still using roaming ) I cant pinpoint it as when i test it with my various accounts the display settings remain unchanged.. and only change if i physically change it in display settings.

Bit of a noob when it comes to this . But noticed in office when i open or save documents it brings up the users one drive , But also brings up " Sites DOMAINNAME.com " , this looks like it saves to a shared share point site . Meaning all kids can upload here and access from word etc . Can i remove/hide this ? I have removed the kids group from the site ( looks like a default global site setup as default) which has prevented them from accessing or saving , But ideally would like to hide it. Thanks 2097

I have been deploying via the ESD file and a batch , Took a while ( i think the esd was corrupt) but i got it working ok ( despite it taking a very long time to install ).

Do you mean you "disabled" the accounts ? If so, Exchange/outlook still works internally with a disabled account . As their credentials are cached and still authenticated. We have had this issue and now have to delete/disable the exchange accounts also.

Have noticed on 2004 and 2004 20H2 that the "Flight Mode" at logon screen is accessible despite the wireless card being disabled. Has any one else got this issue ? 1909 with the wireless card disabled was fine and flight mode was greyed out. Lucky not many rooms yet with 2004, and only one with wireless cards !
