This will be brilliant! I mean, it'll launch with a lot of fanfare and a handful of bugs, and there'll be lots of discussion on a Google Group for it... then a couple of months later there'll be a new release with a confusing new feature no-one asked for nor can make sense of, and all the same bugs... there still won't be any actual documentation on it, or anything... then the next you'll hear about it will be 18 months later when they announce they're cancelling it. I mean, that's the path YouTube for Schools is on, isn't it?

They're alright. They're about what you'd expect from the market. They've replaced toners & drums we've complained about without fuss, and they run alright in our Brother printers. Sometimes takes a bit of arguing with the account manager about the price when you can see an item on their website for cheaper than they're quoting you, but the products are ok. We have successfully argued for a "we'll call you, you don't call us" set up as well.

Not sure I get you - do you want to be able to go into messaging without unlocking the phone? Cos that kinda defeats the point of a lock screen to my ears, so I must be misunderstanding :S You can double tap on a notification and it'll prompt you for your unlock pattern/whatever, then take you straight to the app e.g. double tap on a message notification, swipe my pattern, get taken straight to Messaging to reply.

You can turn the new Chrome behaviour off in Chrome (Merge tabs and apps), and it turns out that "Priority" is basically "Silent", with some settings you can tweak so certain people's phone calls will override it. GMail being the app for all email is a bit of a pain, as the notification logo is the same; but the lock screen will tell me what email is where, I've got two separate widgets for each mailbox as I had before, and I managed to kludge Light Flow Lite so that I still have two separate colours on my notification LED. The bit that annoyed me was the storm giant things having a big scrap around the mountains in the first film. As BIG and DRAMATIC and EXCITING as it looks, I spent the whole scene wondering when it was going to end because it didn't matter at all. Completely irrelevant to characters and plot and so I had no investment in it at all. It was like a music video interval, it was so meaningless.

Getting the same message, but my reading of it was that we asked our reseller for free licences as with the student one. Asked mine yesterday, just waiting for an answer... because this'd be a sight less faff than putting all the Home Use Program transactions through my school procurement card.

We used to have problems with certain lower end 3COM switches wherein the ARP table on the switch would get full (they were only 256 big) and so not every machine would get a ping reply - e.g. I would get no reply & panic, then get a tech to check and it'd be fine. Going in and clearing the arp table from the command line would fix it. I've a feeling the V1910 is a rebadged 3COM so I'd hazard a guess this is your issue. When it happens next, putty/telnet in and reset arp dynamic If you can ping from everywhere again then you know that was the problem, so back in your putty session: sys arp timer aging 5 to reduce the time the switch holds on to its ARP entries, so it doesn't fill up. Other than causing panics, I don't think it caused any real issues, and it's stopped happening since we VLANned into segments < 256 hosts big.

Ours went up, and there was some reshuffling of products - I think Datacenter shifted from being per core to per dual-core, so you need half as many licences, except the per-dual-core licence is more than twice as much as the old per core - but we've always had to licence our server OS on top of EES (over three years now). Only about £30 p.a. for a Standard Server licence though; SQL is the biggest server expense. I have to wonder if your reseller advised you incorrectly in the first place and you've not been fully licensed in the past, and now they're trying to cover their tracks...

Try restarting the Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service; that won't interrupt running VMs at all but is the service that is giving you grief right now.

You'd need to install the FOG service on each computer, and I have no idea how to do that as FOG was set up and is administered by one of my techs, but you shouldn't need to do any of the imaging stuff if you don't want to. FOG runs on Ubuntu for us, there should be ample instructions about on setting up the server. Probably overkill if you don't already have it in place, but a FOG server will record login history for a computer, and we've used that to compile stats on rooms before. It's a bit depressing how little some PCs are used, particularly in light of the arguments necessary to remove them sometimes
