The foundation degree has slightly different modules (some I'd be interested in - ie Project Management). Would you advise going down that route and upgrading in the future once I know I can stomach the work load?

Thanks @witch. I've looked a little into it. It appears that distance learning at the other unis require an element of day release, which unfortunately isn't an option for me. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi guys, I floated the idea of an OU degree to my boss and he has encouraged me to gather some more information. I would have to prepare a document as to why the school would benefit. Has anyone here done this? My role is ICT Systems Manager of a large secondary school, with budget control and line management duties. I'm cautiously optimistic that this might come to fruition, but a strong case to back me up would really push it over the line. Hi guys, A quick question for those using Sharepoint online as part of the Office365 service. What upload speeds are you getting when uploading files using Windows Explorer? We have a 100MB 1:1 leased line, and I'm trying to gather some statistic on what we should expect. Ours are currently uploading at between 100kb and 200kb, which suggests to me that there is something wrong. How has performance been for you when the site has gone live? Many thanks, David

Could a Windows Update be causing this?

Is it just in one physical area ie Music? Have you tried it with a PCI Network card? Is it for that build on any hardware?

If it is DHCP related - Have you tried it with a static IP?

Is this pre-logon? What happens if you remove it from the domain? Have you tried disabling any unnecessary services from startup?

Sounds to me like it's stuck applying a GPO.

We have just bought in ESET Endpoint Anti-virus, at £2.60 per client for a three year licence. They also carried out a “Rip & Replace” service, for free, where ESET will uninstall any existing anti-virus platform and install ESET thus enabling a hassle free transition. They also offered home user licences for staff and parents up to 20% of the licences purchase so a 1000 licences would equate to 200 free user licences. It is excellent software. I love how light it is on system resources!

I do have full support from SLT, but as with all of these type of changes, there are a percentage of people who think we are doing this to be awkward. Staff here often fail to look at the big picture, which is why I wanted to share some information with them to show them of the impacts it has. I can quickly produce something, just being lazy! I'll just bring it in from September and give them a full half term to cipher through their data.

Hi James, Thanks for your comments. I am fully aware of the benefits to it, but it's just how to go about communicating it. I implemented it at my last school, and it was excellent. Some of my users have over 50gb in their folder, and despite several requests (even from the HT!) they only manage to trim a few hundred mb off! I want to force the issue, but a simple document that can be shared and reused will hopefully inform them of the benefits at user level. Many thanks,

When you carried this out on your network, how did you communicate this with the users? Do you have an 'introduction to disk quotas' type document that I can amend to show how users will be effected by the change and the reasons behind it? Many thanks,

Hi, We have problems with our domain controllers not being able to connect to Windows Update. We are getting Error:80070005 (access denied) Only seems to happen on our dc's. They are both 2008r2 virtual machines, plus 1 physical 2008r2. Has anyone experienced this before? Many thanks
