Thank you for the advice. That's the way I'm thinking at the moment. The only things I like about the Samsung is the quicker processor and better camera (from what I've read). That said, I'm not a professional photographer so I'm sure the M9's camera will still be awesome for what I need.

I'm in an identical situation to you. M9 or S6!

@abillybob How are you getting on with the Nexus? @ConnorByrne Are you even remotely considering anything else or is it definitely HTC M9 for you? The way I'm feeling now, there is going to have to be a major design flaw (much like iPhone 4 and the antenna issue) that would put me off getting it. I'm not sure I believe this stuff about the temperature. They'd never release a smart phone with a metal case that gets so dangerously hot. Would be shocking quality control if they did! The s6 looks nice, but I prefer the skin on the HTC, and the overall look of the phone. I'm looking forward to getting one in my hands and having a proper play.

Same here. Despite earlier moaning about the price of Apple products, I am happy to pay a good whack to get a good phone. I normally keep my phones for 3-4 years minimum. The only new criteria is that I get good spec for my money!

@matt40k & @DGardiner, you both make really interesting points. Techie geeks like myself love this kind of conversation. I'm really excited about getting a new handset. Much more then I thought I was going to be. Is there a reviews section of the Edugeek website? I think it would be particularly useful if fellow geeks spent a few minutes sharing reviews with each other. I have way more faith in the views of members here then what I would get in a shop, or on biased websites.

Right, so I've spent weeks and weeks debating, and it's going to definitely be HTC One M9. Now to spend another few weeks debating between the silver an the gunmetal finish! (I know I'm sad, before anyone mentions it!).

I'm sure I've read somewhere that Samsung has reduced the bloat by 40% (which probably still means there is a lot of it!).

Interesting points Garacesh. I've never owned a *big* phone, but I'm just put off at the prospect of it not fitting comfortably in my pocket. I would also prefer to be able to hold it in one hand. The other thing is I'm not one to watch media on the phone, so the large screen would probably be wasted on me. All personal preference I'm sure.

I'm favouring the HTC at the moment, as I'm a sucker for build quality. Of all the reviews and research I'm doing at the moment the general consensus is that the S6 is such an improvement on the S5 that it will be the best phone of 2015. It seems to edge the HTC on processor, camera, screen etc. Though I do like the SD card slot, and to be honest I think the Quad HD will likely drain the battery quicker than a 1080p screen. I know it largely boils down to personal preference.

I'm in exactly the same boat! Between S6 and HTC m9 for me. I keep changing my mind! I'd go for the Nexus if it wasn't so big.

You don't have to abandon all services if you change providers. It's not an 'All or Nothing' deal. We get our core internet service through EXA, filtering through lightspeed, and web hosting and other sync services through LEA. It's easy to work our value for money if you itemise what you get to begin with.

I'm not sure I could keep faith after spending so much money on it.

I'm leaning towards the M9 at the moment. Being an iPhone user for the last 8 years, the build quality is important to me. The HTC looks really nice.

All your reasons seem valid to me. It's back to my original point about the Apple stuff being low spec for high price.

I love how it was only 3 hours between you going down the iOS route and ending up with a Nexus 6! What caused the change of heart? I keep going round in circles between the Nexus 6, Samsung Galaxy S6 or HTC One M9. Can't make my mind up! Edit - I'm going to add the Moto X into the options. It looks pretty cool too.

Thanks Duranis. At the moment, I've already narrowed it down to Samsung Galaxy S6, HTC One or the Nexus 6. I want to get the phones in my hands before making a decision. I'm really buying into the advise of 'pure android', but my predicament is that the Nexus 6 looks a little too large. Time to get stuck into the reviews!

I want to add another reason why I'm frustrated with Apple. How you always have to send your kit off for repair JUST so they can over-charge you for bog-standard services. An example of this is my Macbook Pro. Nearly 5 years old. My finger pad was sticking. The cause was the battery swelling. I couldn't simply buy a new battery and fit it myself (which is literally a 10 minute job), I had to send it off to Apple and received a bill of £130. All internal screws are pretty unique JUST so they can retain nearly all repair costs. Sorry to go a little off-topic. Back to phones for discussion.
