  1. Trying to get Discover working. Have installed using the default settings (trusted connection, services running as Network Service). When running the initial transfer however am getting a timeout error. Tried reinstalling, restarting services etc to no avail. Any ideas gratefully received!
  2. Hi I'm starting to toy with the idea of UniFi for our school..... currently using unmanaged wireless, and cannot afford the likes of Ruckus, Meru, Aruba etc. I'd be interested to hear anyone's experiences of UniFi - particularly does anyone know if they support guest access, VLAN'ing, NAT etc? If we go down this route it'll likely lead to students using their own devices. Can anyone recomend a supplier if we decide to get some test kit? Many thanks!
  3. Hi We use mandatory profiles - all students around the school use the same base profile. It happens on some Pcs more than others, but confined to one room.
  4. No it's not. We have many other suites that haven't exhibited this problem.......
  5. Hi We have one (oldish) suite of PCs that has in the last few weeks developed a problem whereby some PCs in the room will have the taskbar/startbutton/system tray turn solid blue with no icons etc. Windows Explorer still functions to open folders etc, and keyboard shortcuts get round the problem (but some students can't cope with that). This is Windows XP. The issue appears to be random, except that it always happens on about 3 - 8 PCs within a couple of minutes of eachother. Any ideas please?!
  6. Hi Joe If you install ffdshow (freely downloadable) that will let you insert avi files from a Flip into Moviemaker in the normal way. If however your Flip camcorders output mp4 files as some do, you'll have to use an mp4 to avi converter first (we use a freeware one). This applies to the standard def Flips, I know the HD ones output in a different format, but thankfully we don't have any of those!). Hope this helps!
  7. Thanks for all the replies. We're not running offline files or folder redirection on appdata, but have managed to stop this through setting Group policy to delete temporary internet files when the browser is closed.
  8. Does anyone know of any combined helpdesk and room/resource booking systems?? Preferably ree! but will pay if we have to.
  9. We started buying these a few months ago... I've got round this be installed MediaCodec and/or ffdshow codecs to play back the videos and insert them into MovieMaker. Also MediaCodec adds support to Smart Notebook so that you can insert any video file not just flash files which some of our staff love....
  10. We have recently started deploying Windows 7 and are getting this error with some users:( - who are all on mandatory profiles. I can go in and delete the offending temporary internet file..... but does anyone have an actual solution? It looks as if the files are blocking the logoff from completing fully (Local appdata only, no LocalLow folder created, no .dat log files).
