I think if you do the maths even if you have to pay a small disposal fee, you would still save money by buying compatibles as they are so much cheaper. The place we buy them from they can be up to 70% less.

There should be no issues with any car stereo if you're using a SOT lead to wire it in, as the hands free kit fits in-line with this cable. As the ISO plugs in the middle of the SOT lead are industry standard, the bury hands free kit should just plug in these, take the power etc. straight from the cable, and feed the sound directly to your speakers completely bypassing your car stereo. There's also no need to connect up the tel-mute lead as I believe it physically cuts the sound to the speakers. This is from reading on the internet for the last 5 minutes, although I have fitted a simelar hands free kits in the past that worked in the same way (although we're going back a few years now!) Edit: The post above made the assumption you were using the the AC 5120 speaker switch box which I've just realised is optional. You should have more connections than just the tel-mute wire going to the stereo, there should be a wire for the sound running to an input on the rear of the stereo (if yours supports it.) The presence of a tel-mute cable doesn't not always mean it will have the input for the sound, as traditionally hands free kits are wired in with a dedicated speaker. I'm not familiar with that model of vauxhall stereo, so I can't tell you if it does have the necessary input on it. If it is fully bonded on then I wouldn't chance removing it as you'll never get it on again with it remaining completely clear. One of the screens on our cashless catering got broken a while back - it was just the front layer of glass with the touch screen membrane bonded to it that was smashed. We though we could repair it by un-picking the broken glass and then replacing it, but we could not get the bonded touch screen layer to re-bond clearly so in the end we had to get a new screen (£450) Mike.

The location for the centre of your network does not necessarily have to be the physical centre, the 'centre' of ours is way off to one side, just means some of the fibre cables have to run further than they might do otherwise which makes little to no difference really. Ideally with that many fibres running off to other cabinets you need an HP chassis switch to act as your core switch, something like the 4204vl will probably be adequate for your needs. Populate this with 1 x module which will accept 4xmini GBIC's for your fibre connections, and then the rest of the modular bays with as many network ports as you need for that cabinet at whatever speed you want. Ideally your servers should connect straight to this switch as well. Doing it that way will be pricey, but you will get a good setup as a result.

Yes that does sound like certain devices on the network are being flooded and therefore the normal traffic can't get through. We get this with our Cisco wireless access points when we use multicasting, although we only use it in the holidays so it doesn't really matter too much. However it shouldn't cause this sort of problem if your switches are setup properly for it.

This is true, a lot of thanks gets given for posts that are not helpful as such, just things that make you smile etc. There should be 2 rep systems in operation in my opinion - a 'thanks that was helpful and solved my problem' and a 'that made me laugh/smile or I agree with that' type post. Might make things more complicated than they need to be mind you, but would seperate the people who solve issues/problems from the people that post up amusing/funny or other types of post. There's room for both on the forum and the forum needs both, and if the rep system could destinguish between them then it would mean more in my opinion.

When you say 'killing your network' what do you mean? Sometimes multicast activity can cause network issues, specifically with wireless access points and certain routers in my experience as the packets flood these devices and stop them working. If your switches support IGMP then turn this on, as this will then control the multicast traffic and send it only where it is needed. Mike.

We do a flat rate of 1 credit per B/W and 2 credits per colour here on most of our printers, we don't equate it to real money. However we do charge 3 credits per print from our Xerox solid ink printer as this costs a little more to run and it gets a hammering because it's better quality than the others in the school. We also only charge 1 credit per page on our really old colour laser printer in the staff room because it's lower quality and actually cheaper to run as well so we try and encourage staff to use this where possible until it finally decides to go wrong (no signs of it doing so yet!)
