Oh don't get me wrong, G+ is miles better! But it's not going to supplant FB and therefore will probably die off. I and a group of friends started using it some time ago, but we couldn't tempt anyone else across and we've since moved back to FB

Why bother, Google+ can't tackle FB so why should MS be any more successful?

No worries, they were fairly cheap (<£25), the set i had before were pretty nice at £50 (can't remember brand) To be honest all i was trying to say is that in-ears can be comfortable with extended use

In-ears are great at blocking ambient noise. I wear skullcandy in-ear 'phones for hours at a time, you just have to select the right size silicone insert (they come with S, M & L)

Just got the first macbook out with a teacher and she's reporting that she's being prompted for the admin logon to do all sorts of basic things. I've got her set so she can't administer the machine, my biggest fear is the wireless key finding it's way into general knowledge. Is there any good way of achieving both? Edit: ignore me! it seems once the key has been accepted you can't view it again

I was wondering if a different tack might be to mount a normal network location on the mac server that is just used for iphoto and use the windows 'home' for everything else but how can i locate the folder based on the login name? And is there a good way of bulk creating the folders/permissions

Ok just about got there. when i loaded iPhoto it asked which library to use (none listed) or whether i wanted to create one. i don't remember this from before but anyway... I tried to create a new one in the home area and it tells me: 'The library could not be opened because the file system of the library's volume is unsupported'

ah, i was under the impression it wouldn't like the file system and windows based location. As for specific error, i'll have to get back to you, i broke the setup i had this morning and need to reconfigure some stuff to get back to where i was last week.

Is there a seperate version of Mac OSX Server still? if so it's probably included with that.

yes we have it set up in a magic triangle but i want any user on an iMac to be given a Mad home directory instead, to keep the iLife software happy...
