  1. We haven't been successful to get it connect either. We've not had a proper chance to look at it either as it was not a priority for us as we only have 10 ipads at present. It's good to know its not just us having trouble with it.
  2. We had to fill in a form for them to grant us access to the primary schools networks we support and vice versa. They had to be signed by each of the Heads and faxed back to them.
  3. I would recommend sky to. Fast and reliable here too. Also you don't need sky tv to get it anymore.
  4. When you login to the Volume License Service Centre there is a tab that says Software Assurance. The home use program is listed in there. You have to activate the benefit and it will give you an access code that your staff then enter into the home use program website (Microsoft Home Use Program - Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010. The software suite includes Word, Excel PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access and more!) along with their email address, at which they can purchase office at a reduced rate of 8.95 with their own product key.
  5. I have found 1 in the recycling pile to be thrown, all intact with no charger although i do not know the working condition. Only other thing is that it has our school name engraved on the lid...
  6. I will have a look in our cupboard, we had a load of these at one point but cant remember if we still have any. Will let you know ASAP.
  7. Its a DMS-59. You can get them from most suppliers.
  8. I may be being thick here but how do you get it to look at group membership and apply the correct menu? we are currently trying to find the best way to do the redirected start menus in a mixed environment.
  9. We use DVDVideoSoft FreeStudio. Excellent piece of software with all sorts of other converters included aswell as burning software. Cannot fault it one bit.
  10. The server is currently a 2003 R2 VM, looking at moving it to a fresh 2008 R2 VM soon when we move to Windows 7 (which do not seem to have the issue updating the drivers, but could not be 100% of this as we have only a select few at present, and no one has mentioned printing issues yet). We use the Print Management feature included in Server...
  11. Had a look at the event logs of a couple of XP clients and there is nothing flagged up...
  12. Many Thanks, Will give these a try although the policies listed on the link you gave relate to vista and above if im correct. We are currently still on XP but will still try anything
  13. We have recently changed some of our printers but have run into problems where that our XP Clients will not install/update the driver from the server. They will however install the driver if an admin logs in. Any Ideas??? We have various settings in group policy to enable this but it does not seem to work. We have the following setting; "Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options -> Prevent users from installing printer drivers" setting to disabled. Also the point and print restrictions are set to disabled in both user and computer configurations, although i think this setting is for Vista and above.
  14. We are having the same problem here too....
  15. Having a few issues with some HP DC7700s from ICT Direct in which when we deploy our images to them using WDS the MBR is not being overwritten and so the blancco screen shows when the machine boots instead of XP. Is there a quick way to overcome this via WDS without going to each individual machine and fixing the MBR using fdisk or XP recovery console on the CD?
  16. Ebuyer do these projectors and lamps even cheaper. We have a couple and find them to be great projectors, good image and bright.
  17. We use the Utax CLP 3621 which if i am right are the same machine as these. Very reliable and good quality printing, long toner life too.
  18. Map a network drive to the folder as deep as you can get. You will be able to browse even further into the folders then to delete them. You cannot delete a file or a folder on an NTFS file system volume
  19. map a drive as far down as you can get, that will let you get even further into the path. we have had this with a couple of our kids in the past. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320081
  20. We recently purchased an R710 with 2x Xeon E5520 2.27GHz and 32GB 1066 DDR3 with Citrix Xenserver embedded. We use a Netgear Readynas 2100 for the storage of the VMs. Runs without a hitch, currently hosting 5 VMs running various tasks; print serving, Sophos, PCE, Helpdesk, MLS.net and various school applications. We would highly recommend this server!
  21. We use a piece of software called timeleft. It has different functions available, but the part we use basically is a countdown of how much time the kids have left to finish their exam.
  22. Do you still have the furniture available? If so we would appriciate it if we can have both the desks and chairs. Please let me know so I can investigate delivery costs. With Thanks Jim Gough Network Manager Carnforth High School 01524 732424
