  1. doesnt allow for people leaving and entering site.. PARS had a fire module at some point in the past - you kept it connected in it's dock synced up, and then say the receptiontist grabs it on the way out.
  2. All I can say is.. give it a shot and see what happens.
  3. Yeah, I know - but the Extended Schools program still extends to Academies, as does individual neogigation of contracts at local level. I imagine that the divide is even greater between one academy and the next, however.
  4. I'm sure alot of this is identical to a normal school.... An awful lot of Specialist School's loan thier ICT support staff out to primaries. The Extended Schools program extends right across schools & academies and therefore late working is negogitable by individual contracts and need. KYle
  5. Try http://www.computerbatteries.co.u
  6. My understanding was that software sold to an educational instution wasnt restricted to specific T&L purposes. I guess that isnt't the case, but it'd be hard to prove one way or the other.
  7. Isnt't Impero that curse from Harry Potter?
  8. "Virgin Linux" - has Richard Branson morphed into another market place? *runs away*
  9. My understanding of attendance data is that it should be kept until the child's 25th birthday and then destroyed.
  10. 14,000 stores 13,000 stores 12,000 stores 11,000 stores and on it goes.
  11. Have you conducted approiate risk assestments, had apporiate training for working at heights etc? This is why we don't do it. Kyle
  12. That's a fair comment - never used Hebron.Net but they surely do have the right to feedback...
  13. we've bought a 5406zl for our core switch. Worked out about £6.5k inc 48 10/100/1000 ports and the 16 gbics. Plenty of scope for 10GbE, though.
  14. Facility's had its fair share of issues, but then so has SIMS. Facility's taken us 3 years to bed in, though. My own advice would be to get the right system, the first time, and stick with it and run with it.
  15. There are a couple of types of PoE - theres the other that uses the spare wires, and i believe you can also piggyback with power over a different frequencey from data... you can also do it yourself!
  16. This year's devolved capital ICT upgrade feel down - nobody had told the kids they didnt need to logon
  17. we've moved away from eportal for student conduct logs all together due to the lack of an email facility when events are created.
  18. Isn't it theft as a servant to take software keys?
  19. Nice bloke you are
  20. Alrite mate, we work on our systems in the morning, then go out and play a diggeredo on a kangaroo! (bad joke, i know )
  21. We've installed workgroup printers in each department, and internally bill them for the toners. At least that way, its thier problem to stop the kids streaming off the works of Shakespeare.
  22. Our curriculum file & print server is lying in pieces. A blown mobo and two dead processors. For two weeks. Under a three year onsite warranty. Not particulary impressed with that company. Fingers crossed we'll get it sorted before all the 8-11 cherbus arrive back on wed.
  23. Never really considered this - with physical server access you can usually use a tool or two to change a domain admin logon password, and from there, you should be able to work back and break you way into SQL etc.
  24. Samsung ones are excellent. Would recommend you do get an HD one mind
