  1. We've got M-Audio Delta's for Music Technology too. Do like the Audigy's series cards though.
  2. Hi, How are you doing the wifi bridge? In theory, for instnace, the dlink stuff (two access points in bridge mode) is invisible to the net. Kyle
  3. I thought exchange had some sort of IMAP server? Kyle
  4. Building an MLE is not a fun idea. The trouble we find is you usually end up buying various bolt-on's and then trying to build a web interface round them
  5. Who are they?.. Kyle
  6. We've got RangerSuite. Although now an RM product, it never used to be! We've got the core product + RangerRemote. It stems from the 9x days when were forced to use something like it. As Phil said, it keeps continuity and specfically, continuity when we had both 9x and 2k/XP desktops around the place. (9x all gone, thankfully) Once you've bought into it (quite a large investment) the ongoing mainteance cost is reasonably small and therefore it makes sense to continuing using it for us at least. Yes, the same thing is possible with GPO but Ranger is nice and easy! Kyle
  7. You can use 'cusrmgr' to remotely change local passwords across a domain
  8. Don't forget Hampshire, Portsmouth & Southampton are seperate LEAs. Something like 850,851 & 852.
  9. kylewilli [AT] mson.org
  10. Had an email from Serco Learning tonight. Grovelling, but offering free reporting conversion workshops in the next few weeks. Kyle
  11. If your talking with a certain geographical area (although not all pupils will be) , some sort of wifi network off the school? Kyle
  12. We're all full time. 27 days a year + Christmas.
  13. As far as I understand it, we pay around 12k a year for 10mb to county. However, given 500 odd schools in the lea, 10mb each... I imagine its contended all the way!
  14. Try the 1022N - its the cheapest (afaik) network ready HP Laserjet. Kyle
  15. We got our on site sparky to make a lead. Kettle plug one end. Trailing socket the other.
  16. "(admittedly I have yet to see a school that they have had to resort to shoving the servers in the corridor)" Don't be so sure - I did some work with a primary school last year and the server WAS in the corridor. Kyle
  17. Laserjet 1010/1016/1018/1022/1022
  18. Don't forget - on occasion those "fire rated backup safes" can heat up and melt the plastic! We used IBM's TSM Express - it copies down onto its own harddrive, and then onto tape from there. Our tapes are stored at a locker at a self storage place. Kyle
  19. Our admin staff did this too. In terms of Finance, we went from FMS to the LEA's SAP implementation at the start of a financial year.
  20. I stick with GrumbleDook's opinon. None of these systems do what you want them to, nor do they work as the wonderful sales team suggested. Three years down the line, just as your getting yours working properley after 3 years of crap - you'll get this from a newly appointed member of your SLT: "When I was at XYZ School, we used and it was great. We should move to here." Killing is justifable in some circumstances, I guess. Kyle
  21. What model? Kyle
  22. Alot of monitor companines are requiring Proof of Purchase too - I guess its to prove it didn't fall of a lorry, or even better, that ship down in the English Channel.. From a work point of view, our finance dept are meticulous (like everyone elses I hope ) in filing this things for years to come.
  23. Had a lovely problem with Exams today - Science Modular codes. On the board submission file, it ended up with a student from a totally different module and year (almost) going to the board. One who'd left, too. Not sure if this is just normal CMIS, or because of the upgrade. We'll see.
  24. Do you have SQL access ? If so, it's possible to talk direct to moodle's database to buld a NOVA-MOODLE importer
  25. Yes, but what the hell are support staff meant to do with a class of 28 screaming kids? . Kyle
