Managed to find them. I am guessing they are keeping them from the search to avoid the mad rush. I got the links from here if anybody else is looking. Where To Download Microsoft Office For iPad

Odd. Doesn't appear for me on my iPAD or Mac using iTunes.

Does anybody know when it will appear in the UK?

We are getting hit this week with a lot of fake HMRC e-mails.

Is this personal finance or for the school? I have used their finance before for my own personal use through Barclays and it was 0% for 12 months. Not sure if this was a one off or the norm.

We've looked at Inventry and Entry Sign and had a demo of this one today. VisIT ED (Visitor System with Touchscreen for Schools) Available from SG World The one advantage the sgworld solution had is you can just purchase the backend software - whereas the other suppliers above I think insist you buy the touch screen too. Making the solution quite expensive.

We looked at them all - Meraki, Lightspeed and Airwatch and eventually went with the latter. No system is perfect and is reliant on the API's available from Apple. The latest IOS was include additional MDM features but from what I can see nothing extra appears to be available.

We've set the iPADs we don't want to prompt as static IP's and made them unauthoenticated.

We do the toners for the printers. The reprographics manager puts the toner in the MDF machines. She also sorts the paper for all printers and MDFs.

[ipad] what ipad air charging / trolleys are you using?
Sylv3r replied to RabbieBurns's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
We've got one of these and does the job nicely. Cheaper than most of it's competitors. LapCabby Tablet Computer Trolley | Innovative laptop & tablet trolleys | New Thinking in ICT Storage -
We've got both bits of kit - the large camera and discovery iPOD kit. Up to now (5 weeks or so) we've not used the larger camera as it's chunky and heavy to carry about, if you also go for the stand it's something else to lump around the school. When the discover kit works, it's great. Although probably every 3 or 4 recorded observation we have the upload fail, and have to get the video off the iPODs manually and upload which takes time. Theres a new upload box thats due to be released soon for all users if the bigger camera, which automatically uploads the footage online. Currently you have to browse to a shared area and upload manually via the website.

I wear suit, shirt and Tie. The IT lads in the team wear a branded IT polo shirt and black cargo trousers.

We are a SLG school and as I have posted in other threads - it works well and we (IT staff) and parents love it. I must admit, off the top of my head I don't remember costs as we purchased 5 years or so ago, but I don't think it was anything as expensive as I have seen quoted. All of our teachers up until September 2013 used SLG as their main portal for Attendance, behaviour, Profile reports access to student / staff information other than key in our admin. Training was minimum for staff and quite often we put together step by step click here guides which were more than acceptable. A lot of people dislike Sharepoint due to the clunkiness, we have rebranded ours with our own content and school colours and although I would agree it still has a look and feel to Sharepoint, it certainly is not as bland as an out of the box share point install. I run and manage our SLG install and have had no formal SLG or Sharepoint training everything has been self taught, I install the updates generally prior to a SIMS update again with little or no fuss. Whether I would recommend it to another school, I would have my reservations and it certainly could be a full time role in managing and skinning the install.

I am looking to implement a traffic light system. Green for everything is good to go, amber for issues that we are aware of with an ETA of a fix, red for something isn't working as is bust. It will probably a manual exercise to change the colours, add the updates etc, but shouldn't take that long to update. At the moment planned downtime for staff and students are posted on our Facebook / Twitter. If it affects just staff it's sent via e-mail.

SIMS Data Manager career path (General question)

Data and Exams Manager here is around £27k -
Explain Everything, Pages, Evernote, Dropbox, Numbers, Keynote are a few off the top of my head our staff are using.

We use Realsmart as a standalone product but not the cloud version. We don't extensively use it across the school in all departments, so have tried but didn't like it. ICT, Media and PE use it more than anybody else.
-
We have an after school training session planned for parents - bit of an informative thing plus some how to's / what to look out for etc.
-
Lightspeed is another that may come in cheaper than Smoothwall, from what I have seen in the demos it doesn't look too bad.
-
Not for student or staff use, but our cashless catering tills and Display screens across the school will probably remain as XP workstations.

Since I posted above, we've had major issues uploading videos from our discovery kit. Some go through fine, others seem to fail and we have to press the retry button. Others appear to upload more than the actual file size and therefore fail too. Iris have acknowledged both issues. We are having to manually get the footage off the iPads and upload them via the website which is a bit of an inconveniance.
-
I think the uploads are queued also, so if other schools are sending videos at the same time, then these will also take longer. Generally via our discover kit, a 1.4gig file is around 20 mins.

We are a SIMS Learning Gateway school. We love the product as do our parents. The Insight product would be what I would go with, if we were ever to change. I don't think the SIMS Learning Gateway is to blame, but more the Sharepoint infrastructure when people say they aren't happy with the clunkiness etc.
