  1. Microsoft slashed(!) the costs recently - Your looking at about £160 per user for the year now on CSP. I'm guessing it hasn't took off as much as they had hoped - not surprised with those costs
  2. 100% we are seeing an increase in SAR requests many of which are SEND related and I would say the vast majority are Ai generated.
  3. That specifically mentions Business users, do we think the change will impact Education too?
  4. If just double checked and we've just used the direct API with Arbor directly with TES Room Booking
  5. Do we actually know what will happen - will it disapear completely as part of an update? Still be installed - you will just receive a message when opening it to say it's no longer supported and won't work or will still work just without any support / security upgrades or something else?
  6. I'd be more concerned it was the IT department receiving the flagged alerts to be honest.
  7. Yes, based on your scenario that should work - the accountcy is working as a user level i.e. Primary Teachers and Children in both secondaries and primaries should be fine they can be given a quota and once they hit that, they can't print anymore or you can just have a soft quota where it still reports on the print usage but never stops and they just go into a negative balance - the limitation we have at the minute that we have with PaperCut MF is if a member of staff teaches in more than one department with MF, they choose which department to bill at the point of printing then the finance team recharge the department for their printing. It's the only real thing that's holding us back rolling out to secondaries - we have had several calls with PaperCut and it is on their roadmap and I think is due at some point in the first 2 quarters of 2026.
  8. In short - Hive doesn't currently do account charging / accounting but yes you can have cross-site printing. We've essentially created one Hive print queue but many printers in around 18 sites - so anybody can send to print and release where they choose.
  9. I think fully embracing the cloud with InTune does tend to work well including cloud printing, trying to run it alongside an AD domain whilst mapping drives, expecting it to mirror the exact setup of GPO's is unfortunatly going to end up failing quite spectacuarly - as has been posted above, it does have it's massive flaws and limitations but once you get over the speedhump - it does work well as a setup and forget type scenario.
  10. I am not linked in anyway with these schools, but when this was brought up in our executive meeting this morning about the new DfE guidelines, I remembered seeing schools have been doing this for a while - Pupils at two Edinburgh schools will have to lock up their mobiles - BBC News
  11. We migrated easily via Veeam - worked really well and fairly painless.
  12. Here's some Education InTune baselines which might be a good starting point, then just tweak suited to your school environment. Common Education configuration overview - Microsoft Intune | Microsoft Learn
  13. The key factors that we want from Papercut are: Users can sign into a device via a MiFARE reader, ability to scan to email, a follow-me queue to release from anywhere. Users currently charged per user, not via groups. I can't currently think of any other requirements off the top of my head. All of that is currently available and working well within PaperCut Hive.
  14. I know you will get mixed feedback on here about SENSO but we (other thant the first couple of weeks of the term) have really settled down with it and is doing exactly what we need.
  15. We do get a discount from Sign-In-App although I think that's probably more down to the number of schools we have rather than being education. I have a feeling, there's a 10% discount on 10 sites and above.
  16. hmmm I received this email: Hi All, Thank you so much for your interest in our first Secure Access Manager Webinar for Schools! In case you missed it, here are some highlights from the webinar, and I’ve also attached the recording below. If you’d like to know more on how this would fit into your environment, please feel free to reach out to me, or your Account Managers, Paul Jones and Dan Nunn for a deeper conversation. The meeting focused on the importance of network access control in schools to combat rising cybersecurity threats, highlighting Cisco Meraki's new Access Manager platform as a solution for simplifying network security. Paul Jones leads Cisco's schools’ business and introduces the meeting's focus on network access control. The Department for Education emphasizes the importance of access control due to rising cybersecurity threats in schools. Schools face significant risks from ransomware, phishing attacks, and unmanaged IoT devices. Access Manager is a new Meraki cloud platform designed to simplify network security and management. The solution provides cloud-delivered access controls, reducing complexity and operational costs for schools. Cisco Meraki's architecture supports scalable, secure connectivity for various devices within educational environments. Key authentication methods include certificate-based EAP-TLS, username/password, and MAC address bypass for IoT devices. Future enhancements will expand profiling capabilities and support additional cloud identity providers.
  17. We found it didn't work particularly well if switch user was enabled. So we don't have that enabled at any site now. As to the successs with v2 - If you had asked the same question in September I would have said stay well clear - now, we are happy with where we are at with it.

    HA HA RAM

One of our account managers at one of suppliers mentioned an increase across the board for RAM - he warned us about 3 - 4 weeks ago and now it's appearing to become a reality if those are the prices you are now being quoted.
  19. Yes, I signed up. It said the meeting hadn't started yet when I clicked the link, I manually added the meeting number in, then it was asking for a password. So I logged off and got on with my day.
  20. Freshdesk and Sign-In-App causing us issues up to now.
  21. We had all those issues right at the start and the whole issue of onboarding children was a right pain - but to be honest, since September we've rolled Hive out via InTune to 18 primaries and our HQ building and we couldn't be happier with the process now.
  22. Everything else is pretty much in place - once they sort the Groups then we may give it a go in a secondary (up to around 17 primaries at the minute). Groups are due Q1 of 2026 I believe.
  23. It depends what your after - if you have staff that teach in multiple departments then it won't work if you wanted to bill by department rather than user.
  24. Not quite 100% but it's up there in the high nighties. We always get a spate of them the week before any school holidays.
  25. It depends what features you need. PaperCut hive isn't perfect for reporting and accounting / departments yet. Our primaries who use it don't necessarily use the above features so they can get by, the secondaries I wouldn't be moving just yet.
